About Gary Speece

Moved here from Los Angeles in 1970 and never left. My favorite sports here include surfing, dirt bikes and karate. My wife Beverly and myself are both retired.

Gary Speece purchased this house in 2004

Why Gary Speece chose Haleiwa

I have lived and worked on the North Shore as a carpenter since 1971 and a Building Contractor since 1984. Got married here to my wife Beverly in 1979. It took me 18 months to start and finish this house with no crew and moved into a finished home in 2005. We both live upstairs.

Great house at an awesome location!

  • 5 of 5

We JUST checked out of this rental and I don't have any negatives about it. Gary was a very chill owner and very accommodating to my family of 6. My kids and I loved going to the beaches around the area everyday and taking advantage of the outside shower. Gary showed us the local beach that was just across the street the same night we checked in. We also walked 5 minutes to Ted's bakery for breakfast every morning. The inside of the house was nice, clean and roomy. They also had everything we could possibly need for the stay! This place is definitely a gem!

Great house minutes from the beach

  • 5 of 5

We had such a great stay. Gary greeted us on arrival, showed us around the house and beach and had great recommendations for the area. He let us use his surf boards, beach chairs, etc.

The house was clean and well stocked with beach towels, paper goods, etc. The pantry had staples like cooking oil and condiments making it much easier to cook a few meals "at home". Our family of five fit perfectly. Grown ups in one bedroom, two girls in second bedroom and our teenage son on the fold out futon in the living room.

Great North Shore location with a great host

  • 5 of 5

This was our first time on the island of Oahu, and we ended up really pleased with the location of this property. The beach across the street is beautiful and uncrowded. Ted's Bakery is within walking distance where you can get reasonably priced delicious meals. Also very close to lots of North Shore beaches, Giovanni's shrimp truck, and the nice town of Haleiwa. The property is spacious and well equipped. We did some cooking at home and never felt like we were missing anything. Gary is an exceedingly kind host. Upon arrival, he gave us a tour of the house, then walked across the street with us to point out the best areas at the beach for swimming, surfing, etc. He also helped us acquire a gorgeous hunk of Ahi tuna from a local fishmonger friend. Would stay here again anytime.

Great stay

  • 5 of 5

We had a lovely stay at Gary's place. Sunset Beach was right across the street and beautiful. The neighborhood was nice and the location central. Gary was very friendly and kind and had lots of recreational equipment to share. The only input would be that the bed in the main bedroom was not comfortable and could use a new mattress. The place was clean and nicely done though. We would certainly recommend it.

Awesome North Shore getaway, we felt at home!

  • 5 of 5

Stayed in January, family of 5 with 3 grown kids. Perfect home for our North Shore escape. Gary welcomed us like we were old friends. He walked to the beach with us the first evening and described the different breaks at Velzyland for us. He had all the beach gear we needed (Towels, snorkels/fins, cooler, and offered us use of his surf boards as well) We can't wait to stay here again!
