Vintage cabin private lakeshore getaway with a sandy beach.
If your goal is to get away from it all then this is the place for you. Listen to the loons call from this picturesque cabin with a sunset view. Twelve wooded acres shelter this property which also includes a dock that is made for family swimming and fishing on 450ft of shoreline with a sandy beach area that is perfect for sandcastles and lounging.
You'll have all the peace and quiet you want, yet you are just a short drive from restaurants, golf courses and shopping in the towns of Emily and Crosslake.
Built in the 1940s, Loon Lodge is a charming two-story walk out cottage nestled among whispering pines and towering birch trees. Set in the privacy of 12 wooded acres, yet only 15 minutes from the dining and shopping area of Crosslake and the Whitefish Chain of lakes, Loon Lodge is the perfect place to enjoy sunsets and listen to the loons call.
The Lodge - Upper Level
The centerpiece of the knotty pine living room is a gorgeous stone fireplace, yet the living room also includes a flat screen TV, DVD/VCR, and a compact high-end audio system, allowing for CDs or access for iPhones, iPads, iPods or other MP3 players.
The fully updated kitchen includes a microwave, dishwasher, and all the utensils, dishes, and pots and pans you need to make this your home away from home.
The sunny dining room provides a delightful area for meals and games. And, when the weather allows, meals can also be enjoyed at the patio set on the lakeside deck.
Two bedrooms and a three-quarter bathroom with a stacked washer/dryer create convenient one-floor living. One of the bedrooms has a queen size bed and the other bedroom has a full size bunk bed.
The Lodge - Lower Level
The lower level, which is accessible only from an outside entry, has a living area with a full size futon sleeper and an all-in-one kitchenette unit. The bedroom is furnished with a full size bed. A three-quarter bath is also on the lower level. This arrangement provides privacy for friends and family.
Everyone looks for that little slice of heaven, a private paradise away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. A place you feel safe to move at a pace that suits your mood on that day. A place where you control the stress and laugh amongst friends and family. Loon Lodge on Mitchell Lake is that place. From the moment you enter the private, tree lined driveway, you just know. It will take you back in time. The cozy cabin overlooking Mitchell Lake is peaceful and quiet. No traffic noise, just the loons calling out to greet you. The lake has very little boat traffic, perfect for taking out the canoe and watching the Bald Eagles, loons and other wildlife. The 'owners' cabin is next door. Be assured they value your privacy as much as their own. Occasionally they will be there and available to help and answer any questions you may have about Loon Lodge or nearby amenities.

Peaceful paradise on the lake
We love the Loon Lodge! When you think of an old fashioned cabin in the woods on a lake, THIS is the place! We have stayed the last 3 years in a row and booked it for next year too. It's quiet, the cabin is well appointed and always clean when we arrive. They have a washer/dryer unit and a mini dishwasher that rocks! The place is big enough for 6 or 8 people but its just me, my husband and our pup on the upper floor. There's a beautiful stone fireplace but we stay in the summer and never had to fire it up. The lake is clean, there's a sandy beach and a large dock on the end that's perfect for fishing or sunbathing. I will say that this year when we arrived we definitely noticed a musty smell coming up from the bottom flat. There had been so much rain and it's in the woods so I'm sure that had something to do with it. After a few days of sunshine, it dissipated. It did not, and would not, prevent us from staying again.
We love it there and can hardly wait to return next year!
Great family get-away
This is a cozy, lovely place to get away. The pictures very accurately depict the space. Rooms are snug but very functional. We had little ones (7 yrs, 5 yrs and two 1 yr olds) and the small sandy beach was perfect for them to play and explore in the water. They really enjoyed the paddle boat, canoe and rowboat. It worked great for us to have one family with a 1 year old downstairs and the other 1 year old upstairs - for each family to have a little space for bedtime. The deck, the living room and the dock were all awesome spots to watch the sun set over the lake.
Peaceful and quiet week
We enjoyed the cabin stay on the expansive property promoting relaxation in a peaceful setting. The main room of the cabin was great in a sense, it made you feel like you were back in the 40's of which we found very cool. Took morning nature walks down the long driveway with our 18 month old grandson which was really awesome, and made some great memories...even encountered a Doe watching us one day. Beach is nice and sandy. Had a day of really good fishing and caught a 30" northern among other fish. Cabin was well outfitted with what we needed. Having a washer and dryer was awesome. The family played games at night in the dining area with plenty of room. We were expecting more of a lake view and less elevation from the cabin based on the pictures, but the expansive property and solitude made up for it.
Charming -Cozy-a place to make memories
Great time with kids and grandkids.-weather was cooler on 4 day stay but we had two wedding receptions in the area so would have been difficult to leave if we had sunny 80's. Enjoyed campfires, sunsets, fishing and the beauty and privacy of the home. Loved the separate living spaces and the MN loons.
Loon lodge stay
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Loon Lodge. The cabin was very comfortable and had everything we needed. The beach and dock were great. The grounds of the cabin were very beautiful. It was quiet and peaceful . The perfect retreat.
How delighted we were to have someone from so far away choose to stay at Loon Lodge! Then for you to say it was the perfect retreat, thank you!
Cozy Cabin in the Woods
We spent a long weekend with our 1 year old at this quaint cabin. The cabin itself is full of character with a beautiful stone fireplace that got a lot of use at night. We found everything we needed for meals, entertainment, communication, etc. The sandy beach gets plenty of sunlight and provides beautiful views of the quiet lake. Fishing off the dock was very good with a number of bass and panfish, and a couple nice-sized pike. We will definitely include this cabin on our list for future weekend getaways.
Thank you for choosing Loon Lodge for your summer getaway. Your comments are greatly appreciated!
Besides Fifty Lakes, Crosslake and Emily are 15 minutes away. Outing, Crosby and Pine River are less than 30. Golf, shopping, dining out...the possibilities are plentiful.
