Vacation on the Menominee River in Marinette County

Bedrooms 3
Space 1,450 sq. ft.
Property type cabin
Minimum Stay 2 - 3 nights

About the property

3 bedroom, 2 bathroom on 4 private acres situated on the Menominee River

This property is located about 12 miles north of Marinette Wisconsin on the Menominee River. It has 3 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, with about 1500 square feet of living space. There is a spiral staircase going up to the second floor bedroom that has a bathroom with a Jacuzzi tub and a screened in porch. The living room has a wood burning fireplace and a kitchen with a breakfast bar and door leading out to a deck with a river view. The house sits on 4 wooded acres and has about 320 feet of river frontage. The house is on a corner, so the river wraps around the house with breathtaking views looking south, east, or west. The fishing is outstanding, with groups sometimes catching 100 Smallmouth Bass fish daily. There are rock outcroppings that extend out from shore, drop-offs, and varying currents everywhere making for an enjoyable fishing experience, especially for people that like to wade. Kayaking and tubing down the river, letting the current take you is also a great activity. We will provide 2 kayaks, a canoe, a non-motorized fishing boat, and some tubes to make your experience on the Menominee river a memorable one.

There is a boat landing about 2 miles north if you want to launch a boat. I would not recommend anything larger than a 14 foot boat, the river can be navigated but if you are unfamiliar care must be taken, especially mid summer if the river is low. There is a wayside about 1 mile north, so if you want to kayak or tube, we can drive you and help with the trip. It takes about 2 hours from the boat landing, 1 hour from the wayside to make it back to the cabin. For a longer trip, there is another boat landing 5 miles north. There is another boat landing 3 miles south? Swimming in front of the cabin is nice with sand in front. There are 2 restaurants, one 5 miles north, one 5 miles south both on hwy 180. Both are your northwoods atmosphere and serve typical northwoods type food. The waterfalls tour is another favorite activity, along with spending time at the DeYoung family zoo. 15 minutes to the west is Crivitz, check out the shops, golf courses, or lakes. Marinette is 13 miles.

Great Place

  • 5 of 5

We had a great time playing in the snow, going for walks and enjoying family time. The cabin is very cozy and the surroundings are beautiful. The owner Karen was very welcoming and was gracious enough to lend us some sleds and even snow shoes. We will always treasure our time at tinker's dam and hope to be back soon. The Coots Family

Just what we wanted

  • 5 of 5

Our group of 4 old friends (literally) had the perfect place to spend a few long winter days playing games, watching movies while enjoying a cozy cabin atmosphere. The view was so peaceful by the river and the fireplace kept us cozy. The kitchen had everything we needed to cook in and also close enough to places to dine out. We've never rented a cabin that had absolutely everything we needed and more. The owner was very accommodating and made us feel at home. A summer visit might be in our future.

My wife and I stayed at the cabin for a few days right after New Year's, and it was incredible! The cabin is very cozy, it has everything you could possibly need to have an enjoyable stay, and Karen was very accommodating with us. We'll definitely keep the cabin in mind if we make our way to the area again!

Great property, great house, amazing location. Great scenic view.

  • 5 of 5

We had a great time in tinkers dam even though the weather was extremely cold. We spent the day traveling to some historic sites, antic stores, and even took a drive to iron mountain, Michigan. During the night we would huddle next to the fireplace and and watch movies. Overall we had a great time. looking forward to coming back when it's warmer.

Fishing on the Menominee River, and relaxing on 4 acres by the campfire with a fantastic waterview are the reasons most people choose to stay at Tinker's Dam. Off the property, there are many activities in the area. There is a wonderful family zoo less than 10 miles away which will not disappoint. Marinette county is the waterfalls capital of Wisconsin, and there is also whitewater rafting in the area.
