About the property

1500 Sq Feet Beautifully Decorated And Peaceful

During September through December, we will be remodeling in another section of the house. It will not affect these bedrooms other than there will be noise from 8 to 5pm. Pricing will reflect that.

This listing is for the home we live in - in lovely San Diego. You can book from 1 up to 3 bedrooms - just inquire. The quoted price on this listing is for 3 bedrooms. If you rent 3 bedrooms, you will have the house to yourselves. Of course if you want fewer rooms, that price is lower. In that case, you will be sharing the house with us or other guests. Although we are family friendly, we prefer no children under 8 - the pool is not enclosed.

• 1 bedroom (accommodates 2)

• 2 bedrooms (accommodates 4)

• 3 bedrooms (accommodates 6)

Availability depends on what has already been booked. This pricing is for 3 bedrooms. Inquire if you want 1 or 2 bedrooms. Depending on our schedule and your booking 1 to 3 bedrooms, we may be in the house during your stay. Please inquire!

This is an artist's home with many paintings and artistic flourish. Tastefully and cheerfully furnished! You will love the colors! We just remodeled the kitchen and living room and it is beautiful! This is a place for the visual senses and perfect for kicking back – enjoy the tranquility. Any artist would love to call this home! We have furnished each room up to hotel standards. And it is just 5 miles from downtown! Included:

• Linens, towels, washcloths

• Flat screen TVs in every room and DVD players in every room except Twin

• High speed wireless or direct connect internet in every room

• Washer/dryer

• Full use of the house.

• Wood floors throughout

• We also have blow-up beds for extra guests if you need.

• Coffee makers, Mini fridge & microwave in all rooms

• DVDs & Videos stash in the living room (all family friendly)

• All bedrooms have their own entrances and locks to the inside of the house and outside. Two have direct access to the back yard pool via French doors.

• Shampoo & conditioner

We do have cats, and have had several people stay with allergies. All have said that they did not experience problems.

Here is a description of the rooms.

Master bedroom 1: Nicely furnished with a queen bed (it has a thermapedic topper), armoire, TV, DVD player, mini-fridge, Coffee maker, microwave, desk, and has its own nice bathroom with a shower. Although we have cats, they do not come into this room so it's good for allergy sufferers.

The Travel Twin bedroom: We have a really nicely furnished smaller twin bedroom with a shared hall bath. This has a trundle bed that pulls out for a separate twin bed or can be put together for a king size bed. Very comfortable mattresses (one has a Thermapedic topper), cushy comforters, TV, DVD player, mini fridge, desk, coffee maker, and microwave. It has its own access to the pool via French doors. Decorated with a travel theme. Cat free.

The Twin Corner bedroom: This room is a little larger than the Travel Twin and is furnished with two twin beds, linens, TV, desk, a mini fridge, coffee maker, and microwave. These are very comfortable Sealy Posturpedic beds. We can move them together for a king size bed, too. The room is light and airy and has some of my horse paintings as decoration. It shares the hall bath and is cat free. This room has French doors opening to the pool.

Master bedroom 2: This is the bedroom we occupy. Just remodeled to include its own beautiful bath. It has a king size bed, and TV. Exterior French door opens onto an atrium. Cats do go in this room, so it is not good for allergy sufferers.

Back yard:

The back yard pool is situated in a very tropical setting. The neighborhood is quiet, and there is plenty of street parking available next to our home. This is a very peaceful setting and a good place to get away from the hubbub.

We are located central to everything - 5 – 20 minutes by car to all activities: downtown, close to freeways 163, 8 and 5. Our location is 163 and Genesee - next to Sharp Hospital (walking distance), Rady Children's Hospital (walking distance), close to Mesa College, Fashion Valley Mall and Mission Valley Mall (one exit away), 5 miles to the beach (we bike there occasionally), USD (2.5 miles) and other colleges, and to the San Diego airport and Montgomery Field.

There is plenty of on street parking next to our home.

Buses or public transportation:

Our home is a 15 minute walk to the bus line. For some destinations you will have to take a few buses. This is a better location by car unless you’re young and love to hike. There are no restaurants or shopping within walking distance, however we do give rides when we can.

We are a husband and wife - relaxed and fairly easy going middle aged (well, that’s debatable) professionals with some extra rooms. We work full time.

This is a smoke free, drug free, and drama free home. We are well traveled and understand the needs of a traveler. We are friendly but can leave you to your privacy. You truly will find this an escape, an awesome place to kick back, or be close to the action down town.

About Pamela Larson

I'm Pamela and I grew up on the east coast. A Florida girl until high school. An artist by hobby, an instructor of medical software by trade. Always an adventurer. I met Neil at a church singles function and we've been married for 16 years (both second marriages for us).

Pamela Larson purchased this house in 2005

Why Pamela Larson chose San Diego

I lived in this neighborhood for probably 5 years and one day we saw this home up for sale. We fell in love with it and bought it right off. We've done our best to make it a comfortable and beautiful place to locate. It's close to everything.

What makes this house unique

Love the location. It's just so close to every place we want to go. There were hardwood floors under the rugs which of course we pulled up to reveal. And then we remodeled last year. Love this house!

Guestbook comments from the owner

This was my first share experience and I chose the right place for the first time! Pamela & Neil wre very accommodating and the home was beyond wonderful. You can tell that so much consideration was put into decorating, arranging and planning of every room. My own room was very comfortable. It had the touch of home, yet some of the amenities of a hotel room - TV, mini-fridge, microwave, coffee maker, valet stand for my suitcase, lots and lots of information about local attractions, restaurants & areas of interest. My room opened up to the beautiful back patio & swimming pool/jacuzzi (although I did not have a chance to use them). The bed was very comfortable. The temperature was comfortable too and the room had a nice ceiling fan as well. Overall, I loved the experience. This is going to be a tough measuring stick for my next trips! I told Pamela that I regretted not being able to just hang around the house and enjoy it more (had to attend a conference). My daughter is studying interior design and I want to visit again so she can see what a great job Pamela has done with home. Oh and Pamela shared some chard she was growing as well. I've never tried it before, but I will now. :)

Wonderful and Cozy!

  • 5 of 5

We had such a wonderful Thanksgiving here! The house was beautiful and very clean with wonderful artistic touches everywhere. The private, secluded back yard was a relaxing oasis for us to hang out in. The Larsons could not have been more accommodating and welcoming. We truly enjoyed staying here and can't wait to come back!

Lovely home in a great location.

We booked this home last minute and were very pleasantly surprised at the ease of booking. The home is very cozy and in a terrific location for all you would want to do in San Diego. Close to great restaurants and the beaches. We would definitely stay there again.

Lovely home but disgusting and harmful

  • 1 of 5

First off, beautiful home and perfect location however, lots of issues. We were greeted by cat hair and spider webs everywhere. The home is filled with wonderful art that is laden with dust. What a shame. Then on more than five occasions random people entered the back area while my family was in their pajamas . No privacy! The owners daughter and boyfriend camped out front taking up space from our family vehicles . The daughter supposedly was in the shed sharpening knives while the boyfriend drank, smoked and solicited drugs to family members out front.what??? That's right. Insane! The pool and jacuzzi are a joke. Dirty pool with the cleaning equipmentinside it still. The jacuzzi was never used once in the 6 days we were there due to the complexity of the start operations. The grill had 3 propane tanks none of which worked. After all this and it was brought up to the owner, not one response was made and she brushed it off. Then they had the audacity to charge $145 of the deposit due to small stain on couch and stool. (They said this place was kid friendly lol). When you pay thousands for 6 days you would expect to be taken care of. I'm not a fan of these owners . Hopefully this will be motivation for them to make things right and give people a positive experience instead of hearing horrible reviews like this. Happy shopping folks

Owner's Response: Wow, Kima, sorry to hear your stay wasn't what you expected. We strive to make everyone's stay a superb experience. Out of 138 reviews (this and other web sites) yours is the only one that has trashed us. And this is after we built a wheel chair ramp for your mother, and didn't charge you taxes! Wow. Let me see if I can address your issues: There are some things beyond our control - people knocking on your door, pool maintenance people, an unlocked gate, etc. The pool was clean, we have weekly maintenance and a pool sweep that goes for several hours a day. Perhaps you are talking about leaves that fall from the wind on a daily basis as we have a tropical back yard. Can't do anything about the complexity of turning on the jacuzzi. Are you searching for things to complain about here? Our new maid evidently missed the cobwebs and dusting - we are looking for a new one. As for cat hair, the cats haven't been in the house for a long time (several months), but when they are, they are only allowed on one chair that has a clean (I made sure it was clean before your arrival) towel on it. When I returned I looked for cat hair in the house - there was none. Are you talking about outside perhaps? We have addressed family issues that we were unaware of - no longer a problem. As for my unresponsiveness, what could I have done? Maybe get the maid back to sweep the cobwebs? You never told us about the grill. Our house is kid friendly - but we have a rule that states no children under 8. You brought a toddler along. And I was very disappointed in how you left the house. Baby diapers in the trash, trash everywhere, stained stools, stained sofa in several places (that I had to have steam cleaned), black marks on walls, missing remotes, missing room guides. Is this how you live at home? And then you complain about being charged for the sofa. I didn't even charge you for cleaning the stools or the black marks or missing room guide! All I can do is respond to what you say here, Kima. You have done your best to search for things to complain about because I charged you for cleaning the sofa. And you trashed my home and my reputation as a host. And that is just unkind.

Convention 2016

  • 5 of 5

This is the second year in a row that we have stayed at this amazing home. We were not home much, nor was it hot enough, to take advantage of the beautiful backyard and swimming pool. The house is spacious and fully equipped with everything you need for a wonderful vacation or long weekend like we had.

The pictures do not do this property justice!

  • 5 of 5

This was the perfect house for our family (of 6). The layout and amenities were great! It was just as described; clean, well maintained, and (literally) close to everything. They provided us with beach towels, chairs, toys, and a boogie board. We had friends stay the night and a BBQ on our last day. The owners provided excellent costumer service and were very friendly. We will definitely stay here again and I wholeheartedly recommend this property. We had a great time!
