A fully furnished restful and cozy retreat situated on a 5 acre piece of land

This beautiful Craftsman guest house inspired by the Blacker House design in Pasadena CA is only blocks away from quaint downtown Jacksonville where travelers can spend the day shopping, eating out, wine tasting, visiting the Britt festival, hiking and much more! It has views of the historic Nunan House built in 1892. It is a fully furnished studio style guest house with 1 additional bedroom and a cozy outdoor balcony. The Lilac Guest House is 1,000 sq feet and is accessed upstairs through a unique barn red water tower design. The Lilac Guest House sits on the property of a stunning Craftsman House designed by Charles and Henry Greene in 1906, famous architects of the American Arts and Crafts Movement. With attention to every detail visitors will love the warm tones of the solid wood ceiling and the tasteful interior decor.

what a comfortable, warm, and cozy place to spend Christmas!

  • 5 of 5

I came to spend Christmas with my brother, nephew and mother, and hoped to have a quaint place in the country to spend a memorable time with my family. The owners of this property went beyond expectations to ensure our stay was comfortable and that we had all the amenities necessary to enjoy our stay. The guesthouse is perfectly situated in an area where deer just hang out and chickens and goats are nearby as well. All of the appliances and bathroom fixtures are modern and the heating/cooling works phenomenally. The beds are SO comfortable as well! I would recommend anyone to come and stay here to get away from the hustle and bustle of the world yet be connected to all of the conveniences necessary to be comfortable. Thanks to the owners and Happy New Year!

Absolutely superb!

  • 5 of 5

We spent a full month at Melanie and Ken's beautiful guest house...and we truly hated to leave. It was just perfect for us, and most certainly met our desire for something really unique as well as comfortable. Our daughter joined us for part of our stay, and it was just perfect for a couple and 1 guest. It is very spacious, livable and tastefully decorated, but our favorite feature was the balcony. The views from there were superb, both day and night. In the day, you have a wonderful view of Roxy Ann as well as Mount Mcloughlin. At night, the lights of the valley are just beautiful. And there is nothing like the great night's sleep you get by throwing open the doors and windows and letting the cool mountain air soothe you to sleep. The location is ideal as well. It is just a short walk in to Jacksonville if you want to dine out, shop or go to the Britt festival. Yet you really feel like you are out in the country...a feeling magnified by their very friendly goats that you are welcome to feed and pet (the big one likes rice cakes, the small one popcorn).

Melanie and Ken are friendly and responsive hosts, and could not have been nicer to us. They really made us feel like part of the family. We highly recommend this property for anyone wanting to stay in the Medford/Jacksonville area. Easy walk to Jacksonville, only 5 miles to Medford.

Great place!

  • 4 of 5

The house was very well presented and a great alternative to hotels/inns. I was in Jacksonville on business and this was very comfortable with good amenities. The location is within walking distance to downtown, but you also get a spacious country setting out your door. The hosts were very attentive. Thanks!!

Beautiful relaxing cottage

  • 5 of 5

What a wonderful studio cottage. The cottage is beautiful and very comfortable. Watching the snowfall, goats and town deer was a real treat. The cottage is great for a romantic get away, taking in the Britt festival in the summer, and a short walk to wonderful restaurants and shopping in Jacksonville.

Owner's Response: Well, as they say there is always one person you can never please.....To be quite frank I had a feeling from my first conversation over the phone with Jerry that he was a "hard to please" kind of person due to his gruff and blunt demeanor. And apparently my gut feeling was correct. I am disappointed that he would go as far as to put our beautiful guest home down to this extreme. However, I will say that my husband made the mistake of taking his classic 69 Camero out for a fun run prior to Jerry's arrival. Neither he or I realized that the ventilation system was not working properly. It would have been nice to have heard about this problem at the time of Jerry's visit instead of in a negative review days later on VRBO. Ken has since fixed the ventilation system and this should never happen again. As far as Wifi our guest home has its own Wifi which operates at a quick and efficient speed so this is a non issue. I'm not sure if Jerry was perhaps just having technology issues?? Again, it would be a common courtesy to discuss any concerns in person at the time instead of waiting to complain online.
