River Views, Blue Ridge Mountains, River Front, Log Cabin, Canoe, Kayak, Fishing

Bedrooms 3
Property type cabin
Minimum Stay 2 nights

About the property

3 Bedroom, 1 Bathroom, Sleeps 6

Longview cabin rental sits just above and overlooking the beautiful new river in allegheny county. The view of the river and surrounding mountains is absolutely incredible. This rustic cabin has great views of passing kayakers and fishermen.

There are two bedroom and a sleeping loft that works as a great 3rd bedroom. We have 1 bathroom. The kitchen is fully furnished with everything you will need to prepare that family meal or to cook up the catch of the day. There is a charcoal grill and fire-pit in the yard for that family cookout and marsh mellows over the fire in the evening.

We are close to hiking trails, state parks, shopping in boone and blowing rock, mount rogers (grayson highlands park) for hiking and hopefully to catch a glimpse of the wild pony heard that has been grazing the mountain for over 100 years. We are near the new river (canoe, kayak, tube), virginia creeper trail (bike trail that is downhill for 17 miles....For the lazy folks), blue ridge parkway and the new river trail (for biking, running, horseback riding and hiking).

Longview cabin is close to several vineyards and wineries so you can sample some great north carolina and virginia wines.

Longview cabin rental is close to several quaint mountain towns....West jefferson where you can visit the old movie theater, local shops, the wine shop, several great restaurants, and you cannot miss the ashe county cheese factory. You can also visit sparta where you can visit the local tea pot museum and several local shops. Other local towns include independence virginia, galax virginia the birthplace of bluegrass music is just up the road, bristol tennessee is less than an hour away. If you are a motorcycle enthusiast laurel springs is a great place to visit.

Best of all and my favorite is the front porch with a beverage of choice and watching the wildlife. Deer, many species of birds (ducks, geese, osprey, eagles and many more), muskrats, otters, mink, humming birds and if your timing is right, maybe even in the far distance, a black bear.

There are miles of perfect blueridge mountain back roads to explore. Ride along the river and well maintained gravel roads and watch the kayakers and canoes. See the beautiful scenery of christmas tree farms scattered on the mountain sides.

The list goes on and on. Come spend a couple nights or several nights and discover this hidden gem.

A quiet New Years getaway with my husband

  • 3 of 5

This is a quaint cabin with a beautiful view. I would have had a hard time being in the space with anymore than the 2 of us and our dogs and possibly a young child or 2 max, definitely not 7. Granted we have dogs the size of small children! Access to the river is a short walk down the road at a common area that is not marked but near the development company. Bring your own linens, towels, washcloths, and hand soap. Queen bedroom, 2 twins in another, and a full size in the loft. No closets but a dresser in the queen bedroom. There are very few spices and no foil, plastic wrap, etc. There were coffee liners and dish soap. Bring games and movies if you want inside entertainment. There are a lot of beautiful views and lots of hiking nearby. You can just walk the very secluded neighborhood streets too. 3 stars because it is smaller than i thought and not as well appointed as i thought but the owner is very responsive and nice.

The 2 bedroom cabin was perfect for our little family to get away for the weekend. Clean and just the right size. Beautiful area, and amazing sunrises over the New River.

Perfect place for a relaxing vacation getaway!

  • 5 of 5

We booked this home for memorial day weekend and had the best time here! The owner is great with communication and so very friendly! He actually called when we first got there just to make sure we Had found it and asked if we needed anything or had questions. I've never had someone check on us before but he went above and beyond so that was definitely a big plus in our book! It's secluded enough to feel like you have your own little paradise yet close enough to town that you aren't completely alone. The river in front of the house and the views along with it are absolutely breath taking! We floated down the river quite a few times and were able to put our tubes in down the road and then get out right in front of the house, which was so convenient (especially since we had toddlers with us). I would most definitely recommend this rental to anyone looking to get away for a nice, relaxing, family bonding weekend. This home offers breath taking mountain views and an incredibly peaceful flowing river. We had such a wonderful vacation here. We had a very servere thunderstorm come up on Saturday night while we were. At first, I was very concerned about it and was a little worried.. That feeling didn't last long though. Hearing the rain hit the roof, the river getting louder as it filled with more water, watching the lighting over the mountains, and just witnessing the dark night sky light up just enough to show off the amazing views, it couldn't have been more magical here. Thank you so very much for renting this to us. This will be a vacation to remember and we have enjoyed every second of it!
