The Gluten Free House/The Aloha Room

Bedrooms 1
Space 600 sq. ft.
Property type house
Minimum Stay 2 nights

About the property

1 Bedroom, 1 Bathroom, Sleeps 4

This is one bedroom with a private bath. It is on ground level, we live upstairs. The room is very large and has a king size bed and bunk beds with a sitting area.

We are in a secluded area so it is peaceful, but we are close enough to the highway that getting to all the island activities will be easy. Breakfast is included and will be made specifically for your needs and desires. I bake gluten and dairy free and can also make vegan selections.

You will have access to Cable TV, internet, hair dryer, microwave, coffee pot, toaster, blender, stove, and refrigerator.

This is a non smoking property. Smokers are asked to please go to the street to smoke and dispose of smoking items outside the unit.

The house is secluded but also close to amenities. About a 2 miles away is the post office, grocery stores, restaurants, gas stations and a very nice laundromat, South Point Suds, that has a drop off service if you do not want to stay and do your own laundry. They are open 8-6 for drop off. The cost is $1.50 per pound with a minimum of $15. The washer and dryer on property are not available to the guests.

We will be happy to suggest any of the wonderful activities that are available around the island.

We are located about half way between Kailua Kona and Hilo. Kula Kai Caverns, South Point, Punaluu Bakery, Green Sand Beach, Black Sand Beach, and Volcanoes National Park are all relatively close.

About Sandy Stovall

Over 40 years ago I was diagnosed allergic to wheat, dairy, and onion. Now it is difficult to find gluten free foods, back then it was almost impossible.

I taught school on the mainland for 35 years. The last 13 year were spent teaching science lab to 4th and 5th graders. Many of the items on this island were topics I taught.

Sandy Stovall purchased this house in 2013

Why Sandy Stovall chose Ocean View

This home gave me a chance to share the gluten free foods that I have learned to create.

Great in every way!!

  • 5 of 5

We really enjoyed our stay! The breakfast we had every morning was simply delicious, with fruit from the area and all gluten free! Our hosts had plenty of ideas to help us out each day we went exploring! At night when we would return exhausted the bed was wonderful! The experience was amazing and we will return! It was just as advertised and the price was great!

Thank you for letting us stay,

Kind regards

4 stars!

  • 4 of 5

We enjoyed our stay at The Gluten Free House. We liked the set up. It is one bedroom with a queen bed and bunk bed. The bedroom is on the bottom floor of the house and opens to an open air kitchen and dining/sitting area. We thoroughly enjoyed sitting in the open air dining/sitting area for breakfast. The breakfasts were delicious - lots of new (to us) fruit! Sandy allowed us to use her coolers and chairs for our daily excursions. We had use of the open air kitchen as well. The only negative was some boxes and storage items in the open air dining room. Overall we loved it!

Good. Loved the Big Island

Breakfast was great ! Great hospitality.

Spacious clean room. This place is very far from volcano national park and hour away from Kona. But we still took day trips and managed to see everything we wanted to..

The Island experience

  • 5 of 5

We stayed at The Gluten Free house for 8 days and had a great time. Sandy is a wonderful host, the room is large, clean and airy. We always looked forward to starting our day with fresh, hot breakfast provided by Sandy. Sandy has incredible knowledge about the island and is happy to share it and has organized it in a great folder with information on rare gems around the island.

Highly recommended, we will be back one day.

Great accommodations and hostess in Oceanview!

  • 5 of 5

Very enjoyable accommodations. Nice separate entry to a large room with comfortable king bed and private bath. There are even available kitchen facilities right outside the room. Sandy is a wonderful hostess, is very flexible and provides gourmet breakfasts! We enjoyed being on the southern end of the island for shorter travel times to places like South Point, Green Sand Beach, Black Sand Beach and the Hawaii Volcanoes National Park.

Since we are rural, it takes longer than 15 minutes to get to many of the attractions, but included in the available activities are hiking, deep sea fishing, parasailing, surfing, snorkeling, diving, kayaking, jet skiing, submarine ride, horseback riding, and atv riding. There are chocolate farm tours, mushroom farm tours, macadamia farm tours, a zoo, botanical gardens, water falls, and farmer's markets just to name a few of the things to do.
