Guestbook comments from the owner

Just packing up after a lovely birthday weekend! Your home is just fabulous, so cozy and well appointed. We spent a day in Point Reyes Station and took a couple of gorgeous runs around the area! Those Highland cows are too cute! Can't wait to come back.

A hidden gem

  • 5 of 5

My idea of a perfect vacation is to be at least as comfortable as I am at home. I live in a beautiful home, so I am a tough critic. This Tomales home is beautifully designed and maintained -- with furnishings and kitchenware similar to my own. The kitchen can accommodate the most demanding cook. The living room has multiple couches and chairs for comfort. The yard is huge and well landscaped, with a deck and cavernous outside shower outside the kitchen French doors. Every detail in terms of amenities and supplies has been addressed. Dog-friendly Dillon Beach is less than 10 minutes away, and the awesome Tomales bakery and homemade sausage sandwich shop are within a block. Restaurants, wineries, and scenic spots are less than 30 minutes away -- no need to spend vacation time battling traffic. I cannot imagine a more relaxing or welcoming environment. One thing to note is that entry to the house involves stairs. I will bring more, lighter suitcases and containers when I return!

Lovely little house in a quiet neighborhood

  • 5 of 5

This rental is a renovated Victorian in a quiet residential neighborhood. We enjoyed our stay here and hope other visitors will care for it well so it remains an option in the future.

As other reviewers have noted, the outside is traditional while inside it has modern amenities. To our relief, it was fully stocked with soaps and shampoos and they even had ecologically friendly soaps! There is a stove, an oven, a mini dishwasher, but no microwave (we didn’t miss it). We didn't have time to use the pizza oven or the outdoor shower but that looked fun. The fire pit has been moved away (no biggie) because there were owls in the owl box—but they were shy or had moved out by the time we visited. The garden and yard were full of lovely flowers, fruit trees, and shrubs—great if you have a photographer in the family. Tip: the first night, we were battling the bathroom shower curtains because we didn't notice the magnets in the tub. Once I figured out that the magnets could be used to strategically place the plastic curtains, it was fine. We were allowed to bring our dogs, which was a huge plus. However, please be courteous and pick up after your dog! On our first day, I picked up many dog poops from prior visitors. The tiny “downtown” is half a block away. We stocked up on pastries at the bakery, the general store has basics, and there’s a cute deli next to the bakery. Stock up groceries in Petaluma if you want to cook your own meals. The parking pass to Dillon Beach was available so that saved us the $10 parking fee, which was great. We didn’t stay long at that beach anyway. Point Reyes National Seashore is close by but no dogs on most trails (boo). Be sure to stop at Cowgirl Creamery in Point Reyes Station for yummy cheese or a snack. Bodega Bay is the other direction but bring a map or your dedicated GPS as our AT&T cell phones had ZERO reception while driving around. The house, however, has great land-based AT&T Wi-Fi. It is very quiet during the evenings--and during the day too except for the trash trucks on Tuesday morning and a little buzzing in the wood shop down the street. Finally, stay safe, drive slowly, and share the road with the many bicyclists on Hwy 1!

A lovely stay

  • 5 of 5

We stayed at this property a couple of days and we absolutely loved it. The bedrooms are large and the beds are very comfortable. The house has a fully stocked kitchen and a large dining table. We also loved the outdoor space - a large backyard for our dog to enjoy and a comfortable deck. We had a great time!

Very pleasant stay in Tomales

  • 5 of 5

We rented this home in Tomales with another couple in mid-April. We were completely satisfied with our choice. The home is much more spacious than it looks from the street and has three very nicely furnished bedrooms with comfortable beds. It worked well for us, but I think it would be a push for three couples because there is only one full bath adjacent to one of the bedrooms and another bedroom has an en suite half bath. The common area is open to the kitchen and very comfortable. The kitchen is very well stocked and perfect for us as we all like to cook. There wasn't anything that we lacked in preparing meals. We enjoyed the chickens and the owl in the owl box. The owner is gracious and very responsive. We all thought that the owner had done a wonderful job of keeping an "old time" feel with the exterior of the house while making wise use of some more contemporary, comfortable furniture inside.

We enjoyed hiking at Bear Valley in Pt. Reyes and Bodega Head. There's not much to do in Tomales itself but we did enjoy the historical museum in part of the old high school and the antique shop. We had a good meal at Nick's Cove. We plan to return.

We enjoyed the home very much! it was a perfect spot for us to explore the many beautiful spots in the area. The pizza oven, outdoor shower and chickens added to charm. The house is well equipped for cooking and very comfortable for relaxing after a full day of exploring.
