Overview

About the property

2 Bedrooms, 1-1/2 Bath, Sleeps 4 max

Our gorgeous two story floating home is a contemporary slice of heaven and has been totally updated with great love and attention to detail. It has the best views around, including Richardson Bay, Tiburon/Belvedere, Mt. Tamalpais and San Francisco.

It is a perfect rental for someone looking for a unique place to explore the immediate area or expand out around the Bay Area. Because of our insurance policy, we are not allowed to have children there as we are directly on the water. The location provides you with easy access to San Francisco, Muir Woods, Mill Valley, Stinson Beach, Angel Island, Napa and Sonoma wine country, or the East Bay. Included are two adult size bicycles for cruising Sausalito or taking aboard the ferry to go to the city. We are close to bike paths and hiking trails as well as lots of excellent restaurants in the area. For those of you who would like to use public transportation, we are also walking distance from that. If you are there for business, we provide high speed wireless internet and a wireless Fax/scanner/copy machine in the guest room. For the nature lover, you will find yourself in a birder's paradise with herons, grebes, loons, sandpipers, kingfishers, plovers, coots, ducks, geese, egrets, pelicans and cormorants. With every tidal change your environment presents a new gift for your senses to relish.

On the entry level is maple flooring, two beautiful bedrooms and a custom bathroom with a gorgeous slate shower. The beds are extremely comfortable with memory foam mattresses and high quality linens on them. The master bedroom is on the water and has its own deck. On the second floor is a gourmet kitchen with everything the chef in you could possibly need. There is a coffee maker, coffee grinder, milk frother, toaster, blender, juicer, even a Sodastream machine for making bubbly water, as well as most any device or condiment you might want to prep with. The kitchen has an expandable teak dining table in it and opens to the living room with its cork floors and beautiful furnishings. There is a Samsung home entertainment system ready to show you any TV station, Netflix movies or play Pandora on its Bose speakers. On the deck is a gas barbecue ready to grill, roast, bake whatever is on the menu for dinner.

There are actually four levels to our floating home. A level up from the living area there is a deck with panoramic views to die for (but please don't)! And another floor is located beneath the entry level where you will find a full size washer and dryer and another toilet (the "men's room"!).

Outside is a veritable birders' paradise; herons, egrets, cormorants, pelicans, sandpipers, terns, gulls, Canada Geese, hundreds of species of ducks, and other migratory birds.

If you've looked at the price of hotels in our area, you know how pricey it is. Our wonderful floating home will provide you with a lot more for a whole lot less, including an experience you are guaranteed to never ever forget. It's truly a one-of-a kind Shangri-la.

Reminder: When you stay on a floating home, you are a guest in a close-knit community of fellow house boaters. You must be considerate of our neighbors and we take any complaints from them very seriously. It is a non-smoking property and is NOT suitable for family gatherings, children, or group gatherings that might disturb or disrupt the quiet environment of the neighboring properties in our marina. Consider it for a getaway. It is definitely NOT a party house and a maximum of four people may stay on it.

About Holly A.

My husband, a retired pilot, and I are both retired and divide our time between the Sierra Foothills, Sausalito and as much of the rest of the world as we can. Our floating home is our utopian getaway. We spent years of blood, sweat and tears making it what it is today, an amazing getaway. We feel blessed having the option of being in the mountains or on the water taking full advantage of all the bay area has to offer.

Holly A. purchased this house boat in 2005

Why Holly A. chose San Francisco Bay Area

I spent several years in this area when I was growing up so I've always had a special place in my heart for Marin County and Sausalito, especially the unique and eccentric lifestyle that you will find on the waterfront here. We are centrally located to get to all parts of Marin, or to the city, the East Bay or the Wine Country.

What makes this house boat unique

Just being in a floating home is a unique and unforgettable experience. It really is a world unto its own here! You have privacy and at the same time awesome views all around you. Everyone who has either stayed or just visited here raves about it.

Great getaway

  • 5 of 5

My wife and I stayed on the houseboat over a long weekend to celebrate our anniversary, and we're sure glad we did. Holly was very generous and kind, and great to work with -- and the houseboat itself was in great shape; well taken care of, and in a perfect setting off the beaten path. Sausalito does see its crazy amount of tourists, and my wife and I were shocked the first evening, while sitting on the porch, at how quiet it is! We were lucky and had great weather, albeit a little hot, but nothing a fan and open windows couldn't handle! We look forward to returning -- thanks again for everything!

Lovely Boat House

  • 5 of 5

Had a great stay at the Boathouse at Xmas time. Really loved it,very comfortable and cosy and the owners even left us a xmas tree.!! Close enough to downtown Saulsalito for all the restaurants and stores and great to cycle to Mill Valley. Lovely views and great to watch the boats coming in and out of the marina nearby. House boat was immaculate and very clean, really enjoyed our stay. We will be again soon.

An extraordinary vacation

  • 5 of 5

The photos of this houseboat are beautiful but did not do justice to the incredibly lovely home we found. It is perfect with exceptional furniture and decorations, great shower and complete kitchen. We loved the location, great scenery, fascinating wild life and panoramic sunset views. It far exceeded our expectations. Wonderful base location for trips to S.F., Tiburon, Wine Country and to explore Sausalito and local area. Owners were so gracious and helpful and provided everything needed for our comfort.

Just what I was looking for

  • 5 of 5

I come to the SF area every summer to visit family and the idea of staying on a houseboat in Sausalito appealed to me. After researching properties online and narrowing my search to 3-4 my sister graciously drove down to check out my choices before I booked.

It soon became clear that this houseboat had everything I was looking for. The owners are wonderful; they were in touch before and during my visit - just to make sure all was going well.

The house has been lovingly restored and living spaces are airy, with lots of natural light. All rooms are well furnished, comfortable and the kitchen is well appointed.

Sausalito is a vibrant community, with lots to do and see. Restaurants and a grocery store are a short stroll away and you can easily walk downtown to restaurants, shopping and the SF ferry terminal.

My 2 week stay was peaceful and relaxing in a way that only time on the water can be. I hope to stay here when I come to visit next summer!

Peaceful luxury on the bay

  • 5 of 5

Highly recommend this beautiful property. We spent a romantic get-a-way on this well appointed and peaceful houseboat. Could not have relaxed more but with the best food and entertainment just a walk or ferryboat ride away. The best of both worlds. We could have spent all day and night just staying on the houseboat with no reason to leave. We did take liesurely strolls, eat at fine restaurants in town and also visit some of our favorite places in San Francisco. Friday was jazz and wine in the park with Sausilito residents. We would go back in a heartbeat. The owners are gracious and made us feel welcome. A lovely note and treat awaited us on arrival and they had all of the information we needed conveniently available.

April Visit

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I loved our houseboat visit in Sausalito. The houseboat was everything we had hoped it would be and more. Location was great, kitchen was perfect, the houseboat was clean, comfortable and so relaxing! We had never stayed on a houseboat before but will again. The sunrises were beautiful, watching the birds and boaters made for total relaxation. We walked to local restaurants and made the easy hike into downtown. Next time we would love to bike on the nearby trail. Wandered around the houseboat communities too and appreciated the quiet location of this boat. Fascinating to see what people have for houseboats but loved this location. We will definitely make this our Sausalito place to stay!
