This home is a beautiful 3 bedroom, 2 bath stilt home upstairs, with granite countertops, stainless steel appliances, and beautiful decorator details everywhere you look. Downstairs is a permitted finished mother-in-law suite with a 1 bedroom, 1 bath, living room, dining room, and full kitchen. There is a king size bed in the master bedroom, along with a vintage claw foot tub / shower, flat screen tv, and a private balcony. In the next bedroom, there is a queen size bed in this oversized room and plenty of closet space. In the next guest room there is a twin bed and a hepa filter air purifier. The family room has a 46' led tv, and leads out to a huge screened-in porch. The porch has comfortable seating, a second dining table, and overlooks the water. It is perfect for having an outdoor dinner with family or friends. The property has a security fence, plenty of parking, covered and otherwise, and even room for one trailer. There is a ping pong table, a ring toss game, an above ground pool, and a relaxing hammock, all for your enjoyment! This truly is a paradise retreat. The back yard is shaded by palm trees. The dock is expansive, and can fit up to two 30' boats. There are also davits which could be used for a small skiff. Newly added 500 lbs per day ice machine. If your here to fish or lobster this will stuff your boat full of ice every day.
My name is Bryan, and i have lived in florida most of my life. My wife is a native floridian. We are avid fisherman who live in florida, but wanted a house in islamorada to have access to the best fishing possible.
Bryan Rexroat purchased this house in 2014
We chose this house because it was the best of both worlds. The house itself is beautiful, comfortable, and makes you instantly feel like you are on vacation. Then, you are on a great canal that only takes a few minutes to get out to the bay, and just another 10 or 15 more to get to the ocean side. Excellent fishing and beautiful views surround the property.
Our home is unique because of all of the little details like an antique captain's bell on the wall as you walk in, or an old ship's light that actually works, or galley doors for the closets. There is beautiful raised fresco detailing over the family room wall, and local photography hung on the walls. And then there is the relaxing oasis created in the backyard by the many palm trees shading the area over which the hammock is hung, sitting next to the flowing canal filled with wildlife. Come and check it out for yourself!
First off, I should identify myself as a resort owner and I well understand a good rental...and this one IS that one. Very comfortable home with just about everything you need for a wonderful time in the Keys. Top notch appliances make for an easy stay. The washer/dryer certainly saves some time spent in a laundry washing clothes. We are boaters so having a nice dock really added yo the convenience. Water and electric on the dock are nice amenities. I loved the ice machine that makes more ice than you can possibly use. Chairs everywhere and the upstairs deck was awesome. We entertained many friends here and the downstairs apartment made it perfect for everyone to spend some time with us. Cable TV is good even tho it went out a few times which was not the owners fault. Lots of restaurants in the area and good hiking/biking in this nice neighborhood. Oh yes...the neighborhood...really nice people watching out for each other. We were often invited to join neighbors for evening beverages and conversation. Ping Pong, darts and "the Ring Game" rounded the whole visit out. And I have mention daily manatee visits. They were fun. You won't go wrong staying here...we're coming back!
My extended family (3 seniors, 4 adults and 2 kids) spent the tail end of December in the Keys for the holidays and we absolutely loved this place. We all flew into Miami and it was a quick drive (about 90 mins) down to the house which was extremely easy to get to. The house was more than expected and offered so many creature comforts than even publicized. My brother's family was able to live separately in the lower unit which had it's own kitchen, A/C, bathroom, etc.. Everything from the beds, the linens, the appliances, the décor...all were excellent. We had visits from manatees every day and my nephews caught a few fish right off the pier. The weather was excellent for December (between 75-85, shorts weather!) but unfortunately the pool water was a little too cool to use. It was about a 2 hour drive to Key West which wasn't bad but we only ended up going to KW once because of the drive. We also kept driving down to Bahia Honda State beach (by far the best beach -- skip all the rest, just go here and go before 11am!!) which became tiring to drive back and forth for an hour each way. Nearby, we hung out at Robbie's several times and also did John Pennekamps a few times. Around the corner is Founder's Park which is a really decent beach but you do have to pay a small fee per person. It's worth it if you don't want to drive to another beach with room between people.
Only negatives, we were the first family to use this place and we experienced issues with the A/C in the upper unit but honestly, even with the holidays, Bryan was super quick to respond and send guys to service the unit. Second issue is that the pool wasn't cleaned and turned a really bright green color ala St. Patrick's day...but we weren't using it anyway and most likely the weekly service had a skip due to the holidays. (when we arrived it was crystal clean)
Overall, I'd jump at a chance to use this property again and would absolutely recommend it to anyone that's looking to stay in the keys for something low KEY (get it? "KEY" -- haha -- ouch)
This was our fifth year visiting the Keys and this rental turned out to be everything we expected and more! The house was exactly as described, well equipped and was very comfortable for 6 adults. Upon arrival we were greeted by a small group of manatees in the canal. The weather was a little cool so we never used the above ground pool. The screened porch was very comfortable for enjoying the morning sun and evening dinners. We were there to mainly relax, kayak and use our bicycles. We were able to find several nearby places to put in the kayaks, one right in the neighborhood and also Founders park (2 miles away). Kayaking was excellent and as a bonus we saw puffer fish, star fish, sharks, rays, manatees, plenty of shore birds and 2 crocodiles (near Robbies).
Bryan was a pleasure to deal with.
Our home is centrally located on beautiful plantation key, in the heart of islamorada. Here you have the best fishing at your back door while having restaurants, tourist attractions, and stores close by. All of this is yours while being surrounded by a tropical oasis, with palm trees everywhere, a large canal frequented by tarpon and manatees, and even a hammock to relax in!
