This home is beautiful. Not much more to comment. It's spacious, modern, and yet evokes a rustic feel.
Thank you so much for sharing that. It's meaningful to our team and future guests, as well. Glenda
A wonderful escape! Enjoyed our stay very much!
During the recent holiday week, we had had three families (17 people total) meet at this mountain cabin retreat for two nights/three days. The view is truly spectacular and I have to agree with other reviews that the pictures online honestly don't do it justice.
There was plenty of room for everyone to be together without feeling cramped. The sleeping arrangements were a bit tricky for everyone to have a warm, comfortable space but we made it work. The lower level rec area was a nice hangout for the kids to have their own area when they wanted. The fireplace upstairs was amazing, and also necessary to keep the house warm (keep in mind it was below zero overnight while we were there).
The kitchen and living area were great. The kitchen is well stocked and cooking meals for a large group was easy. No need to bring paper products but do bring cleaning supplies such as dishwasher detergent, sponge and dish soap.
We would have preferred slightly more communication. We fortunately found someone local to deliver wood twice during our stay. A notebook with some local contacts, such as pizza delivery, emergency/urgent care, things to do while in town, property manager contact info., etc. would have be helpful since none of us were from the area. The property manager showed shortly after we arrived and was helpful. We had read from previous reviews that the driveway was "tricky", well that was spot on! Fortunately only one of our four vehicles didn't make it up the driveway! We didn't let it ruin our fun but it was it not convenient for unloading, etc. There are a lot of stairs (both indoor & outdoor) so anyone not able to handle steep stairs should be careful.
Overall, we enjoyed our stay very much and would highly recommend this to anyone looking for a place to accommodate a large group. Thank you for sharing your lovely mountain retreat with us.
The property is exactly as described and the views were amazing.
I would 100% come back here with a large group of friends. House accommodates wonderfully and is close to town with a feel of being away from it all.
4.5 Stars - Amazing Views, Great Location, Good Property
First, I cannot stress enough how amazing the views from this house are. My family has stayed in the LG region numerous times over the years, and we were blown away at the scenic peaceful nature this property provided. The house feels like it's on top of a mountain of it's own, and the view from the deck stretches out across the valley containing Warrensburg to what we believed was the High Peaks region of the Adirondacks.
I was a little worried about the location at first, but really came to like it after a day or so. It's removed from the crowds you find in the Village, and because Warrensburg is more residential than tourist, the amenities there were far better suited to people renting a house. We were able to get whatever we didn't pack form the Price Chopper (5 mins away) and found an amazing local pizza place (The Pizza Shop - 5 stars!) that still only took 25 mins to make our (rather large) order - try finding that downtown LGV! Very peaceful and tranquil out here, and still only a short drive from downtown Lake George. It's also very close to the highway, so it's both very easy to find, and is a great place if you're interested in exploring either north (Ticongeroga/Lake Champlain) or south (Saratoga) of LG itself.
Regarding the property itself, the driveway is a lot tougher than we anticipated from the reviews here. Luckily we had two separate 4WD vehicles, so it was never a problem, even with the rainy weather we had, but I would have been nervous about some of the FWD cars making it down/up if we had a severe storm.
There are plenty of beds in the house, and you could very easily fit up to the advertised 17 people if you don't mind sharing the space. If you're more looking for a family vacation, I'd probably recommend limiting it to 6 or so adults, otherwise you're sleeping on couches or sharing bedrooms.
The house could certainly use a little TLC, there were a handful of items that my family noticed around the property that could use a little fixing up, but none of them were significant
or took away from our vacation in any way.
Honestly, we had a great time, and the only reason I didn't rate this property 5 stars is that it wasn't quite as nice as some other places we've rented over the past couple years (granted none of those were in the LG region). I would have gone with 4.5 stars if that was an option.
I want to begin by thanking you for the 4.5 star rating. Sounds like your vacation went well. I guess the only question I would have is that the 17 person sleeping arrangement does not include any couches. If you mean "futons" then you would be accurate. On the main floor is 2 bedrooms and they have 1 queen, 3 full beds and a twin. That's a total of 9 in beds. Upstairs is a king that sleeps 2 and a Queen futon in the loft that sleeps 2. That's 4. And in the game room there is a full bed, a queen futon and another full futon mattress for the floor, that all total sleeps 5-6. 9 plus 4 plus 5 is actually 18 with no one on a couch. All the linens are also provided in baskets by the futons. You may have not noticed this. Again, thanks so much and please consider a revisit. Glenda
This house was ideal for a weekend away with a group! Glenda was extremely accommodating, kind, and we couldn't have asked for a better set up. The driveway is challenging, but we found that all cabs and deliveries were able to get to the house without a problem. It's located about 10 minutes from downtown Lake George, so ideal if you want to easy access to bars and restaurants. Overall, we had a great time and the house was great!
Beautiful home and breathtaking view!!
My friends and I stayed in this home for two nights after our senior prom. We were 15 minutes from Lake George village and the outlets. We played yard games, had fires, and sat out on the balcony taking in the incredible view of the mountains. We cooked big meals as we had 17 people and the kitchen/grilling area were spacious enough for all of us. Glenda stopped by to check on us and was very accommodating and helpful to my questions. Baskets were left in the bathrooms with all necessary toiletries. Getting up the driveway is a little difficult without 4WD but it is definitely possible. Pictures do't do it justice. We were literally in awe when we drove up the driveway to see this house, and even more so when we walked upstairs to see the gorgeous wrap around balcony overlooking the mountains!
