Why Christine Hawk chose Plantation

What an amazing stay in Belize with my wife and two daughter's at Christine's beachfront property. Pretty much everything and more we envisioned the property and overall stay to be.
This was our first VRBO experience outside the US but the booking process was essentially the same. The property had all neccessary amenities kitchenwise, and plenty of places to sit and/or lounge which include two covered areas as well as the outside deck and rooftop viewing area where you can catch a nice breeze most of the time.
The pictured dock and covered area is actually owned by the next door neighbor whom we met. He had no issue with us spending some time out under the thatched roof. Actually saw some manatees and rays right out front! The water was fairly cloudy as it was windy most of the time (which was really a blessing with high humidity and temps in the 90's.) We had some local Mayans stop by and we ended up buying some woven products.
We booked a snorkeling trip through Leo which was nice. There are a lot of tour companies to choose from but what was nice about working with Leo was that our guide came and picked us up off the dock out front which was a nice convenience to not have to drive into Placentia to the tour places. Parking in the town can be a challenge.
We had two visits from a local company Deep South Farms which was really nice. Picked up fresh eggs, all sorts of juices and a good meat selection. There are a couple of markets nearby but we really liked the quality and freshness and really not a big premium on cost.
The only issue we had was one of the air conditioners iced over and another was not working well. We let Christine know and within a couple of hours she had someone out and repairs completed.
Overall just an awesome experience we would definitely come back and stay again!
Stayed there 2/19 with wife and 2 teenage boys. House was perfect for the 4 of us. Great ocean breezes, or plunging in the pool on those really hot days keeps you cool. The 2nd story covered porch, with comfortable table, chairs and couch is a great place to watch the sunrise or have lunch. "Penthouse" porch is fabulous for sunsets and night time star gazing. Really enjoyed the location. Close enough for a short drive to many resorts and restaurants but out of the hustle and bustle. Perfect place to do nothing or take advantage of many of the adventure excursion around.
Tom & Stacey,
I’m so pleased that you had a wonderful time at our vacation home and around beautiful Placencia Belize! I agree that the house is in the perfect, quiet, beachfront location away from the noise of the main Village but easily accessible to all the amenities or excursions on the Peninsula or the Mainland! Thanks again for staying with us.
Wonderful property, clean and well kept
We had a great time in Belize. Our host was very prompt with communication, and has a man nearby to the property to assist if you need anything. Everything was as described or pictured.
If we were to go again we would fly from Belize City to Placencia. We drove and it was 3.5 hours on third world roads with lots of speed bumps and humps.
Highlights of the trip other than the house were trips to a waterfall, spice farm and Mayan ruins. We also did a days fishing and snorkelling.
I am so glad that you had a great time at our home and in Belize! Thank you for choosing to stay with us.
Thank you, I'm glad that you enjoyed your time in Belize!
We stayed here with our two daughters for our family vacation. Very suitable to a family and plenty of space. Ate many meals at the house and on the balcony. Air conditioning made things very comfortable when needed. We spent time snorkeling in the ocean right in front of the house( wear water shoes). The kitchen has equipment that one would need. Beach was cleaned/ raked regularly. Pool was very refreshing in hot days. Short drive to maya beach and Placencia Village. Cute shops, fruit stands, and restraunts all within a 5-15 min drive. We tried out the maya beach bistro, Roberts grove, and Belize ocean club resort restraunt. locals come regularly to sell merchandise on the beach. Leo at the green parrot helped us set up snorkeling and monkey river tour. We drove from airport. Approx 3 hours. Highway is well paved. Road signs aren’t really descriptive ( gps would be handy- if you have one or international data). Windee roads through mountains but easy to drive. Overall a very good experience for our kids and a great winter get away. Glad we came!
I’m glad that you are your family had a great time at our home and in Belize! Thanks for choosing to stay at our vacation home.
Our family of 4 loved our stay in Casa de la Vista in Placencia. The house was beautifully sited with gorgeous views of the ocean and palm trees and stunning mountains behind it. We found the home to be well stocked with all the things we needed from beach towels and coolers to kitchen tools and pool floats. We especially loved using the 2 provided bikes to explore the wonderful resorts and restaurants nearby and use the paddle boards each morning on the very calm seas. Many thanks to Leo who advised us on adventures that fit our family. We went scuba diving and snorkeling, and fished near the reef (caught tuna mackerel and snapper), visited the banana farm (Bunches of Fun). We hiked the amazing Tiger Fern trail in the Jaguar Preserve where we swam in the water falls (there are 2) and enjoyed the panoramic views (follow the trail up to the picnic tables). The river tubing on Stann Creek was beautiful and so peaceful! We were also able to rent tennis courts/rackets at the nearby Placencia Resort which we loved- you can spend the day there for a small fee and enjoy their pool and gorgeous beach with dappled shade provided by the palms! Be sure to buy oranges and make your own juice, try the amazing tamales sold by the road in Placencia village and go to Tutti Frutti! We also loved Wendy's for fajitas, the coconut bread french toast with caramelized bananas at the Naia Resort and the lobster grilled cheese at the Maya Beach Bistro. Thank you to Karen for providing us with lots of great information about the house and area which helped when packing and planning for our trip!
Thank you for the wonderful review!
