This is a place for anyone who loves art, books, culture and everything Paris has to offer. Recently-renovated by a prominent French architect, our apartment, an artist's studio duplex, is a place Gene Kelly would have loved when he starred in 'An American in Paris.' Overlooking the Eiffel Tower and the rooftops of Paris, there is a communal balcony offering a catch-your-breath view of the entire city.
The apartment itself is ideally located. You are a few minutes walk to the Arc de Triomphe, Champs-Elysees, banks of the River Seine and, of course, the Eiffel Tower. Also nearby are shops, restaurants and one of Paris' most colorful open-air markets. But if public transportation suits you, buses and metros are just around the corner, too.
Our apartment is in an art-deco building with a concierge and key-pad entry system. It's fully-equipped with all the basics: a modern kitchen, a cosy dining and living room, spacious shower and bathroom and a king-size bed. It is also chock-full of beautiful art work. Writers love this place, too.
Audrey Hepburn could have been thinking of our apartment when she said, "Paris is always a good idea."
All that is missing is YOU!!!
American writers in Paris. Sounds like a dream? Well, it is, and it is research on a book that is taking us away from our pied-a-terre in the City of Lights. Come get inspired in this inspiring spot!
This is definitely a writers and artists home. We bought it from another American writer in Paris, one who came to France with Patton's Army and never went home again! He spent one summer driving Gertrude Stein and Alice B. Toklas through Spain and then settled in here to write his own books surrounded with wonderful artwork. We're doing our best to continue in his footsteps.
It was the view that got us here. One look from the communal balcony and we were hooked. And the view from inside our apartment is postcard-perfect. Plus, we're right in the heart of Paris.
PARIS - who needs to say more! Our neighborhood makes it even better, with terrific restaurants - two Michelin one-star restaurants just minutes away from our front door - brasseries, cafes and bakeries. Our street market on Avenue President Wilson every Wednesday and Saturday morning has some of Paris's best produce. It is arguably the BEST street market in the city. There are also plenty of grocery stores, including one that is open every day (yes, even Sundays) until 10 p.m. There are two metro lines just a few meters away and great bus lines, especially the 63 which whisks you to the Left Bank in the most scenic way possible. And have we mentioned the fabulous "Berges du Seine?" This is one of the most creative parks in the world with everything from free boxing lessons to hammock-loafing along the Left Bank of the River Seine. There are plenty of places for snacks, and even more for just sitting and watching the river - and the people.
