About Hollace Staren

I grew up in a suburb of New York City, and moved to Western North Carolina in the mid 1980's after my parents started living here in Land Harbor. I've never looked back! Having lived in Boone, Blowing Rock, and Linville, I am now in the Asheville area.

I love Asheville but miss the cooler Linville summers!

Hollace Staren purchased this cottage in 1980

Why Hollace Staren chose Land Harbor

This was my parents' cherished home. They spent 8 months out of 12 here for over 20 years, and were very happy in this place. I have kept it and made it my own with the type of furnishings I love. It's been my place to relax, regroup, rejuvenate.

What makes this cottage unique

What makes Land Harbor unique is how it feels a bit like a camp ground, with neighbors close by, but sometimes barely visible for the rhododendrons and the trees. People are friendly and helpful. I enjoy going for long walks and communing with nature. There are also so many activities available for those so inclined.

Well maintained clean property with lots of vintage furnishings.

  • 4 of 5

The location is very central for visiting Linville Falls, caverns and Boone. Asheville is 45 minutes away so that's very accessible also. Very well stocked with linens, pots and pans even coffee and tea. The cottage is furnished with eclectic furniture and decorative items. All the beds are very comfortable.

Loved this cute home

  • 5 of 5

I really enjoyed this home and its vintage decor. Small but certainly spacious enough for our family of 4 and had everything we needed. Really an ideal location to explore the area.

Relaxing 2 weeks in NC

  • 5 of 5

Just finished up a 2 week vacation in NC and spent 9 days at this property. It was very clean, every thing works and it was really comfortable for our stay. Very convenient to the Boone area, with very many restaurants and shopping areas within 30 minutes. Unfortunately the weather wasn't ideal, but the couple of days we decided to hang at the property, it felt like being at home.

Quaint home in lovely community

  • 5 of 5

Lovely 2 bedroom 2 bath home nestled quietly in the mountains. Roomy enough for a small family or even 2 small families. The house has everything you need and Hollace has done a fantastic job keeping the nostalgia of the home. We enjoyed our walks around the property it is really quiet and beautiful there. There isn't much in the little town of Newland where the home is but don't let that deter you from staying because Linville, Banner Elk, Boone and Blowing Rock are not that far of a drive. Very very close to Grandfather Mountain which is a must to do if you have never been. Also very close to LinVille Falls and the caverns. We will defenitley be coming back to stay agin.
