About Amy Griggs

Charley is an engineer/builder and Amy is a middle school teacher who both work full time in nearby Wake County. Creativity and craftsmanship are two things we like about remodeling. We always have a work in progress, and we love coming to Pinehurst.

Amy Griggs purchased this cottage in 2009

Why Amy Griggs chose Heartland

Cole House is so named because it is the family name of the original owners and only family before us to occupy this historic cottage. Four seasons a year, the Sandhills, and particularly Pinehurst, offer a garden-like setting, easy-living climate and an otherwise mysterious and inexplicable magnetism.

What makes this cottage unique

Charley recognized the good bones of this sturdy house and knew it'd be a great fixer-upper. It might be impossible to find another place in this price range that says 'no worries' like the Cole House does. Our goal was to have guests enter and feel like Cole House had been in their family forever -- timeless decor, simple comforts, and some of that mystery appeal. The location is convenient and yet feels "off the beaten path." Guests like having 4 bedrooms.

Super nice house and great location

  • 5 of 5

My family stayed here for 7 days for a golf tournament and the house was perfect along with the loacation being near the golf courses. It has old charm and the owners did a nice job with the newer basement/living area.

Owner's Response: Thank you for these details. Yes, the great room downstairs and the living room upstairs enhance the Pinehurst experience. We like hotels and lobbies, too, but we love our cottage!

Cole House was perfect!!!

  • 5 of 5

We had a fantastic stay at the Cole House...Amy was a very gracious host and the home was comfortable and very well equipped; we had 8 golfers and there was plenty of room and a perfect lay out. Amy had some snacks and a few beverages in the fridge for us which was a very nice touch after a long trip into the Sandhills...We have been coming to Pinehurst for over 7 years now and this by far has been our favorite home; we will for sure stay here again. The locations is ideal....

Thank you Amy for making our annual golf/basketball trip a great success!!!

All the best.... Mike Maccio

Owner's Response: So glad you liked it. The gal that cleans said y'all were thoughtful guests! We know the house isn't perfect but people seem to appreciate the ambience and the go-with-the-flow "imperfect" style. Really, it's hard to go wrong in the Sandhills. Hurry back!

Cozy home in a great location

  • 5 of 5

The Cole House was perfect for our group of six golfers! Amy and Charlie made us feel very welcome, providing snacks, beer and wine when we arrived.

It is in a great location: less than a 20 minute walk to the Village, and every time we got in the van to go anywhere GPS said we had eight minutes to our destination.

The house--really, more of a cottage--is charming and, with the finished basement, it has more room inside than looks possible from the outside. The basement provided a comfortable place to gather, watch TV, or play cards. I think if we had wanted to cook our dinners, it might have been a challenge: The night we arrived, we picked up a couple pizzas and heated them at Cole at a time. We cooked bacon and eggs each morning without any trouble and ate out for dinner, so, as I said at the beginning, Cole House was perfect for us!

Amy & Charlie, thanks for your hospitality!
