Attractive Cottage, Mountain Views, Quiet, Lovely Setting,
We most enjoyed the tranquility, beautiful views, and just up close and personal with
God in nature. Just sitting quietly on the screened deck, listening to the sound of running water in the creek, gazing at the distant mountains with foggy valleys is music to the soul. Driving to the location is a bit of an adventure in itself. We were glad that we carried food with us and did not need to drive out every day. The cottage is attractive, interesting and spacious. We loved hiking everyday, the little waterfall park is an easy hike. Catawba Falls near Old Fort is not a difficult hike and very pleasant.
Biltmore House is a lovely day trip. Dan Lacrosse, the owner, personally called us, which was very appreciated. Darlene, the property manager, was very helpful and friendly and attended to our requests in a timely manner. This was a most pleasant rental experience and we hope to return in the future.
This cottage provided a peaceful setting for our family vacation! We really enjoyed the setting and nice accommodations! The owners were very helpful! We hope to stay here again!
A wonderful place to relax
My family thoroughly enjoyed this place. From the view, to the journey down to the creek and the falls, there was enough to do, or nothing to do, if you so desired. Thanks for opening your home to us and sharing such a great location to relax and unwind.
Fantastic family mountain vacation in a beautiful cottage!
We reserved Mr. Lacross's cottage for a 2 night stay, Oct 19-21 2017. The previous guest reviews were right on! The cottage is located in a gated mountain community. The house is located a bit of a distance into the community, but it's a nice scenic drive if you go during the day. The cottage itself is located on a beautiful property with a step falls and little creek right behind the house. Very spacious, clean and welcoming! There is a wrap around porch on the main level and a smaller porch on the lower level; both offer great mountain views. My favorite part of the property was the step falls and creek behind the house...our kids had a great time playing on the rocks and splashing on the water, although for this time of the year the water was really cold. You can hear the water running from the house; it was nice to sit out on the porch drinking our coffee and look out at the mountains and listening to nature. The inside of the house gives you the feeling that you are actually in a cabin. The house was stocked with all the amenities you can imagine. The interior decor is very well appointed...bears, pinecones, small Christmas tree...etc. During our stay we visited Linville Falls And Asheville. Both locations are located 30-45 minutes away! Make sure to visit the waterfall located within the community! Great pictures! Since we have smaller children we drove to the falls....took less then 5 minutes, but you can also walk there! Did not have enough time to visit the lake. The property manager and Mr. Lacross were very helpful and made themselves available for any questions or concerns we had, but thankfully we encountered no issuues! My husband and I wanted to take this trip in order to see the changing of the leaves! We live in South Florida so we don't ever really experience Fall. This had to be one of the best vacations we've taken. My brother lives in Charlotte and he and his family accompanied us on the trip; we are going to make this an annual retreat and will definitely love to stay in Hidden Falls again!
What a joy!
I have to admit, if I had known how far anything this place was, I might not have rented it. Our original reason to be in the area was to visit the Biltmore Estate and this location added some minutes to the trip. That being said, whether it was Karma or just dumb luck, all of us thought this was one of the neatest vacation homes one could ever imagine. Did I mention clean as well? Not a half mile from this house was a 100 foot waterfall. Oh, and there was our own private waterfall in our back yard! And if you looked another way, the view stretched out for miles and miles. There are a number of hiking trails in the area as well. Some of our hardier crew took advantage of a couple of them. The only suggestion I could make for an improvement would be to have better light for reading in bed. This was no big deal for me. By the time I went to bed (I'm embarrassed to say how early) I was down for the count the minute my head hit the pillow! There is no way I could give this place less than five star.
Fantastic Cabin, Great personal touch.
We really enjoyed our stay, the House was as advertised, and more!! Very clean, well appointed and could not have been a more welcoming place to stay.
Beautiful views, and very secluded. (very limited to no cell service, but that makes it even more of a getaway). Spoke with the owner Mr. Lacross before our visit, and Darlene (property manager), before and during our stay and both were friendly, helpful and great to deal with. Hard to find anything negative to say. We had a great time!!!
Near Asheville and Lake Lure. Biltmore Estates, home to many breweries and wineries. Lots of outdoor activities. (there is a binder in the house with a list and directions). Zip line tours, whitewater rafting, hiking, biking, golf & the Blue Ridge Parkway.
