Centro - Supmza. 001 House Rental Photos and Description

Experience the real Isla.

Guests at Casa Perlita have an all access pass to Isla. This single family home offers 2 large bedrooms – both with a king bed and balcony - 2 bathrooms – one master and one on the main floor, a rooftop seating area and plunge pool, an infinity plunge pool out front, and a full kitchen with glassware/pots and pans/kitchen utensils (no dishwasher though). There are flat screen tvs in both bedrooms and the living room. The home has great space and it offers 2 couples the right amount of privacy, but enough space to sleep 6 with the two additional couches in the living area.

Don't want to stay in the mega resorts on Playa Norte? Want to experience a vibrant and authentic island neighborhood? Want the true island experience? Come to Casa Perlita. It's located in Centro. Stunning ocean front (not a swimming beach) with direct private access to the Malecon. Guillermo the barracuda fisherman lives next door. Loncheria La Lomita is just down the street and the food is amazing. The Super Express grocery store is a quick walk from the house, and you can walk to the North Beach in 10 minutes - ok more like 15 if you stop to buy a few cold Sol along the way! Grab a drink, watch the golf carts cruise past, or the waves crash, your choice.

Casa Perlita has a rooftop patio area and plunge pool, so kick back and enjoy 360 degree views of the island with a margarita or two. We'll provide a great space for you to relax. Casa Perlita is a lovely place to get back to the basics.

As owners, we'll interact as little or as much as you'd like. Thinking about booking but have a few questions? Send an email or give us a call! We'll send you a million pictures if you'd like and be 100% honest with you, so you can truly be confident in your booking. Need something or have a question during your stay? Send an email, we're happy to help. We absolutely try our best to anticipate our guest's needs, but there are 7 billion people in the world and we may miss some. Please contact us during your stay to make something right. Just ask, we'll be happy to do our best to accommodate.

Want a home in a great neighborhood on an island in the Caribbean? Got it. Walking distance to Playa Norte and Hidalgo/downtown? Check. If you're doing things right you will see the same people over and over again during your stay. Stop, say hi, chat with them. They don't mind your broken Spanish if you don't mind their broken English. We believe traveling is about new experiences and meeting new people and Isla Mujeres is a great place for both.

Transportation-wise: Walk, rent a golf cart, take a cab (usually ~40-70 pesos). The island is not that big and you'll be able to get around pretty easily whichever way you choose. We recommend using CARM for airport transfers. They have local connections and are very responsive.

Other details about the home: We provide filtered water and plenty of bathroom towels for our guests. We have a guest book that has just about everything you need to know about the property. We have a cell phone in the home so you can make local calls. We have collapsible chairs for you to take to the beach. We also provide a portable Bluetooth speaker to use by the pool or bring up to the rooftop. The pool fountain is on from around 10:30am to 3pm and we have pool noodles for floating. The pool cleaner comes twice a week. The wifi at the house is generally up and working, but sometimes there is slow connection. In case the wifi is out, call Mundaca to let them know. Many restaurants on the island offer Wifi, so you're sure to find some place to connect. We have a mid-stay housekeeping visit to refresh the home during guests' stays of 8 nights or more.

The home is professionally managed by a great team at Mundaca to ensure our guests are taken care of and have a wealth of information. Booking a great vacation rental is such an important thing (I've done it on Isla so many times!) I truly want guests to have a wonderful vacation. I hope you'll choose Casa Perlita for your island getaway!

Guestbook comments from the manager

Casa Perlita is AWESOME! It's located on the North side of island where there is much to do such as restaurants (try Olivia's...went there twice!) and bars and the beach. I liked the food much better on North side than South side. South side has its perks with the quietness and vastness; although, Casa Perlita's view of the ocean gave us the same affect. Sun will not be exposed over pool area all day so it's nice to head to the beach if you want the sun or stay at home in the shade and listen to the waves. We had absolutely everything we needed at the home. Beds are also super comfortable and huge. Already planning a trip back! ”

Beautiful home

  • 5 of 5

We enjoyed staying at Casa Perlita. The location and views were perfect. The beds were very comfortable. The owner & management company were easy to communicate with. We loved the dipping pools with the amazing views. The only issues that we had were some harmless ants in the kitchen & the occasional sewer smell from the first floor bathroom shower. It seems like these minor issues may be common for most homes on Isla Mujeres.

This home is an easy walk to Playa Norte & Centro. You would only need a golf cart for the South end of the island & to get to the large grocery store.

I would rent this home again when I return to Isla Mujeres.

Owner's Response: Thank you so much for your complimentary words about Casa Perlita. It is in a great location. I'm sorry about the little tiny ants. We encountered those in several places that we stayed previous to purchasing Casa Perlita. We do fumigate on a regular basis and we also check plumbing but as you say, it seems to be a 'characteristic' of the island. We hope to see you again at Casa Perlita soon! Regards, KJ

A terrific holiday home

  • 5 of 5

We spent a wonderful week at the lovely Casa Perlita. We had excellent communication with Katie, the owner, before and after our stay-- she clearly cares about the property and about the satisfaction of those who stay there.

The setting was spectacular: we loved hearing the crashing waves, waking to the sunrise and lounging in the pool while enjoying the colours of the sea. The wind was wild when we were there, which meant we were always cool and there were no mosquitoes at all. We were on the island at a very busy time (~25,000 visitors arrived on Easter Saturday-- a record) so we appreciated being able to retreat to the quiet and calm of the house. We liked being a little away from the centre but still close to restaurants and other services. We also appreciated the privacy of the upper pool and deck, where a bamboo wall has been installed to screen the area from the new neighbour's rooftop (see listing 787784 for an updated view of the adjoining property).

We often think about the things we would change in a vacation rental while we are there: in this case, we would change very little. Case Perlita was thoughtfully laid out and equipped, beautifully decorated, and had everything we needed to enjoy our stay. It was clean, safe and very comfortable for the two of us. Like so many of the visitors that we met during our time on Isla Mujeres, we plan to return to the island as soon as possible. When we do, we hope to stay at Casa Perlita.

Lovely oceanfront home!

  • 5 of 5

We actually stayed here back in December 2014 and never got around to leaving a review. Not for any reason other than I forgot. After a recent experience on Isla at another rental home, I knew I needed to come back and talk about how great Casa Perlita is. It's super clean, with the modern amenities you like from home. Comfy bed, lots of towels, flat screen tv, and clean kitchen. We don't expect a lot and wouldn't consider ourselves high maintenance, but do expect a clean rental at the very least. Casa Perlita is just that. The ocean front view is incredible on top of everything. And down the street from La Lomita, one of our favorite restaurants, is a plus as well. The only thing lacking would be possibly providing a pool solar cover (http://www.amazon.com/Intex-Solar-Cover-Diameter-Frame/dp/B000PGOKJ6/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1459174788&sr=8-3&keywords=Solar+cover+pool.) That was the main reason we didn't rebook this time as we couldn't use the dipping pool because it didn't get enough sun to be somewhat warm. Not the owner's fault as we were there in a colder month. We would just book at a different time of year I think. Thanks for a great stay and sharing your Isla home!

Owner's Response: Megan, thank you so much for coming back to leave a review! Since your stay in 2014, we've made some great upgrades to the house, including new patio furniture and all new dishes. The house just keeps getting better and we're so happy to be able to share it with others. Please come back anytime, we'd love to have you! -KJ

Great Location

  • 4 of 5

If you want to be just one off from the hustle & bustle of Isla this is the place! There were 4 of us 2 couples. We all loved the location. The house itself is quite nice. No real problems. It is nice to have your own kitchen so you don't have to go out to eat for every meal. Stove worked well. Microwave was so quiet we had to keep checking to see if it was really on. Having the plunge pool right off the kitchen overlooking the ocean was amazing! We did not have to go to the beach everyday if we did not want to. In fact we only really went to the beach 3 times out of our 10 day stay. The rooftop pool is an added nice touch! I think only one of us used it though. We did enjoy sitting on the rooftop many days with cocktail in hand watching the goings on of the Island. First glitch, only for the couple who got the bedroom on the street...no bathroom in their room. They had to go downstairs & that bathroom was quite small & they never did figure out the hot water ( we did not try it) So they started to use the master bath shower. No worries for us. 2nd glitch.....The saloon type doors to the master bath toilet have to go, put up a curtain or something or nothing. The doors were so very annoying, you could not sneak in the middle of the night without them making noise, they would swing back like crazy, & don't even try to only open one door they were just to narrow. & I scraped my arm many times trying to keep the doors quiet. 3rd glitch, the safe is only in the 2nd bedroom, which was a little annoying. But we worked it out. The floors in the main area can get super slippery if you don't have the AC right or the doors open. We felt safe in the neighborhood, loved watching the people & the occasional golf cart on the Melacon. The Island itself is nice, with many options for things to do & places to eat. Rent a golf cart & enjoy. We liked the house & amenities very much & would return.

Owner's Response: Hola Kristi! Thanks so much for your kind words and your feedback! I wish that the original builder of the home had designed a bath off of the guest bedroom, but alas we weren't that lucky. I appreciate your suggestion to modify the doors in the bathroom and see what changes I can make. We'd love to have you stay at Casa Perlita again soon! - KJ

Piece of Paradise

  • 5 of 5

Hola!

I stayed at Casa Perlita over el dia de los muertos (Day of the Dead-Halloween) with my friend and another couple who have stayed at the house many times. The weather was fantastic and Casa Perlita has all the comforts of home but with the ocean in your backyard! Each bedroom conveniently contains a water jug for drinking and air conditioners to adjust the air for how you like to sleep. The house provides the MOST COMFORTABLE bed I have ever slept in. So comfortable that my friend looked at the mattress tag and upon returning home, bought the same bed -not even joking. The living room and kitchen area are spacious and provided a great area for our group to relax and have great conversations.

During the day, we spent a lot of time in the sun on a local beach sipping cold beverages but in the afternoons, we headed back to the house and slipped into the infinity pool. The infinity pool faces the ocean thereby providing beautiful scenery and is right above the malecón where people walk or run for exercise. I enjoyed saying “Buenos dias!” to everyone who walked by in the morning. Casa Perlita offers fantastic areas to see the sun rise and set. Even though you are on vacation, you should get out of bed early at least once to see the sun rise.

Everyone on the island is very friendly and, while you should touch up on your basic Spanish, most islanders spoke broken English, if not fluent. The food is phenomenal everywhere you go. It has now been 2 months since I have been on the island and I dream about the fresh guacamole, pico de gallo, seafood and one of my personal favorites – coconut pancakes. Even the little stands along the road provide the best Mexican food I have ever eaten. I am ruined from eating a churro anywhere else! During our stay, we also visited the turtle farm on the island. It was amazing to see the hundreds of baby turtles this little farm sets free each year. I highly recommend renting a golf cart and driving around the entire island during your stay, you won’t regret it.

Staying on Isla Mujeres and at Casa Perlita was the most relaxing state of mind I have ever been in. Truly, there are no words for how relaxed and happy I was here. I will definitely be returning to Casa Perlita and I’m very grateful my friends shared their piece of paradise with me.

Great house on a beautiful island

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I and our 11 and 14 year old daughters stayed at Casa Perlita for 6 nights right before Thanksgiving. The house was everything we hoped for and had read about - great location with easy walk to Centro and Playa Norte, well appointed, very comfortable beds and beautiful dipping pools. We will definitely return to Casa Perlita!
