The pictures do not do justice to this lovely property. The view was breathtaking, the house very lovely and very clean. We had 9 adults and several children of all ages and all of us found it spectacular. The finished basement was a lovely place for the family to gather. It is a walkout basement so once again a very nice view. The roads leading to the house are well maintained but a bit curvier than we were expecting but we live in a flat-land area so we are not used to mountains. The driveway to the house is steep but we encountered no issues with any of our trucks or cars. The owner was very prompt and kind when replying to our questions. It was evident that he takes a lot of pride in the house and property. There is a great Wal-Mart about 30 minutes away which we found very helpful for groceries and last minute Christmas gifts. Near the Wal-Mart there were also a few eating establishments and a gas station. We really enjoyed our stay and highly recommend this property to others.
we rented this property for a family reunion/ thanksgiving trip. the owners couldnt have been more nicer or accomadating! the house was in great shape. everything is in excellent order. the pictures dont do the view of the mountains justice. i would definantly rent this place again, and plan to!
give it a try, you wont regret it.
Our family of 8 enjoyed our stay here...especially our time together sitting in the sunroom enjoying the great views and watching the leaves turning colors every day. Awesome sunsets!! The huge dining room table was awesome and the layout of the kitchen was very workable with lots of people. The doors on the refrigerator and dishwasher do not stay closed or opened correctly. We used a bungee cord to hold the fridge door closed. We did not understand that there was no bathroom upstairs with the two bedrooms...just an FYI. We enjoyed walking around on the property and feeling like we were really getting away from it all. Ken was very friendly and helpful.
We had a great stay in Roan Mountain! The house was very nice and clean. The property was huge and there was lots of room to run and play in the fields and hike up the mountain. Ken was very helpful during our stay and was available for questions. FYI: Although there were other houses around, there aren't any businesses - it is a pretty remote location. The closest town I think was Bakersville, which was about 20 mins away. It worked for us, we came prepared!
It was our first visit there. The house was a 10. It was spacious. The furniture was most comfortable. The TV's were plentiful and large. The basement and game room were great. The views were stunning. We took the dogs hiking and they could run and explore off leash. It was a serene and relaxing environment. My only negative was the distance to any town for groceries or restaurants. But we will know that for the next time.
I would definitely recommend. The owner was also most helpful in our process.
We almost always join other family members for Thanksgiving in the mountains. I really liked this house. It accommodated our multi generation family perfectly. There was a separate sleeping area downstairs that was ideal for parents with small children, a bedroom on the main level and two bedrooms plus a futon upstairs. The views from the house were lovely. The sunsets were beautiful from the enclosed sun porch. It was a great place to sit and read or for the little ones to play. I especially liked the other common areas - the living room had very comfortable seating with a TV and DVD player. The kitchen was spacious with lots of counter space- it was easy to prepare meals for our group . The dining room table had seating for at least 10 and faced the sun porch and the view. The owner was very responsive and answered all questions promptly. I highly recommend this house and hope that we can return there again some day.
