We loved it

  • 5 of 5

Truly lovely beach house in a quiet neighborhood. After vacationing in downtown Cape May for almost 20 years, this was our first trip to the Point. We loved it, and I can't see going back to downtown.

The house itself was lovely. Perfectly updated and beachy. All the bedrooms are oversized. Large deck. The public spaces (kitchen - living room - dining room) are a bit small, but if you're traveling with kids, they'll have lots of room to play downstairs in the bedrooms and in the yard. When the weather is nice, the deck more than doubles the hang-out space. We were a party of five, myself, my husband, two teenagers and my mom. The property worked beautifully for all.

One block to the beach. Walk-able to the lighthouse and state park. October was fantastic for naturalists. All kinds of birds migrate and stop at the Point, as do Monarch butterflies. The walking trails through the park are level, mostly decked, and vary in length for all abilities. Gorgeous views. This was a highlight.

The owner was perfectly responsive and a joy to deal with. Highly recommend. We will stay here again.

Exactly what we were hoping for

  • 5 of 5

Two of my close friends are birders, and the three of us stayed at Colleen's house for five days in early October. Her house is exactly as shown on her VRBO page, and we had a wonderful time.

We chose Colleen's house because of its proximity to the Audubon center, the bird sanctuary and the state park; and because it had pretty much everything we were looking for.

The house was spotless, the rooms thoughtfully decorated, the beds comfortable, the kitchen well-appointed, and the second-floor common areas (deck, sitting area, kitchen area) inviting and pleasant.

My friends are amazing cooks, but we had dinner each night at the restaurants that Colleen had recommended; and at each place we had excellent meals.

The beach was literally steps away from the house, and we pretty much had the beach to ourselves. An added plus was stargazing at night -- very little ambient light.

Colleen was exceptionally responsive to any questions we had -- she was not in Cape May but we were easily able to reach her through texting or a phone call. She has also provided a binder that explains things that might be confusing -- like how to work the TV or the showers (lovely European showers but with uncommon controls).

Colleen's house was a wonderful 'home away from home,' and it was really central to the great time we had in Cape May Point. We hope to return!

Wonderful beach house - immaculate & tasteful

  • 5 of 5

This review is quite late to post, we rented over Labor Day weekend 2013. Colleen was wonderful in accommodating a last minute request. The house was steps from the beach with beautiful second floor porch. The kitchen had everything we needed, and the place was just absolutely lovely! Spacious enough to accommodate 8 adults visiting. We enjoyed taking the bikes out to the town and the light house. Beautiful sunsets. Couldn't ask for a more peaceful getaway. The pictures don't do it justice.

Wonderful Retreat!

  • 5 of 5

We had a wonderful stay and throughly enjoyed the house. The owner, Colleen, was very accommodating and made sure everything was prepared and taken care of for our New Year's stay. The whole interior of the home is beautiful and well kept. The kitchen is fully stocked with everything that you could imagine to feel at home. As for the location, PERFECT! Hoping to return again soon!! Great stay! Thank you for sharing your home with us!

Great location, beautiful house!

  • 5 of 5

This was a great stay for our group of 8 plus one infant. This is a truly beautiful home. Every detail of design and decor seems perfectly thought out. The tile work throughout is wonderful and the design details in every room are really perfect. The flooring is great and the furniture and beds really comfortable and brand new.

It seemed like this home was very recently renovated and the designer should be credited with a fantastic job. It is immaculate, and the location is great, a very short walk to the beach in a quiet, residential neighborhood great for kids to run or ride around in. The kitchen was by far the most well equipped, and well stocked of any rental property we have ever booked - there is everything you could need and more. the kids loved the boogie boards as well, and we also appreciated the bikes.

Our only complaints were that the dishwasher did not work, or at least we could not get it to work. The seemed to be no water flow. Additionally, there was no laundry detergent available and, because there was an empty box on top of the washer, we didn't realize until late the last night, too late to buy some. A bummer not to be able to use two of the major appliances, which, by the way, we're all top of the line and brand spanking new.

If you are thinking of renting in Cape May Point you need to know that the beach is on Delaware bay, not the ocean. This has some pluses and minuses. The water on the bay is generally calmer and great for kids but it is a little darker and less blue than around the point on the ocean. The beach here is way less crowded though, and really quite beautiful. The neighborhood is residential and quiet. Perfect really. The only drawback is that there is only one restaurant within walking distance - The Red Store. The good news is that it is fantastic so you're OK as long as it's no closed from the moment you arrive until the morning you leave, as it was in our case. Just plan to cook some (why wouldn't you in that kitchen) or drive to Cape May, and you'll be fine.

All in all, this was an outstanding stay at the beach. I would definitely recommend this home for a stay in Cape May Point!

Goddess Retreat

  • 5 of 5

Thank you for an amazing weekend at your beautifully decorated home. We celebrated our two friends' 60th birthdays in style. We cooked in your well-stocked and appointed kitchen, had deep conversations by the cozy fire, slept soundly in your comfortable beds, created a nature mandala on your front deck from materials gathered from our nature walks, had lazy conversations on the rockers on the porch, and took rejuvenating walks at the beach just steps away from your front door. We couldn't have asked for a more perfect weekend! We'll definitely be back!
