What makes this house unique

Sitting on the large front porch, lanai off the dining/living area, or deck off the master bedroom, sip your morning coffee or afternoon tea in comfort while listening to the sounds of birds. Enjoy the refreshing mountain air, greenery and brightly colored flowers that surround you. Many large windows bring the outdoors to you while in the kitchen, living or bedrooms. The front door frames a wonderfully unique stained-glass volcano scene.

Guestbook comments from the owner

Dear Patricia, Good morning, Yes indeed, we had very good time in Volcano, and very good staying in your house. Everything is fantastic! We even had a BBQ night there!!! All family was happy!!! Only one little detail. The curtains should be better. Too much light coming in. Gary was very helpful and a great person! Kind regards, Zong

Thank you for feedback. The curtains are next on our list of continuing upgrades. Aloha

Perfect Cottage with Retro Vibe

Our family of four stayed here 3 nights while enjoying the Volcano sights. Highly recommend this property. Very comfortable and well equipped. Fabulous gardens--I enjoyed sitting on the front porch every morning with my coffee.

Lovely spacious home in secluded but convenient location

  • 5 of 5

We spent 2 nights here in order to explore Volcano National Park. The house was easy to find, and very inviting with lots of space for our family of 5. The porch and back terrace were great for spending down time, with their lovely peaceful gardens. In July there was no need to use the fireplace, but I imagine it would be very cozy and useful in the colder months. The heated beds were definitely a plus at night though - even in July! Highly recommend an Epic Lava Tour (www.epiclava.com) if you want to see some "live" lava flowing. It's a 10-mile roundtrip hike that starts at 4 AM, but the guide knows exactly where to go to get to the leading edge of the surface flow in the field. It was by far one of the coolest thing we did in Hawaii! VNP also very amazing with lots of great sights and hikes. Don't miss the movie they show in the museum about the 1953 eruption! Other must-do's are the view from the Jaggar museum, Thurston Lava Tubes, and the Kilauea-Iki hike (if you are a hiker). As for food, the kitchen was well-equipped to cook in... but if you want to eat out there is a Thai food truck just around the corner on Wright St. that is excellent.

Great house in great location for visiting Volcano!

  • 5 of 5

We loved staying here during our stay in Hawaii. House was the perfect size for our family of 5. The kitchen was well appointed with everything we needed to cook and we loved eating outside on back deck. A great location for 2-3 days in Volcanoes. Day 1 trip to the visitor center and Jagger Museum to see the lava sputtering from the Caldera and at night we rented mountain bikes and rode to spot where lava entred the sea. Day 2, Chain of Craters Road, hiked Kileua Iki trail across the crater, then drove all the way down to the petroglyphs and sea Arch in the and black sand beach in the afternoon. Fantastic.

Great location by park and not too far from Hilo

  • 5 of 5

We really enjoyed our 2 night stay. We used wood stove to remove the morning chill. Weather was perfect. We were planning to BBQ but there were no briquettes at the local stores. Only disappointment. Very quiet and relaxing although we kept busy. Beds were comfortable but neighbors rooster does carry on. Ear plugs solved that.

Be sure to visit the Park at night to see the Volcano. We also Biked into the volcano lava flow meeting the ocean. (Not part of park but rangers can tell you-130 ends)You don't need a tour, bike rentals including electric were available at all hours. Signs say closed but it is not. Wind on return bike trip was brutal.
