Cottage, 1 Bedroom, 1 Bath, (Sleeps 2)
Unlike many other properties where you are given a set of keys and a phone number to call, your hosts live on the property in the separate manor house, friendly and available to answer all your questions and give their recommendations for restaurants, things to see and possible places to go during your pleasurable stay at Deerpond.
Bob purchased this Cottage in 1997
Why Bob chose Woolford
The waterfront setting with acres of land and a $million backyard.
What makes this Cottage unique
The waterfront setting changes by the minute as birds come and go, squirrels and rabbits play on the lawns, deer graze on the grasses (and sometimes the plants –which is not a good thing) and boats pass in the distance. It’s like living in a game reserve by the water. Then there is the peaceful quiet at night with almost none of the man-made sounds. You sleep like you never slept before.

A great retreat
A wonderful retreat. The Coach House is cosy but roomy, well equipped (wanting for nothing at all) and with a great view from the balcony overlooking the garden and the inlet from Chesapeake Bay, especially at dawn. Our hosts, Bob and Cathy were delightfully friendly and hospitable. The area around that part of Maryland is interesting and grows on you. The highlight for us was the Blackwater National Wildlife Reserve which was one of the best we have been to in the States. There are no shops or restaurants nearby though Woolford itself has a General Stores and a post office, and slightly further away near Church Creek is “Emily’s Produce” with fresh veg, fruit and freshly cooked pies and even complete meals. We had a great week at Deerpond and would like to return.
Thank you so much for the fine review.
We enjoyed having you stay with us. Judging by the number of photos taken, you are taking many memorable scenes at Deerpond back to your home in the UK.
relaxed and beautiful getaway
We totally enjoyed our stay! The property is just as advertised.
Very comfy place to stay for 2. Owners home is attached to carriage house by deck and hosts are available but in no way intrusive. We quite enjoyed chatting and homemade baked goods were a special treat!
View to river is beautiful esp with full moon and at sunset. The only suggestion is for larger sofa so 2 can share comfortably.
Location was perfect for us to explore Blackwater and area, dinner in Cambridge and easy day trips to Easton/St Michaels.
Would absolutely visit again.
Cozy and Cute in a Lovely Setting to Boot!
Much appreciation to hosts Bob and Cathy for their attention to detail at Deerpond Cottage House and the picturesque grounds on which it sits. From the wine and treats nicely presented with fresh flowers upon arrival to the abundant homey decor adorning the cottage, guests instantly feel welcomed to their property of which they are rightfully proud. The cottage and grounds alone offer peace and serenity for a restful short stay while its location on Maryland’s Eastern Shore serves as a great jumping off point to nearby attractions for an extended visit. Moreover, the hosts are available (and are most gracious) to tend to guests’ potential needs but yet remain very respectful to their privacy. Thanks again to Bob and Cathy (whose baking is all the reviews say it is!) for a stay we will fondly recall!
Excellent Romantic Getaway
The property is kept up immaculately, along with the room. Bob and Cathy were great hosts with tid bits of info and food. Thanks so much for everything. I will also state here that this is a place in the wilderness of God's awesome creation. Do not come here expecting to have a 5 minute drive to town. Come here to relax, unwind, and recreate.
We'll Be Back!
Bob and Cathy are excellent hosts. Property is beautiful, location is peaceful and the cottage is top notch in everyway. We enjoyed the kayaks, the pool, and exploring Dorchester County. Only regret is we couldn't stay longer.
Lovely place to stay. Bob was welcoming and available. Nice baked treats and fresh tomatoes left on the stairs. The property was easy to get to, but secluded enough for real privacy. The kitchen had everything we needed and everything was quite comfortable.
Bird watching from your balcony. Finest Cycling in the mid-Atlantic region. Ironman course passes by the foot of our street.
