About Joanne Higginbotham

This is the house I grew up in, I loved living here as a child and I love staying there as an adult.

I am a Science and Math teacher in Virginia. My husband and I have 5 children and we love to travel. We met and married in the Bay Area. We lived in North Yorkshire, England for 7 years before we moved to Virginia.

Joanne Higginbotham purchased this house in 1967

Why Joanne Higginbotham chose San Francisco Bay Area

The Bay Area is the best place, so many things to see and do, and great weather year around.

Guestbook comments from the manager

The property is kind of old and the appliances are functioning but desperately needs an update . We found bugs all over the place and had that smell of old as soon as you enter the property. The master bedroom shower looks like 30 yrs old but working.

This place needs general upkeep and upgrade

dirtiest filthiest house I have ever been in. The furniture came from rejects from the Salvation Army . The drains in both bathrooms upstairs do not drain. The double bed in the master bedroom was deplorable you filled to the floor. You asked me to change the sheets removing the sheets expose the most filthiest bed mattress I have . Ever seen. All the beds were miserable. The coffee machine leaked the toaster broke the oven was filthy , it really was totally disgusting . You're charging quite a bit for cleaning services and it does not look like that house has ever been clean since 1966 . Your review doesn't even write one star, , I certainly would take it off of VRBO until the owner can clean it up

Owner's Response: Obviously your review is very unlike any of the other reviews I have received. I allowed you to change your reservation dates several times, I made a special payment plan for you, I am happy that no other guests I have rented the house has ever had a complaint.

Sisters reunion week

  • 4 of 5

Myself and four of my sisters stayed her for a week. Location is wonderful for San Francisco and wine country area. Also the house itself is a wonderful location in Novato. Peaceful back yard and the flowers were an added bonus as well as the shaded pergola. The house shows a lot of wear . Especially in the formal living area but the den is very large and accommodating. Also plenty of beds and bathrooms for 5 women. I would recommend this to everyone.

Clean and homey

  • 4 of 5

Was in Marin for a family wedding and a sort of re-union. This house was reasonably priced and close enough to where we needed to be that is was only a few minutes away (unless there was traffic on 101, which happened only a couple of times). My first impression was that everything was a little dated but quickly got past that and soon fell into a routine that was very much as if we had lived there for years. The setting at the end of a street leading up to a large open space area and a mountain was VERY quiet and peaceful. Although we didn't meet them face to face, the owner Joanne and property manager Gail were very helpful and accommodating. For example, while there was enough toilet paper for the first couple of days, we needed more. I texted Gail to see if there was more somewhere in the house and she apologized and when we returned that night, there was a whole box of toilet paper sitting on the front porch. All in all, a very nice experience.

Weekend with the Boys

  • 5 of 5

Great place. Met my friend and her husband as well as my husband and mine needs for great weekend with our sons. Very comfortable and clean. Nice view of the mountain with the cows every morning. Centrally located for the things we wanted to do and see. I would recommend for anyone with a wish to visit San Francisco Bay area and don't want to stay in the city with all of the noise and hustle and bustle. Quilt and Beautiful.

Thank you.
