About Patricia Wolf

The heart of the farm and adjacent to the Gambier Loft is the Gothic farm house, a historic, solid brick and stone gem. The home was built in 1872 by the Smith family, lovingly restored over the past 10 years by the Wolf family and is still a work in progress. It features original Victorian moldings, high ceilings, reclaimed barn wood floors and front and back porches. Adorning the house and the Gambier Loft are colorful perennial gardens. The spring house was the home’s original “summer kitchen” and features a historic root cellar, the refrigeration for the farm in the 1800’s. There are two other hand- hewn, post and beam structures on the property other than the Gambier Loft. One is the original chicken house and the other is the large bank barn.

The Farm has panoramic views of rolling hills, woods, streams, spring-fed ponds, cattle and an abundance of wildlife. One might see deer, turkeys, foxes, coyotes, bald eagles, hawks and unusual water fowl in the spring.

Why Patricia Wolf chose Gambier

Just down the road from the Gambier Loft, is the Kokosing River, a state scenic river. Its clear waters are great for kayaking, canoeing, fishing, and swimming. The Kokosing Gap Bike Trail follows the river and is known for its picturesque rural views. The Farm sits between two historic churches and is only 3 miles from charming Gambier, Ohio and Kenyon College. It is about 5 miles from Mount Vernon, Ohio and Mount Vernon Nazarene University. Holmes County and the heart of Amish country is 45 minutes to the north and the Columbus, Ohio is 45 minutes to the south.

Charming country loft with character!

  • 5 of 5

This house is beautiful! I’m not a huge fan of country decor but love staying in cabins and farmhouses. This place is a perfect balance of country, clean lines and simplicity. Clean and comfortable. Close attention to detail. Plenty of snacks and spices in cabinets and plenty of dishes to cook on. Beautiful pasture Views. Comfortable bed. It’s very close to the main house but we never felt like it wasn’t private enough. I would definitely stay here again. Patricia is very warm and welcoming.

Beautiful historic building in amazing setting!

  • 5 of 5

We had a wonderful stay here. Patricia is a fantastic hostess--she's thought of everything in her amazingly well-appointed and gorgeous loft. I've never stayed in a place that was so well equipped and so comfortable! The kitchen has everything you need and Patricia thoughtfully supplies you with fresh eggs, milk, coffee, etc., etc. The setting is fantastic--quiet and just beautiful. We really couldn't have been happier and it's close to Kenyon so great for visiting our daughter there. We will be coming back soon!

Patricia could not have been a better hostess and the loft was wonderful. It was very clean, the beds were comfortable, it was stocked with snacks, eggs, and juice, and we would love to stay there again for a longer period of time!

This was more than we expected. The countryside was incredible and so quiet. Loved bird watching.

  • 5 of 5

Patricia had everything and more for our comfort. The Gambier Loft is so beautiful, and well decorated. Very, Very comfortable. We had family come over to see where we were staying. They were very Impressed! Enjoyed having coffee out on the deck in the early morning. We could see fish in the pond, and listen to the bull frogs. The bench swing was hung from a tree, which allowed us another view of the beautiful fields. For us, it doesn't get better.

Slice of Heaven in Ohio!

  • 5 of 5

My daughter and I were on a college tour of Ohio. We decided to stay outside of Kenyon and I'm very glad that we did. The converted barn is a beauty and the flora and fauna around it are breathtaking. Patricia was the consummate hostess and provided a very helpful tour and even stocked the fridge with some essentials before we arrived! From the Keurig coffee maker to the Nest thermostat, the loft had all the modern conveniences with a lot more history and hominess than any other choice of accommodation in the area. My only regret is that we didn't get the chance to spend more time in the area!
