Cozy and central, but lacking on the details and the amenities.
I rented this location with my husband and our two kids between July 4th and July 7th, 2018, and my experience was mixed. We found the apartment cozy and accessible. The price point was fair given the location, and CENTRAL to the main tourist spots, as advertised. The apartment was also clean, quiet, and not without a sense of safety; there were three locked entries between ourselves and the outside world. The air conditioning was AWESOME; the place can be quite an icebox against the Roman heat. Finally, the person who received us was courteous and willing to answer our questions without a problem.
On the flip-side, the comfort was lacking with the beds. My kids had to use a separate cushion from a nearby chair to dull the springs from the sofa-bed. The master bed was okay.
The television did not seem to have a signal. Not that we were there to watch TV, but the World Cup had a couple of awesome games that we would’ve liked to have seen in the evening.
Courteous as the hostess was, she gave us a lot of information all at once to folks who were jet-lagged. We even said as much given that we were having a hard time keeping up with the info she was explaining. All names are in Italian (obviously), which makes understanding even more challenging since we do not speak a lick of Italian, nor are we familiar with Rome’s general system. As it has been in other Homeaway experiences, it would’ve been nice if the renter had provided a small binder with maps, key locations, bus locations, markets, laundry areas... the sort of crucial feedback many folks who rent these types of locations are interested in when traveling.
Finally, the WIFI was quite simply awful! The thing just worked once (and slowly) but not really again. Fortunately, I purchased my Travel Pass from Verizon and was able to make my phone a hotspot so that I could share access to my family. But had it not been for this we would’ve been in trouble; I needed access to download my train tickets! That was a bit of a “freakout” moment.
Overall, I would recommend the place in spite of the criticisms that I have noted above. Most, if not all of the critiques, are easily fixed, and I would encourage the renter to fix them for it would make the apartment a superb stay.
The location is the best if you want to be in the middle of the most charming and lively neighborhood in Rome. (In fact, it can get downright crowed on Fri. and Sat. night.) Trastevere includes the most and best restaurants and bars in a single concentrated maze of little cobble stone streets with ivy covered historic buildings, all of which is super, super charming! Although the apartment is right down the street from one of the most popular hangouts for 20-something-year-olds --who can get loud-- the location remains quiet given its off the street. It is also very safe; my daughter and I stayed there for a month, and we always felt very safe with all the layers of security. The apartment is very clean, well stocked, with the essentials and comforts of home, and at a price cheaper than most in this desirable neighborhood. The only draw back of the apartment, as you can read in other reviews, is it is a bit dark and musty smelling and the internet is near impossible to get even with a hotspot (which we had). Luckily, though, most all cafes and restaurants offer free wifi for the cost of a cappuccino, so we managed to still get online plenty. For me, the good (awesome location, clean, safe, comfortable, and affordable) definitely outweighed the bad, particularly given most of our time was spent out and about sight seeing. The 8 tram provides easy and frequent access to and from the capital and the surrounding area, the H bus provides easy access to and from the train station, and a short walk across the bridge and you can easily catch a bus to the Vatican. If walking is your preference, it is possible; on days we had more energy, we walked more than once to the capital area, where most of the sights are. We also walked once to the Vatican, but, admittedly, that is a bit of a walk. Most of the time, we walked around and around all the little streets of Trastevere, taking advantage of some pretty good street performers, and enjoying the sights of the cute streets, buildings, and restaurants (also great people watching if that's your thing). Unfortunately, there is no close subway stop. Check in and out was without incident and went more smoothly than a hotel given we were greeted personally and shown around the apartment. Overall, our stay here was great, and we would stay here again.
Great location and trendy apartment.
We only stayed 2 nights and 1 full day for a long layover in Rome before our next leg of trip and this was an ideal location to see Rome in just one day! The apartment is in an old school authentic neighborhood with lots to see and do so (restaurants, shops, cafes, piazza, churches) if you never leave Trastevere you'll have a great Roman experience. The big items are also close by for a longer walk or taxi/transit ride. Close to Vatican City and Colesseum.
The apartment was spotless and perfectly located.
The landlord was very helpful. The location was great. All was good.
Tutto bene ospiti graditi
Ci auguriamo di avere lasciato un buon ricordo
We stayed in this apartment for 4 nights and it was everything it says it is. It is roomy, clean and in a great area. We had some issues getting there just because it was a weekend and Trestavere is a busy place but Ludmilla was kind enough to meet us there and got us all set up. She also gave us some suggestions for dinner and places for grocery shopping, the pizza place she recommended was amazing and a 3 minute walk from the apartment. The apartment itself is close to cafès, restaurants and bars but once you are inside its very quiet. We loved it and if we are ever back in Rome we would stay here again.

Convenient and Comfortable
Pros: Excellent location - we explored everything by-foot; well equipped kitchen w washer; very quiet; comfortable bed (albeit low to the floor); tastefully modernized; spotlessly clean.
Cons: No natural light or views - windows look into tiny courtyards; no air circulation; terrible wifi and no cell phone signal.
If you plan to be out and exploring this is a great spot. If you plan to spend lots of time in the apartment, or need wifi for work this may not be your best choice.
Suggestions to owner: A fan would be good; instructions on how to use the heat/AC unit; info about local city buses (where to catch them, where they go); suggestions for dining & sightseeing in the neighborhood.
