Why The Owner chose Rileyville

I canoed this part of the river more than 20 years ago and thought it the most beautiful stretch of river I had ever seen. We feel so fortunate to enjoy such a beautiful place and have enjoyed guestst coming from all over the world, returning families, their friends, and now their children here on Cedar Point Farm. People enjoy fields, woods, all kinds of wildlife, and we even have astronomers come to enjoy the night sky. We are proud to share this beautiful spot with others who come to appreciate the beauty of the area. This cabin is wheelchair friendly for easy access to enjoy relaxing by the fire or to be outside enjoying a beautiful sunset. We hope you choose to experience the beauty of the Shenandoah River Valley and Blue Ridge Mountains with us on Cedar Point Farm.

What makes this cabin unique

This Cabin boasts unbelievable views from the kitchen, dining, living and bedroom areas. The one story design of the cabin with walk-in shower, support bars, make it inviting for people of all ages and mobility.

Great experience.

  • 5 of 5

We stayed at the cabin from the 22nd to the 26th of October. We had a great time. It was in a perfect location to make day trips to Gettysburg, D.C., Luray caverns and skyline drive. The day we spent just hanging around the cabin we got in some fishing and kayaking. Nina was great. She was so fast to respond to our requests and questions. Again. What a great experienxe.

Had a great time

  • 5 of 5

A nice location. Had everything that you might expect the location to have. Having a washer and dryer is nice. Beautiful view, one of a kind.

For the owner, thanks for the stay!

A few troubles i ran into...

I was a tad confused up front about the address of the cabin, just because multiple cabins were noted and multiple addresses were noted on the info sheet. However, once i realized that i was driving up the wrong road, i read the paper a bit closer and it ultimately made sense. Just had to pay close attention to what i was reading (which is abnormal in society today but isn't necessarily a bad thing).

I will say that i did not realize there were leeches in the shenandoah river (you can guess how i found out). Maybe this is common knowledge but i would say that everyone should be somewhat informed of the wildlife in the area (but this isnt the property owners job to teach everyone about the reality of being in the wilderness, so no issue with the property owner here).

Lastly, i think it would be nice if i had a brush to scrub off the grill, or like a metal scraper kind of tool just to get the ash and charred remains off before using it (maybe there was one and I missed it).

As for the pros, cable and dvd/blue ray was nice to have. No reception was a bit tricky to work with, but it was nice not having to think about work emails all the time. Beds were of reasonable quality. It was nice having a hottub, fireplace and grill.

This spot is also great for people looking to hike the shenandoah. Close to the mile 20 (to 30?), 221 entry by marys peak. So lots to do, lots to hike nearby (hiked little devil stairs for some cool geology and white oak for some large water falls). Luray is also nearby for supplies along with luray cavern. So yea, plenty to keep you busy. And at night, you can see the milky way (should have brought my XT8).

Overall a great experience. May have to stop in again. Thanks again,

Very peaceful and relaxing

  • 5 of 5

The cabin was fantastic. Despite some pretty lousy weather, we felt quite relaxed at the end of our stay (hot tub helped with that). The location and views were unbelievable. So quiet and peaceful with views of the mountains and river. Could just sit for hours on the deck. While we only had one night of clear skies, the stars were a sight to see. Even saw two shooting stars. The cabin was convenient to the Skyline Drive (actually could not get up there one day as the fog was so bad)and local area attractions. The cabin itself was clean, well stocked and in great condition. Had the opportunity to meet Nina who seems enthusiastic about the area.

Would definitely love to come back.

Cozy cabin, beautiful views

  • 5 of 5

My girlfriend and I stayed Labor Day weekend with another couple. The cabin was wonderful and the river was a short walk down the hill. There is no cell service with Verizon or AT&T, so a landline would be nice for emergencies. My girlfriend and I were in an accident in Front Royal on our way and had no way to let the other couple know. Fortunately a friend was able to come from Winchester and take us the last few miles.

We will be back - the cabin will make a wonderful base for canoeing, hiking and other adventures.
