Our cabin the Dancing Bear Lodge is located in the center of the Colorado Rockies, in the Indian Mountain community of Jefferson Colorado!

A secluded retreat with all the amenities and comforts of home available. 2 gas fireplaces, hardwood flooring and a cozy bear theme throughout the home. We love to relax on the deck, enjoy a fire and s’mores at the fire pit, or swing on the swing outside of the cabin. Deer, elk, and antelope have been seen grazing in the open meadows near our home and we have even spied a fox or two in the area. We are nestled in a heavily wooded lot surrounded by Spruce and Aspens. Our home offers the privacy and seclusion you are looking for and plenty of outdoor leisurely or adventurous activities.

We have a modern kitchen that is fully equipped to whip up any meal, gourmet or not! There is a wide variety of spices are available including salt and pepper. If you are a baker you will love our kitchen! Old fashioned dishwasher is to be provided by the guest, there is no dishwashing machine.

We have 2 full baths and 3 bedrooms. There is plenty of space to relax and recharge. WIFI is available and we provide a washing machine and dryer. Our home is pet friendly, kid friendly, and just simply friendly! We do ask that you take your pets with you when you leave or kennel them while away.

The community of Indian mountain where our home is located offers some great activities for all ages. Some of these activities include. Hiking trails, private park and picnic areas, Frisbee Golf, Pasture Golf, Range, Gold panning, and a great sled/tubing hill. Indian Mountain was a ski resort back in the 1970’s and has its own hiking and sledding/tubing mountain. There is also an old ski lodge referred to as the Comfort Station for your use with restrooms and showers.

Lost Creek Wilderness area is within 10 minutes of the cabin, Pike national forest is accessible. There are hiking, horseback riding, 4-wheeling, and ATV trails ready for exploration. Great fishing at Jefferson lake, Tarryall Reservoir, Lake Antero, Eleven-Mile Reservoir, and lake George. Our personal favorite is Tarryall. We have caught some big Pike and Trout there. We would be glad to share some tips with you. Nearby Ski resorts include, Breckenridge, Keystone, A-basin, Copper Mountain, and Monarch. Most are within 45 min to 1 hours from the Lodge. If you have a favorite vacation activity you can most likely find it here.

Come and unwind, get away from it all. Trade the noise of the city for the hum of the breeze in the Spruce trees. Stay at Dancing Bear Lodge and have some good old fashioned family fun while enjoying all of the comforts of home.

About Loren

My four-legged children Marley an Maddie love our trips to the cabin! They start to get excited once I enter the mountains and have to be let out of the vehicle to run the last half mile to the cabin!

Loren purchased this house in 2006

Why Loren chose Indian Mountain

I live in Denver and it is a quick and scenic 90 minute drive to the cabin where I can leave the hustle and bustle of the city behind to enjoy the peace and quiet of the cabin's remote location.

What makes this house unique

I enjoy being year-round tourist by taking day trips from the cabin to go off-roading, skiing/snowboarding, tubing, whitewater rafting, hiking, snowshoeing...the list is still growing!

During the winter months it is only a 45 minute drive from the cabin to the Summit County ski resorts where you can avoid the heavy traffic on Interstate 70 to/from Denver.

Awesome Mountain Retreat

  • 5 of 5

The Dancing Bear Lodge is an awesome, charming, cozy place tucked away in the Indian Mountain area. Our family enjoyed a three day retreat there - 6 adults, two grand children, two dogs. The aspens were just about at there peak. The cabin was warm, and comfortable and exceptionally well supplied with just about everything you could imagine needing - including games and children's toys. The owner (Loren) even called to make sure everything was OK. One warning - it is remote, but for us that was OK. The cabin is attractively and comfortably furnished with a "dancing bear" and native American motif. We loved it.

Remote and beautiful

  • 4 of 5

Great place for privacy and lots of room for kids to play outdoors. The only negative was that the refrigerator wasn't cooling. But luckily, we had a good ice cooler and there was a bag of ice in the cabin freezer that we used.

A great place that is very welcoming.

This house had everything we could want to make our stay very nice. Our son got married in Lost Park. All the young people camped while we and our older relatives stayed at the house. We of course brought our own food and drink, but that house came with lots of food and condiments and signs everywhere saying to use whatever we needed. The deck was great to barbecue or just sit and visit. TV and internet a great plus. Very comfortable beds and furniture. The decor was very nice too. I can't say enough about the owner Loren. He helped us in so many ways considering how overwhelmed we were with the wedding. Be prepared in summer for seeing the most hummingbirds you will ever see right on the deck. Clear nights You will see the vast sky of stars above including what I believe was the Milky Way above us. I never made it upstairs because of some of my physical issues; but my relatives had great things to say about it. I would definitely recommend this house whether you have kids, a dog, or just several adults that want to get away from all of the city grind. Again, thank you Loren.

The cabin was very cute and had everything we would need to have a wonderful vacation.

  • 4 of 5

The cabin was very cute and really off the beaten path which was nice. It was about 1hr. Give or take from anything from garden of the gods to Breckenridge to Denver aquarium. Met a lot of very nice people when we went shopping in Fairplay and when we went on our Horse back rides. Fun watching the deer and hummingbirds feed just a few feet from you while sitting on the deck.....but the bear was a little more Adrenaline pumping but fun to watch. Took our 3 little dogs which was fun having them with us. Overall was a great memory maker. Couldn't use the outside fire pit do to fireban in the state that week but maybe next time. Thanks again
