About Richard Harmon
We are Americans working and living in London. My wife is an academic and I work for a global software company. We love Lisbon for its long and rich history, great architecture, good food, wonderful climate, affordability and the friendly people. It is truly a great place to explore, enjoy and relax.
Richard Harmon purchased this Apartment in 2014
Why Richard Harmon chose São Cristóvão e São Lourenço
This is a very unique 200+year old apartment with nearly 1 meter thick stone walls that lies within an area called Baixa - the historic center of the city. We have furnished this to a very high standard for our own use and for our guests to enjoy. Located on the 1st floor with only a few steps via a grand entrance way.

Richard was responsive to any questions I had while booking the trip. The apartment was true to the pictures. It was described as an architectural gem and we would all agree. Plenty of space for 4 adult travelers. Well located in the heart of the historical district of Lisbon. Well appointed kitchen. Nice selection of wine that you could purchase at cost. Good recommendations of local restaurants!
Perfect flat in perfect location
We enjoyed our stay in this lovely flat. It is roomy, well appointed and offered every amenity we needed. Fully equipped modern kitchen and bathrooms, tour books and wine for purchase. Location was great for us as we wanted to be near the old city. We highly recommend this property.
Great location! Large apartment with nice amenities. More than satisfied and better than expected.
Great location, wonderful apartment
We stayed here for 1 week and found it an excellent choice. The location is terrific, right near the city centre, and walkable to many places. The apartment is very well kept and appointed, and was great to spend time in. The second bedroom gets some street noise, but the main bedroom is further away from the street and noise was not a problem for us. This is a carefully and thoughtfully designed apartment, and we highly recommend it.
Apartment was large and spacious, central to many sites.
Only complaint was that the windows did not seem to block out the noise from the street. In the front room, you heard all the cars going by and there were some noisy pedestrians. In the back room, we heard the pigeons. If you are able to sleep with ear plugs, then the place is a gem!
Gorgeous and more impressive and spacious than the pictures.
We had a great holiday. The location was great- easy to stop back at after a day of sightseeing with the kids, before heading out locally for dinner somewhere. Cristina was really helpful.
The apartment is located in an area called Baixa - the historic center of the city. It sits in a valley/plateau that lies between two hills. To the East of the apartment lies St George's Castle (the elevator is 200 meters away) and the historic but very hilly Alfama district (the oldest remaining part of Lisbon and the Moorish center with some great architectural examples). To the West of Baixa lies Chaido and Barrio Alto. Chaido has many international designer shops and Barrio Alto is the area where you will find over 100 bars & restaurants that pretty much runs all night long with a crowded and loud street life but fun to visit in the evening. In Baixa you have the historic center that is being or has been renovated with many new boutique hotels, lots of outdoor restaurants and the new Design Museum (MUDE). There are also many shops (though not the exclusive designer stores that exist in Chiado). Each of these areas are very small in scale with their own unique character which makes walking around quite easy - though hilly in spots. You can walk from the East end (St George’s Tower) to the West Side (Barrio Alto) in 20-30 mins. Santa Justa Elevator: One of the city's best-loved landmarks and also known as the 'Elevator of Carmo,' this extraordinary structure was built at the turn of the century by the Portugal-born French architect Raoul de Mesnier du Ponsard (an apprentice of Gustave Eiffel, explaining the structure's similarities to Paris' Eiffel Tower), to connect downtown to Bairro Alto (the lowest and highest points of the city).
