Only 75 min from St. Paul, Minnesota, this beautifully remodeled resort in Polk County, Wisconsin was COMPLETELY remodeled in 2015/2016. It is situated on the east side of Balsam Lake - where you’re able to enjoy its beautiful waterscape sunsets from both the cabin or the large, 8 person seat at the end of the dock.
This lodge is very spacious with over 5,500 square feet, complete with 7 bedrooms, a living room, family room, entertainment room, spacious kitchen, mud room, and much more. The living room has vaulted ceilings and a log fireplace where you can curl up on the couch for late night movies on the 60” TV. The family room area is great for the kids to hang out and play or watch their own movies on another 60" TV. Or enjoy a game of pool, ping pong, Foosball or shuffleboard - all in the lower level! And the entire family can enjoy meals together in the fully equipped kitchen and huge, 18' custom dining table that seats your entire group!
The cabin’s 7 bedrooms are furnished with 6 queens and 7 bunk beds (14 twins). Every bedroom has a closet large enough to fit a crib mattress and/or Pack & Play – doubling as a separate sleeping space for families. The cabin also has 5 bathrooms, complete with 9 sinks, 2 showers and 2 shower/tub combos.
The property has a large, level yard and a huge, 1,000 SF dock with plenty of space for your boat to tie-off. Up to 2 boat lifts are also available for an additional fee. The end of the dock is a spacious, 16’x12’ sundeck and is also furnished with a 12’ bench that comfortably seats 8 adults – perfect for enjoying sunsets or the frequent, late night fireworks from neighboring cabins around the lake. Your children will absolutely love the sandy shore/lake bottom and the 10’ waterslide! Plus, out 100 feet from shore, the water is just 3-4 feet deep – plenty of ‘safe’ water for your kids to play for hours! The fire pit will also satisfy the evening sweet-tooth for those who enjoy s’mores or other campfire meals and treats.
Balsam Lake itself has much to offer – 2000+ acres of beautiful water, sandy lake bottom and great bays for water skiing, wakeboarding, tubing and all other water sports. With 7 occupied islands (and many smaller ones) and over 65 miles of shoreline, you’ll never run out of lake to explore! There is also great fishing (panfish and sport fish - including walleye), a restaurant you can reach by boat, and a marina with pontoon and fishing boat rental and a gas pump for fueling up on the lake! Plus, the natural springs that feeds the lake help to keep the water circulating and cleaner than manmade lakes. Wild life at the lake is a bonus enjoyment – turtles, loons, ducks, eagles, deer and even black squirrels! Downtown Balsam Lake is a quaint little strip and also fun to explore – great ice cream shop (a must-visit spot if your group has little ones), antique store, bait and tackle shop, dollar store, taverns, restaurants and more.
Winter activities are also a highlight of this cabin. Snowmobiling, cross-country skiing and snow shoeing are all enjoyable activities on the frozen tundra or the 18 mile Cattail State Trail. Plus, Balsam Lake’s ice fishing could arguably top its summer fishing! After a short 25 minute drive, you can find yourself at either of the region’s best downhill ski areas – Wild Mountain or Trollhaugen! Not to mention, both have awesome outdoor summer fun activities as well.
We know a great, large lake place is hard to come by. That’s why we are excited to share ours with you! We hope you’ll feel right at home as you walk in the door of our cabin… We know you will make special memories together as you enjoy both the cabin and this beautiful lake in this peaceful “Up North” setting.

Our family of 19 had rented cabins for years - with great stress of finding a place that could actually accommodate us all. Literally hundreds of hours would go into the search for the best place each season - only to be repeated again because accommodations were never perfectly suitable. We're cabin folk, and we love a good time with family at the lake.
Bradley Arkell purchased this cabin in 2014
We took the plunge in 2014 and decided to buy a property to use ourselves but decided it was so perfect that we should also share with other families - like you!
It's huge! And it really is an amazing cabin. Beautiful inside and an amazing lot and lakeshore outside. What more can we say?
Our family had the best time at this beautiful cabin. It was beautifully decorated for Christmas, our grandkids loved the tall tree. The cabin was very spacious and had everything we needed. We really enjoyed the game room and sledding on the lake. It was fun making Christmas dinner with the family in the fully stocked kitchen. We had a great time and would love to celebrate family time in this wonderful cabin again. Thank you so much for sharing your great house with us!
We had our family vacation here from 07/23/17 thru 07/27/17 and it was awesome! Everyone had a great time. Fishing was really good also! One of the grandsons (he is almost 6) wants to go back to the cabin and stay for 100 days!! It was a very comfortable stay and Brad answered all of my questions very quickly and was very accommodating!!
Thank you Brad and family for everything!!
We were a group of seven adults from Canada who were going to the area for a wedding. We all wanted to stay together and were willing to give up some of the amenities to be able to do that. We were pleasantly surprised at our arrival, and to this day, still talk about our amazing experience in this home. We all had our separate "quarters"; we had an amazing kitchen to share our meals in; we all had a cozy living room to watch tv and discuss (argue) about the race for the presidency; we had a beautiful yard to sit out in the sun and a dock to sit and contemplate life and the lake. And best of all we had a giant checkerboard in the games room to relearn the game on. This house truly felt like a home away from home for all of us. And besides that - it is a beautiful home, clean, nicely decorated and with all the amenities!
We held our Board of Directors meeting at the lake cabin. The setting proved to be incredibly beneficial. The lake house is tucked on a gravel road with enough parking for half a dozen cars. The house is well maintained and filled with ample seating and comfy beds. The kitchen is ideal for a large group and offers plenty of cooking space. I only wish we would have come over the summer so that we could have enjoyed the lake. I would highly recommend this property to anyone who can drive 1 1/2 hours from St. Paul and needs a charming state of the art lake house with the traditional touches of a lake house.
Fantastic property and great location. Owner was a pleasure to work with and the visit exceeded all of our expectations. Can't wait to come back.
We had a wonderful 5 days celebrating our parents' 50th anniversary. The property exceeded expectations in accommodating our several families with kids - everyone was able to have their own space. The grandchildren made full use of the downstairs rec room, and the main floor had more than enough room to handle everyone for meals and relaxation. The kitchen is very well stocked. The large, flat backyard was great for outdoor activities, and kids spent hours in the water. We have hundreds of pictures from 5 straight evenings with incredible sunsets over the lake.
We rented a pontoon for a day from Sunnyside Marina (<5 minutes away) - easy, efficient service. Enjoyed a beautiful round of golf at the Luck Golf Course (<20 minutes away).
Brad was very responsive and pleasant to deal with. We highly recommend this property!
