About Hollace Staren

I grew up in a suburb of New York City, and moved to Western North Carolina in the mid 1980's after my parents started living here in Land Harbor. I've never looked back! Having lived in Boone, Blowing Rock, and Linville, I am now in the Asheville area.

I love Asheville but miss the cooler Linville summers!

Hollace Staren purchased this cottage in 1980

Why Hollace Staren chose Linville

This was my parents' cherished home. They spent 8 months out of 12 here for over 20 years, and were very happy in this place. I have kept it and made it my own with the type of furnishings I love. It's been my place to relax, regroup, rejuvenate.

What makes this cottage unique

What makes Land Harbor unique is how it feels a bit like a camp ground, with neighbors close by, but sometimes barely visible for the rhododendrons and the trees. People are friendly and helpful. I enjoy going for long walks and communing with nature. There are also so many activities available for those so inclined.

The property, area, & amenities were excellent!

  • 5 of 5

The property was well taken care of it had all the necessary amenities that you would expect from even the nicest hotel. The appliances were very easy to use. The house was conveniently located to all nearby attractions, things to do, grocery stores, etc. The owner left everything very clearly labeled, easy to use, and very informational. We really enjoyed our time here! As a family of 4, we were very comfortable and felt as though we had plenty of space. The house was also very clean and organized. It had everything we needed! Would definitely consider staying here again if we ever return to the area!

Fall Foliage and Waterfalls

  • 5 of 5

This cozy cottage is tucked away in trees and green (very quiet) and offers endless possibilities of exploration. Countless waterfalls, hikes, attractions like Grandfather mountain, the Blue Ridge Parkway are all a very short drive away. And if your feet are itching for just a shorter stroll you can do that right from the cottage in this beautiful neighborhood. The cottage is well equipped, the beds are comfortable the walls are covered with interesting art and in every corner you discover more beautiful artisanal treasures. The heating system coped very well with a surprise cold snap. I would recommend bringing a water filter though because the tap water tastes of chlorine.

great home with accommodations.

  • 5 of 5

Loved the 2 separate bedroom & bath accommodations. Was great for 2 couples. Kitchen had everything we needed & the master br had a great TV & DVD as well. Nice screened porch & a separate deck with picnic table. Of course, the Washer & Dryer were wonderful for a 2 week stay. Place was extra clean & beds very comfortable.

The facilities at Land Harbor are unmatched anywhere in the area.

Don't forget the Dollar General just down they road. They have anything you need including many groceries & prices beat both Food Lion & Lowes.

Beautiful home and plenty of room.

This was a great place that I would recommend to anyone. The owner accommodated our family beyond measure. She let us have a Christmas surprise for our 4 young boys. The local towns are very quaint and relaxing.
