About Amy Griggs
Charley, an engineer/builder and Amy, a writer and former teacher, work and live in nearby Wake County. Creativity and craftsmanship are two things we like about remodeling; we always have a work in progress, and we love coming to Pinehurst.
Amy Griggs purchased this Cottage in 2009
Why Amy Griggs chose Pinehurst
Cole House is so named because it is the family name of the original owner/residents and only family before us to occupy this historic cottage. Four seasons a year, the Sandhills, and particularly Pinehurst, offer a garden-like setting, easy-living climate and an otherwise mysterious and inexplicable magnetism.
What makes this Cottage unique
Charley recognized the good bones of this sturdy house and knew it'd be a great fixer-upper. It might be impossible to find another place in this price range that says 'no worries' like Cole House does. Our goal was to have guests enter and feel like Cole House had been in their family forever -- timeless decor, simple comforts, and some of that mystery appeal. The location is convenient and yet feels "off the beaten path." Guests like having 4 bedrooms.

This place is just adorable and so comfortable!
This place is awesome. The pictures don't do it justice. It is super cozy and adorable and very spacious. We had an a great time and really enjoyed the front porch! Will absolutely stay again. Loved it.
We're so glad you liked it. We hear that the little front porch has been loved by many since 1926! Pinehurst typically has days of what we call "porch weather" in all four seasons. Hurry back!
We had eight golfers staying in the house. Everything was great. Thanks for the snacks and drinks. Looking forward to a return visit.
Glad you liked it. Eight guys staying a whole week must be a special group of friends! Hurry back.
Great quaint place to stay
The owner Amy was very welcoming to us, had left a welcome gift for our kids which was very nice. The place had the old North Carolina feel and was very well maintained. The kitchen was well stocked for us to cook breakfast and dinner on many days. The location was great and close to all the main golf courses. The only issue we ran into was that the bathroom doors did not work. A few of us in the party suffered from allergy issues and the house seemed to make it worse for us, but overall we would highly recommend this place.
Thanks for the feedback. We have plans to work on the doors.
Beautiful home close to all of the golf action Pinehurst has to offer
Beautiful home, with all the amenities necessary for two foursomes looking to stay right in the heart of Pinehurst. Less than a 10 minute drive to everything: the main clubhouse and other Pinehurst courses, Pinehurst/Southern Pines restaurants, groceries, etc. The extra full bath, ice machine, and gameroom in the basement were great bonuses for our group.
If we could recommend anything, it would be an additional small window AC unit in the 4th bedroom downstairs, or a small one in the downstairs gameroom. But we did visit on the hottest week of the year. The upstairs was super comfortable.
Look forward to visiting again soon, would recommend this home as a welcome spot for 6-8 golfers anytime.
You're right -- it's just not cool enough down there when it's hot as blazes outside. Please come back this fall! And thanks for citing all the good points.
Great Pinehurst house
This house was perfect for our foursome, convenient to everything in Pinehurst.
Thanks -- we think it's a good fit for foursomes, too!
Great, unique cottage
6 of us stayed here for a golf trip, and there was room for more! The place was in great shape and was perfect for our weekend getaway. Downtown is only a 15 minute walk, and it's about a 7 minute walk to a local tap house. I would definitely stay here again!
You all were thoughtful, tidy guests--glad you appreciate the proximity to pubs and village center and that you enjoyed your stay. Hurry back.
