About Sandy Forrister

Being a lifelong resident of this county in Western North Carolina I fully appreciate everything this place has to offer. I feel very privileged to buy this property from the previous owner.

Sandy Forrister purchased this cabin in 2014

Why Sandy Forrister chose Andrews

The prior owner built this place with such a vision of the Smokey Mountains. He constructed this cabin in a using native wood and did a masterful job. From the previous reviews, I knew this would be a wonderful place for families of all ages to relax and have a great time doing a variety of activities to satisfy all ages.

What makes this cabin unique

This is such a good rental cabin because you feel like you are in the midst of the mountains but are only 2-3 miles from the grocery and convenience stores.

Perfect family outdoor getaway!

  • 5 of 5

This was our second time here. We loved it so much last fall we came back! Everything about the cabin is awesome. The game cabin adds that extra space for our 13 and 11 year old sons to have their own space and activities. The trail right out the door leads to a beautiful waterfall, and if you feel real adventurous it crosses the creek and goes up the mountain to a beautiful view of Andrews and the surrounding mountains (about 2 miles round trip). The hot tub, fire pit and creek through the property finish off this amazing place! Activities nearby include whitewater rafting and zip lining at NOC, Fontana Dam with access to the Appalachian Trail nearby, a casino, wineries and breweries, and Blue Ridge, GA where there is a fun street with restaurants and shops. All are less than an hour away. Our favorite places right in Andrews are Hoppy Trout Brewery with brick oven pizza and their own craft beer, Scoops Ice Cream right next door where you can make your own concoction, and The Calaboose Winery/Andrews Brewing Company where you can do a wine tasting or have a flight of their craft beers (or both) overlooking their vineyard. I overheard my two sons talking during a hike on the last day about how we really can't ever go anywhere else to stay on an outdoor trip because it wouldn't be as cool as this. My wife and I happen to agree!

Wonderful cabin in the woods!

  • 5 of 5

My friends and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Wilderness Resort Cabin. We came from all corners of the country, and we all agreed that it was the best cabin we had stayed in so far. We loved the constant babbling of the stream and the surrounding woods. The inside could not have been more inviting and homey. The beds were extremely comfortable, and all the necessities were provided, in the kitchen and throughout the house. Sandy thought of everything, including the makings for s'mores for the campfire! The game room next door was a welcome addition - we all enjoyed several rounds of pool. We will definitely book this cabin again if we are in the area. A great place to come home to after a day of hiking in Smokey Mtn. National Park.

Lots to do for the family at cabin and still convenient to Andrews!

  • 5 of 5

Pool table, fire pit and hiking trail were things we did each day. Being on a stream was very peaceful! Large porch dogs came with the cabin which my family loved. They hiked with us and were very sweet. Close to grocery, microbreweries and wineries. Suggest bringing charcoal and lighter fluid for grill.

Great getaway! Very clean with everything we needed!

  • 5 of 5

We had a great stay at the Wilderness Resort. It is a very private cabin. The creek in the front is so relaxing. The kids loved the game room. The cabin itself is beautiful and was super clean. We had everything we needed to cook and grill. My kids loved the neighbors' dogs too. They are super friendly but not pesky. This is a wonderful place to get away from it all. Highly recommended.

Private peaceful serenity!

  • 5 of 5

The Wilderness Resort was on an amazing piece of property. We loved the proximity to town, (5 mins.) and completely private. It felt like you were the only ones around when you were at the cabin or hiking to the waterfall. The hike was only ten minutes each way. My wife and I never saw another person while at the cabin. However, we did see two lovable and very friendly dogs. They were the guardians of the property.

The game room and cabin were very cozy and comfortable. The creek and fire pit and horseshoes and hammock and hot tub were great outside activities.

There is one problem with the cabin property however, and that is that it makes time travel faster than you want it to. My wife and I stayed 4 nights and it felt like it was over quicker than a blink of an eye!

I would recommend this cabin to anyone who wants total privacy while on the property and the ability to be back in civilization with friendly townspeople in 5 minutes.

I am certain that we will return !!
