Guestbook comments from the owner

“Overall experience: Mostly matches expectations but this was one of those when imagination can not match real experience. This place is a gem! Location: It's located right on the lake with 2 person canoe. Its couple of miles away from Gladstone so food is not an issue. One hour drive takes you to places like Pictured rocks or Munising. Two and half hour from Mackinaw. House: The house itself has everything I would expect and more. Each piece in the house seems like choice backed up with years of rich experience in travel and life. Owner: Luke provided the security code for the door which was the only reason we would have interacted with him. He promptly responded to messages on Airbnb. Best thing: The security door solves the issue of checking in or getting keys from the owner. You just get the security code and get in whenever you arrive. There is lotta wood for bonfire. Time of stay: October 15-16-17 ”

Wonderful property right on the bay.

  • 5 of 5

The only thing that could have been better for us was the fishing. The house is absolutely perfect if you are ice fishing the bay. We will definitely be back and will stay here.

nice house, scary neighborhood

  • 4 of 5

The house is fine, but the neighborhood did not feel safe. While walking down the block in one direction, 2 houses down, a large dog chased me back to the home. In the other direction, 2 houses down, the front porch and yard are piled with junk.

Owner's Response: I was shocked as an owner to read this review, I offered to make it up to the renters but they never responded to my calls, texts or emails. I can assure anyone who is considering staying at my home that the neighborhood is both safe and very pleasant. If you read other reviews I think you will find that the location and neighborhood are one of the things my renters enjoy best. The property is located on a private road with large 2+ acre lots and executive style homes. The property down the road with aforementioned boxes cannot be seen from my property, it is a couple of lots down. The owners are both retired science teachers, and while they do have some hoarding tendencies, I can assure anyone that they are harmless. In fact they still substitute teach in the local middle school. The other property referenced does have a dog, it is owned by a single mother of two children ages 8 and 12, she is an English professor at the local college, my daughter watches their chocolate lab dog on occasion and I have never worried about it being aggressive. Again, I can assure anyone considering this property that the neighborhood is completely safe. In-fact the home was rarely locked prior to becoming a vacation rental. Please read the other reviews to ensure your satisfaction in renting my property. Sincerely, luke siebert (owner)

Clean and homey with a gorgeous view of the bay!

  • 5 of 5

My dad and I recently stayed at the blue house on the lake while we were in escanaba for a knife making grind in at Bark River knives. After many hours of searching on Homeaway I found this beautiful property and the reviews definitely were accurate. Luke was very responsive to any questions I had and the home was very clean and homey. We had a beautiful view of Bay de Noc and the location is perfect for folks who want to get away from the hustle and bustle. We would love to come up again with a bigger group since the size could definitely accommodate more people. This property was very reasonably priced for all it had to offer. I only wish we would have been able to spend more time outside by the campfire and out by the dock. It would be a perfect location for a family or couple getaway. Biggest seller for me was that it was nicely decorated and clean! I can't stress how nice it is to stay in a clean place! Definitely would stay here again. Thanks Luke!

This house was perfect for our group! The location is very quiet and peaceful right on the water. Everything was as described and Luke laid out everything for us ahead of time. Everything was so easy. Thanks!

Great place to stay!

  • 5 of 5

We came up for a quick weekend getaway. The weather wasn't the best, which made having the fireplace even better! Loved that! We did venture out into the water twice. It was great that it was sandy and we could go out, what seemed over 1/4 mile with water just over our waists. The place was clean. Plenty of room. Very comfy bed! Nice kitchen. Lot of movie choices. We had a situation with damp towels, and Luke, who was staying in the attached half, took care of it right away. And even though was a duplex, did not hear him at all. The electronic access was nice, so we didn't have to worry about handing off keys. We were also able to use half the garage, which was nice as we had a trailer with ATV along. We hit two local taverns for lunch one day, and supper another. Had a very nice time! Oh, also saw some deer in the yard the one night.
