Villa 'Marraine' (meaning Godmother) is a villa located in a private access residence called 'Polynésie' in the Southern part of the Peninsula of Giens.
The Villa can accommodate 2 to 6 people in total, offering 2 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms and 2 toilets on the main level, with an amazing open space for the living-dining and kitchen area. This open space overlooks the Mediterranean sea and offers a spectacular view from the rising sun to the sunset. It has also a nice paved terrace where you will enjoy your breakfast, lunch or dining time in a typical Provencal ambiance rythmed under the song of the cicadas.
On the first level (below the main level), you also benefit of another living area of 45 sqm with a 3rd bedroom, another bathroom with toilet and a little resting room with direct view on the sea.
Part of the villa is a garden of about 1600 sqm, with Olive trees, a hamac and a sitting place area, very pleasant for reading time or just a nap!
It is also important to say that during summer time, no building work is allowed in the residence and you will just be able to hear the symphony played by the waves, the cicadas and the seagulls.
Few meters from Villa Marraine, you can catch the ancient 'chemin des douaniers' (meaning old custom's path) that will take you to private beaches, marina, and small inlets suitable for swimming, snorkeling and diving.
Not far away, you'll be able to rent bikes, kayak, boats, paddles, get diving or kite surfing courses....You also can enjoy a tennis game in the residence. Just bring your rackets!
Outside the village of Giens, there is the Casino of Hyeres, open all year long, where you can enjoy shows, concerts but also try your luck on table games and slots.
But if you have also a cultural interest, just wander through the little paved streets of the historical center of the city of Hyeres and get into the few museums around.
At night, there are all summer time jazz festivals, concerts and you can also visit and shops tasty local goods, or typical souvenirs at the night street market in the harbour of Hyeres.
This used to be my grandfather house where we all grow up and still gather today. Villa Marraine has a deep feeling between an old Provencal family house and a temporary vacation place where you'll be enjoying a formidable time.
Mr Cardenas purchased this villa in 1965
Location is exclusive, safe area, in a private residence, very quiet, amazing Provencal landscape with sea front view, and private little beaches few minutes walking from the villa.
No need to take your car, a bus or a train to enjoy the beach, to get a nice view or looking for quietness......you have it all here!
My wife and I enjoyed every second of our time staying at this wonderful house. There is so much to explore in the area: the beautiful nearby towns, multiple swimming coves, pristine beaches, and even easy access to a ferry to Porquerolles. However, even with so many great choices, we still had a very hard time leaving the house! The view of the ocean from almost every room is just transfixing and there is a great outdoor seating area (with two hammocks!) as well as a fantastic terrace all of which make lounging around an incredibly easy and comfortable option. We hope to be able to return soon!
I've been lucky enough to rent this home with my family (2 kids now 8 and 11) on two separate occasions and the stays were both incredible. First, the location is ideal: in a secluded and private part of the pristine île de Giens, in front of the ocean and the easiest access to route du sentier which leads to the local beaches by foot (bikes would also be great). Givens is removed from the hustle and bustle of the French Riviera but with all the charm and gorgeous scenery. Second, the home is spacious, decorated with simple and modern elegance (and it has great art), with new bathrooms, kitchen and comfortable bedrooms. We were welcomed by the manager who recommended places to eat and was incredibly friendly. You can take an easy 10 minute boat ride to the island of Porquerolles (no cars allowed -rent bikes once you are there), rated as having two of the most beautiful beaches in France, and it did not disappoint. There are also two other islands nearby, including Port croc, one of France's 10 national park (we'll go back next year to discover that one). Everyday we discovered new beaches around Giens, all different but all offered clear blue mediterranean ocean. Kids loved the snorkeling. Food was amazing. A must see.
Last week I had the pleasure of staying at this beautiful seaside villa in Cote d'Azur. What an amazing location! This peaceful home, nestled in a secure gated community, rests along the cliffside with stunning views of the Mediterranean. There are plenty of trails along the coast to experience many spectacular views. Pack good hiking shoes! There is also access to a private cove with a dock - bring good water shoes!
The villa itself has all of the amenities of home; modern bathrooms and kitchen, plenty of cooking supplies, laundry, TV and internet.
Located a quick drive away are Petit Giens and Porquerolles Island.
I hope you enjoy staying at this villa as much as I did! Can't wait to return!
The village of Giens is known as the Peninsula of Giens, Presqu'ile de Giens in French, and offers amazing public and private beaches, where you can enjoy most of water sports, as well as kite-surfing, but also, walking around the 'island' through dedicated pathways along the sea and enjoy little secret beaches.
