This little cottage sits under a mighty Black Oak on a quiet street in downtown Hermann. The guest house will be all yours, and will fit up to 4 guests. We are in the heart of historic wine country, with many wineries and breweries close by. Hermann was founded by a German group in the early 1830's and most of the buildings are still standing and remain vital today. There are shops, museums, restaurants, and more attractions. The house has 2 bedrooms upstairs with queen size beds that share a newly remodeled bathroom. It has central air and heat, and a completely stocked kitchen and bbq grill should you choose to eat in. The living room is equipped with a satellite flat screen TV, games, movies and CDS. Coffee and teas are onsite. Even popcorn is there for you to snack on. The house is decorated in an eclectic country cottage style, with hardwood floors throughout, and many antiques, and creative décor. The yard is full of seasonal flowers, and herbs. We provide you with scissors and bags to cut them for your dining. Relax on the patio and listen to the church bells nearby or walk this safe charming little town and see our many local attractions.

Why Tom & Kathy Durham chose Hermann
This guest house gives you the privacy you won't have in a hotel or typical B & B. We are situated on a quiet residential street, 1 block from the main street in town, with all the shops within a few blocks. You won't ever be renting with another group, and if just one or two of you want to rent the whole house, you can! We have special rates during the week, and military discounts! We reserve most weekends for a 2 night stay, however in the off season, or last minute booking we can sometimes do 1 night..depending on the weekend. Sunday through Thursdays are available for one night.
What makes this Cottage unique
We love our quaint house, since it is loaded with charm, and has been lovingly restored . The stairs are unique corner stairs, with the original 1895 handrail that curves. The windows are all original with wavy glass too! The beautiful tall windows and ceilings add to the quaintness. We love to garden, so you can walk our gardens and see our cute shed. Sit on the patio set with umbrella for outside dining. Sip coffee in the back garden in the morning, smell the lavender growing, watch the birds and butterflies. In growing season, we provide sheers to cut herbs and use in your cooking. Parking is curbside, but only 10 feet away. Come visit our little piece of Heaven in Hermann, MO!

Great Weekend Getaway
I spent two nights at the Black Oak Inn with my sister and mother. We had a great time and found the house to be a wonderful choice for our stay. It is decorated so well and the garden was also a beautiful place to hang out. We found everything we might need to prepare meals in the kitchen and found the house very accommodating overall. We would definitely recommend staying here, and would stay here again on a future visit!
Thanks so much for the great review! We appreciate your great care of our Inn.
My sister and I stayed here this weekend and had an amazing time!!! The house was absolutely perfect for us, beds were so comfy and it is located within walking distance to enjoy Hermann to shop, go to the wineries, etc!!! I will recommend this house to my friends!!! Thank you for a great weekend!!!!
Great place to stay!
We were so happy we found this cute, clean house. It is a great place to stay while in Hermann.
Thanks Sarah, we were glad to have you, you were excellent guests!
Perfect in every way!
The house has absolutely everything that you could need. Plenty of fluffy towels, soft sheets and a fully stocked kitchen. The fresh fruit, pastries and herbs were wonderful additions.
There was even a ice pack in the freezer we discovered when our daughter accidentally hurt her toes.
Glad you enjoyed our home, we loved having you!
Best location for The Great Eclipse of 2017
A year ago my astronomer husband began searching for a good location within a day's drive of our home in Oklahoma to view the total solar eclipse. Upon settling on a general area he then began to look at homes on VRBO in which to stay. At this point, I, being all about esthetics took over the hunt and I found that perfect place in darling Herman Missouri. Herman, small, quaint, beautiful, friendly...I could go on and on. Now about the place, The Black Oak Inn. It is beautifully decorated using appropriate items for the age of the home but not overdone. The kitchen is well stocked, the beds are comfortable with luxurious linens, the big back yard is wonderfully planted and perfect for viewing an eclipse.
The owners are approachable and helpful, and did I mention that they have a neat shop nearby? On the kitchen table when we arrived was an eclipse kit consisting of glasses for viewing, a commemorative magnet and chocolates for sustenance. Is that a great host or what?
We loved the town, the friendly people, our wonderful hosts...I guess we just about loved everything.
If you are looking for a quaint little place for a week or a weekend you can't go wrong with Herman and The Black Oak Inn. We will never forget it or our profound eclipse experience while there. Thanks Kathy!
Thank You for the great review, it is much appreciated...You were also great guests!
