The cabin is close to West Jefferson's downtown area, the arts district, Blue Ridge Parkway, Appalachian State University, Ski attractions. Hike to Beaver Creek, Ashe Lake, and the lake waterfall.
Short drive (~15 minutes) to Wal-Mart, Ingles, gas stations, restaurants, and the Blue Ridge Parkway. Our cabin is in a very convenient location. The drive into the cabin is about a half a mile on a gravel roads, no need for a four wheel drive vehicle, but be prepared for mountain driving into the property. Enjoy!
We purchased this beautiful log home as a vacation home to share with our friends and large family. My husband and I live in Apex North Carolina, a 3 hour car ride from the cabin. We enjoy spending time at the cabin with our four children and extended family. We enjoy renting out the cabin for others to enjoy when we can't be there. We hope you enjoy the place and make your own special memories.
Carolyn and Keith Dowdy purchased this cabin in 2014
We chose to purchase the property because of its location in the mountains for its year around enjoyment. The roads are also easy to manuver and you don't need a 4x4 to get to this property. We enjoy the 3,000 ft altitude in the summer giving us a perfect average temperature in the summer of 75F. The fall is amazing with the changing of the leaves. Winter brings the holiday season with many Christmas tree farms in the area and shops dedicated to all the trimmings of the season. Appalachian Ski Mountain is the closest ski resort at about 30 miles. Spring is a perfect time to see all the beautiful flowers and Mountain Laurel. Golfing in the area is available in the warmer months.
The North Carolina mountains are unique and attract visitors from all over the world for its natural beauty of its people and landscape.
My friends and I had a wonderful time! Carolyn was very helpful and answers any questions I had. We loved the house and the area around it! Beautiful views on the blue ridge parkway nearby and great food in West Jefferson! I would definitely recommend this place and would love to come back again!
Our family had a wonderful Thanksgiving at the cabin. We could not have asked for a better place for our holiday. Thank you to the Dowdy's for sharing your fantastic cabin with us. We loved sitting on the porch watching the sun come up, listening to the creek below. The city and hustle and bustle of life is left behind at this cabin.
We enjoyed our first visit to the NC mountains (with my parents and teenagers). Everything was perfect! We had weather in the 70's and the gorgeous comfortable cabin was better than the pictures. It was like walking into a magazine! The cabin is welcoming from the time you step out of your car! Special touches can be seen throughout the home. We loved the colorful artwork, mountain theme decorations, high-end furniture and hardwoods! The cabin is conveniently located with beautiful scenery from all angles. I give the cabin five stars because everyone had their own comfortable space for retreating and relaxing, plenty of room to sit or rock on the porch and listen to the water from the stream below. We could all eat together together in the kitchen and watch movies downstairs in the family room. It took us some time to figure out the cable channels, but we were able to find movies we could all enjoy. As others have noted, it is very clean and has top of the line appliances. The kitchen is fully stocked with everything you will need, just bring the food to make your family happy! West Jefferson downtown area was great for shopping and restaurants, and not far away you can travel for day trips to Boone, Blowing Rock and Grandfather Mountain. Carolyn the owner was available for questions and she gave great suggestions. She went the extra mile to make this a wonderful weekend vacation. We hope to return in the spring or fall next year! Thanks for an awesome experience!
The rushing creek and the wind rustling through the trees provide the perfect setting for relaxation. Beaver Creek Hill combines the perfect combination of seclusion and convenience. When you pull up to the house you are immediately taken by the beauty of your surroundings. Once inside you feel right at home. Within 10 minutes you have grocery markets so you can stock up, because you will want to bring everything back to the cabin so you won't have to leave again. Of course, if you do want to get out (I'm not sure why you would want to but to each their own), an entrance to the Blue Ridge Parkway is only 5-10 minutes away. Tweetsie Railroad is only a beautiful 30 minute drive away. The owners, Carolyn and Keith Dowdy, were always extremely helpful and very quick to respond to questions. My family enjoyed our stay at Beaver Creek Hill very much. I strongly recommend a stay at this wonderful home.
The cabin was very nice and clean. We stayed the week and enjoyed playing the Ring game on the porch daily! Used the fire pit and saw deer in the yard. Thanks so much and we look forward to being able to return@
This cabin was wonderful! Layout was great and The beds were awesome! Everything was better than stated. I was able to prepare large meals and found every utensil that I needed. My boys loved the creek and lake and my parents adored the deck. I've rented many places and this cabin was by far the most beautifully decorated and equipped equal to a high end hotel. Thanks for sharing your cabin!
We had never been to the mountains in North Carolina. I think we found the best cabin in Ashe County! The cabin was cozy, beautifully decorated and felt like home. It is on a creek and it is very private, but in a great little community. It is also very close to the wonderful town of West Jefferson. Our vacation couldn't have been better!!!!!
Beautiful log cabin with rushing sounds of Beaver Creek flowing 24/7 nearby. Home is surrounded by forest for perfect privacy, yet the Town of Jefferson is just minutes away. The Town of West Jefferson is a small town with lots of charming country stores. Ashe Lake and waterfalls are upstream about a quarter mile hike. Information will be provided on where to find white water rafting, hunting, kayaking, caverns, gem mining, art festivals, hiking trails and downhill skiing/ snowboarding. The town of Boone and Blowing Rock are a short drive from the cabin.
