Good location but has some drawbacks.
Close in and above heart of old town. Light and airy with nice view. No parking on site and street parking difficult to find nearby until after 7pm. Property is advertised as 3 bedroom; in reality it has one bedroom and a loft with a double bed and two children's beds on the floor. Upstairs bath has low sloping ceiling which after banging my head on twice abandoned using. Kitchen was functional, with some starters which was nice. TV is too small to be called a TV; the screen on my laptop is bigger. Apartment was not very clean when we arrived. Overall not a bad place for a single couple and younger children but not as advertised.
We enjoyed our stay in this rental property. It was our first time visiting Girona and we had a splendid vacation. The location of the house is great in retrospect to downtown. It is a very downhill walk to downtown, and a very steep climb back up, but if you have a vehicle its journey is much easier. The wall is right outside the property and it is a must to see and walk. Such glorious views you will have. Parking was always a concern as the university is on the other side of the wall. Fortunately we never had to wait long for a spot to open as students are always coming and going. On our arrival we realized that we needed some things and Ricard was very obliging to deliver. We did have a problem with the oven though - we couldn't get it to work but he assured us he would have it looked at. It is a fairly spacious house, with all the amenities you would need. I don't believe the unit to have air conditioning and that may pose a problem in the summer months. We visited in mid January and the lofted bedroom does receive the rising heat so in the summer it may be a bit warm. The towel warmer in the bathroom does generate a lot of heat as well, and we could not turn this down, so we just kept the door closed. Again in the summer, this would make it extremely warm upstairs. We were wakened each morning very early by the next door rooster, so if you are a light sleeper or have all the windows open as we did - you too will wake early! Over all, it was a nice rental and we enjoyed our stay.
Nice with caveats
Pleasant, adequate furnishings and supplies. Caveats - at top of Girona old town on long fairly steep hill from restaurants and markets. Parking is limited during work week until 6:30-7:00 when University traffic ends. Small yard could be converted to parking spaces?
Location location location...
Location, location, location... this is a lovely house, with magnificent views, just 2 minutes walk from the city walls and old town and 6 minutes walk from the Spar supermarket (one way) or the Cathedral (the other). A quiet location overlooking the city. The house was big enough for our family- two parents and three teenagers. Lots of steps down to old town and back, but no problem for us. Thank you Ricard for all your help and advice.
