About Carol A. Pitman

My husband and I were married on Bailey Island in 2002 at the Log Cabin Inn. We fell in love with Bailey Island and built a log cabin on Bailey in 2006. In January of 2014 we purchased this home which is next to our home....giving us 3 acres on Bailey now. We are excited for our children and grandchildren to enjoy this beautiful place and for you to experience the serenity and charm of Bailey island too.

Carol A. Pitman purchased this house in 2014

Why Carol A. Pitman chose Portland & Casco Bay

Bailey's Hidden Treasure was just completely renovated and beautifully decorated. It is warm and inviting with all modern amenities and lots of space inside and out to relax and play....even an elevated playhouse reached by a safe stairway with side handrails.

What makes this house unique

If you are looking for a private getaway yet only a short walk to all island amenities and activities....Bailey's Hidden Treasure is the place! Hike, bike, kayak, paddleboard, swim, or relax and take it easy. Watch lobstermen bring in their catch and then enjoy those lobsters at home or at one of 3 island restaurants. Listen to salty Maine fishermen spin their tales while eating breakfast at the Bailey Island General Store.

Best Vacation Rental Ever

  • 5 of 5

After only a short time in the house, my wife remarked that she could live there. The home is phenomenal! Extremely well maintained, very large, yet cozy spaces to spend time together. My kids loved the tree house and basketball hoop. Sitting on the deck in the morning was so relaxing. The owners even had recently added pumpkins throughout the outside, with Halloween around the corner, this was just a small touch that made the home feel even more like our own. The only drawback to our trip was how short it was. We will DEFINITELY be staying here again when we return to the area. Book it right now if it's still available! It's an amazing value and the owner is a pleasure to do business with! We had 4 adults and 2 children (ages 9 and 10) and there was room for more!

Perfect Maine Retreat!

  • 5 of 5

My wife and I were invited to a wedding at the Driftwood Inn (walking distance from this home), we contacted Carol about her home and she immediately got back to us about pricing & availability. We shared the home with two other couples and were so impressed with how pristine the property was. The fireplace was perfect for the cool nights and the open kitchen and dining room made spending time with each other very easy.

I would recommend this home for those needing a lovely vacation home and especially those with a family (the playset is awesome!).

Fall getaway

  • 5 of 5

This was a great house to stay in; well kept with lots of great extras and details. It was ideal for our family. There was a little toy room that we used so that my son could play while we slept in. There was also a great outside tree house area. We brought a little stool so that my son could wash his hands but Carol had them on each floor. You really do only need to bring clothes and personal items.

While the beaches aren't the most kid friendly, they are dramatic and totally safe if you use beach shoes. Mitchell field was a great place to have the kids bike especially if they are learning. A great place for sunsets too. Had a great time!

Clean, beautiful, KID FRIENDLY beach home!

  • 5 of 5

We booked this home because it featured a beautiful swing set and included a crib, but we were blown away by all of the extras for kids, which really made it perfect for a young family: high chair and booster seat, a paw patrol potty, tons of matchbox cars and a track table, pack n play, books, dinosaurs, an exersaucer for the baby, kids cups and silverware, etc. Our kids were in heaven and we didn't have to leave the house! The host was beautifully kept, adorably decorated in light beachy colors and has a gas stove which was wonderful and cozy for chilly nights! We had fun walking to the giant steps each morning and to the general store for breakfast. We love to travel but have found it too difficult with young kids, but Bailey's Hidden Treasure made it so comfortable and easy.

Amazing Stay at Bailey's Hidden Treasure!

  • 5 of 5

We stayed at Bailey's Hidden Treasure in late August and it was perfect for our family of 4!

The house was immaculate, bright and airy and had every amenity (no need to bring anything except personal items and clothes!) we could think of! Traveling with 2 kids, age 2 and 4, isn't always easy but Carol, the owner, had coloring books, sticker books, crayons, tons of toys (including bikes, train table, etc.) that kept the kids busy during down time. The pirate tree house was tons of fun for the kids as well. Our son loved the car bed in the loft. And our daughter loved the mermaid theme throughout! It really felt like home, but even better. The family room is comfortable to just sit back and watch a movie or read. We hosted friends for a bbq one night and it was a perfect setting eating out on the deck, while the kids played on the swings and in the yard. At night you can hear the waves crashing. The house has easy access to the Giant Steps (amazing views!), a small beach (which we went to at low tide and collected rocks and shells) and breakfast at the Driftwood Inn (simple, comfort food). The location is secluded in that we only saw a few people walking the dirt road for our entire stay. But it's so easy to get to Freeport, Bath, Brunswick, to name just a few. Highly recommend renting a kayak from H20 Outfitters, right after the cribstone bridge. And then grab a bite at Morse's on the other side of the bridge. So much to do in the immediate area and within an hour's drive. We will definitely be back!

A little slice of Heaven!

  • 5 of 5

This house is the perfect summer vacation spot. A cool island breeze with the fresh vibrant colors make this the perfect retreat. It is such a comfortable homey place and Carol has thought of every possible detail to make this house perfect!! Carol left a binder of "things to do" and "places to go" - this was so helpful since we were not familiar with the area. We enjoyed the local vibe on the island and everyone was so friendly!
