Enjoy being in Chatham, walk to town, convenience & classic Cape Cod style!

About the property

You will love this beach house, extremely close to town, recreation & beaches

Truly, one of the most charming and convenient homes you'll find at this price range on the Cape! Quiet, private and extremely convenient to all amenities and Chatham is the best! Small town feel with all modern convenience. Central air. Beautiful setting. Private backyard. Just amazing!

Let's start with the location - you are a ten minute walk from town, with shops, restaurants, museums and entertainment. We walk to Chatham Bakery less than a mile away to get the family donuts and coffee every morning. Chatham Fish & Chips and another breakfast place is also a half mile away. Grab your bike and go anywhere in any direction and you'll have blast, no matter the time of year. Try the little airport which is right up the street on the bike path. You can watch the planes come in while you enjoy lunch or breakfast (and the best muffins and pancakes on the planet) at the airport diner, Hangar B Eatery.

Basketball, fields, tennis courts, and the bike path are literally across the street, at the town's middle school. Our home is also just minutes from the world famous Chatham Bars Inn, where any given night you can hang out on their deck and enjoy sunset and cocktails. Right next door to CBI is the fish pier, where you can not only pick up fresh fish for dinner but watch the local watermen deliver to the docks - as the seals float around catching scraps. It's so much fun!

The Lighthouse & Beach is the most stunning public beach in Chatham, and a must enjoy place no matter what time of year. Then there's Oyster Pond also within biking or walking and great for kids. Hardings Beach, ponds and water everywhere. You will be in heaven here!

A few minutes from Chatham in either direction are the other Cape towns that have great local flavor - Orleans, Harwich, Dennis.. the list goes on.

If you're going to stay home, you'll enjoy it just as much as being out. Our location - only a mile from the ocean - ensures a nice breeze you can enjoy on a very private deck, looking into a nice wooded area. Casa 'D'Estate - Italian for SummerHouse - has everything to make that vacation care-free, in any season. You are so close to town you won't get stuck in that main street traffic and biking and outdoor activity is right out the door.

When not traversing the Cape, you can enjoy a cozy family room, a well-stocked kitchen, and the access to a new conveniently located gas grill. Families will especially appreciate the private, fenced in yard. You can enjoy a lovely deck and patio, as well as hang out and read on the adirondack chairs and benches. On cool nights you can fire up the fire pit. Oh, and you'll love the outdoor shower!

The bedrooms are well-appointed, the bathrooms provide plenty of room and privacy, and linens are provided for a modest, additional fee, easing your travel burden.

The master bedroom is enormous, with a spacious king bed, and room to add a bed or crib if need be. The full bath and closets also make a vacation comfortable.

The second bedroom on the main floor has a full bed and dressers, decorated in boat themes. Across the hall is another full bath.

The den and kitchen and deck all are open to one another and make vacation living a dream. Downstairs in the lower level are two twins and a pull out couch. A half bath, washer, dryer and walk out exit make it possible for more than one family to share the house with privacy.

The kitchen is not like one of those typical vacation places with miss-matched dishes and so few needed utensils and bowls. You'll have everything you need to eat in, cook or entertain.

To sum -

Whether you are an avid walker, reader, exercise buff or beach bum, this location cannot be beat. In addition to Lighthouse and Oyster Pond Beaches, Hardings and numerous other beaches are within a few miles. Right up the road 10 minutes you'll find Orleans, another lovely town, where the award winning Nauset Beach is located, along with dozens more. Take a short ride the other way into Harwich for more fun - music, restaurants, beaches, shopping and local festivals are always happening. In the summer, there are band concerts nightly in these towns, lots of local and summer stock theatre, and access to amazing musical groups, from A'Cappella to Chamber group.

Boaters and people who love to fish will enjoy the Marinas close by, the accessibility and availability of the locals willing to go out with you and show you a unique slice of the Cape. We have seen seals up close and personal, caught dozens of fish in a day, found clams, (and enjoyed eating them!) and even seen some whales (check out the pictures) just a few miles from shore!

In fall, the Cranberry bogs start attracting attention and the annual Oyster Fest in Wellfleet brings activity all October to the Cape. WInter and Spring are equally beautiful, and provide calm and clarity.

The world is your oyster when you stay in this home away from home!

Why The Owner chose Chatham

We bought this property because it's charming, and you can't beat the location, or the town!

What makes this house unique

Location, location, location - water in every direction, whether you walk or ride or fish - it's all a stone's throw away. Not to mention the seafood market, the local grocery store and weekly farmer's market. You won't think about leaving the town once you get here until you have to - sadly -- go home!

Perfect house on the bike path!

  • 5 of 5

Stayed here for four wonderful nights with our two dogs and a few other couples. The quarters were a bit tight for the number of adults, but certainly suited our needs since we spent the whole time outside. The backyard is wonderful! Beautiful and large deck, fenced in, fire pit and my favorite outdoor shower!

The owners were responsive to our one concern about the house and were prompt to address it. I loved that we could walk out the front door and be on the bike path. Walking downtown was a bit far, but there was ample parking if you did drive. The Chatham Bakery was SO TASTY! I wish we had tried it day 1 instead of on the way out of town.

Would certainly recommend this house to anyone with dogs and kids. Really a great place to stay!

Very nice family accomodation

  • 5 of 5

We had a wonderful time staying at this home. The master suite was spacious, and the fenced in yard was great for kids to run around in. The outdoor seating areas were also nice. The home was clean and well equipped, and its proximity to beaches and downtown Chatham were great. Thanks a lot for a great getaway!

Very much like home. The fenced in yard was great for the dog. When we cooked In we did not worry

  • 5 of 5

About thing like olive oil, salt pepper.

Jam peanut butter. They even had coffee for the morning. If we used it we just replaced it. Plus. I loved the walk to the bakery with the dog. Great place and loved the outside setting. My only suggestion would be

To plant some hostas in the back yard that is a perennial. The back yard was a little barren, but the deck was nice. All in all great place.

Nice location and decently equipped house

  • 2 of 5

This house worked out for my husband and I and our adult kids and companions as far as the layout. That was the biggest positive along with the plus af a grill and functioning utdoor shower with spotty hot water. That being said, there were some things that made this home one we would not rebook. We were very happy to do an instant booking and have the ability to stay for 3 nights in prime season..big plus for us. Here are the things I didn't care for.

1-owner wasn't responsive once booking was confirmed and I had specific questions regarding linens and amenities.

2- no details provided regarding the key or accessing the house until the evening before we left- and needed to call VRBO for help

3- our master shower would not drain rendering it unusable until the last day. The owner disputed this and was very flip in his response to our text. When a plumber was scheduled- he did not show up. Next day he just came showed up even after we expressed not being comfortable with him just coming at any unspecified time. He just sat in the driveway until we gave up and let him in. We weren't alerted that he was coming! I did video the stagnant water since we were told via text by the owner, "there are other lovely showers, so it shouldn't be a problem – should it? " IT WAS!

4- The outdoor shower was a nice addition but very slippery from mold - wear flip flops.

5- after paying the cleaning fee for our stay we were required to strip all beds and leave the linens and towels in front of the washing machine which was in the lower level of the home. When we stripped the master bed we discovered on the backside of the quilt a rather large and disgusting bloodstain. My daughter's bed revealed an earwig.

6- The pillows in the home are rock hard and are in need of being replaced

7- there is black mold in the lower level sleeping area behind the washing machine. This level was rather musty and unclean

8- The overall appearance of the house on the outside absolutely screams – "rental" It looks uncared for and sloppy. In conclusion, the house was functional and the kitchen was nicely equipped. If you're looking for a very clean and well-kept Rental, my feeling is it did not live up to the description or photos.

Owner's Response: Thanks so much for taking the time to review our house. Because this review does not match our records, I'd like to take the time to respond. First, you were the couple that asked if your daughter could come hours earlier than normal check in. Most people would say no and we were glad to accommodate so she could shower. Second, VRBO sends you check in information allowing you to know when and how to check in. We don't share information about check in prior to the day before. Regarding linens, the VRBO details we have listed are clear - linens are provided. I'm sorry you were not able to navigate the hospitality section. Other issues, in order of your concerns - 3- You reported issues with the Master shower not draining properly. That was on a Sunday. We immediately called for plumbers - 3 in fact. One finally got back to us that night and said they could come the next day. They came at your request, but you changed your mind. We had already scheduled them and paid and it took all of 10 minutes to clean out. That's service. 4- Outdoor shower does not have mold. The floor is dried, treated wood. I can't imagine what you mean. I'm sorry. 5 - Most rentals require payment for linens. We add them as a courtesy. Stripping the beds helps keep the costs down. there are not of places where you can have access to what we have and still pay such a modest fee in a town like Chatham. As for the stained bedspread, it was not noticed before you arrived. We apologize. Must have happened with the previous tenant. We took it to the dry cleaner. 6 - Happy to look at the pillows. Thanks for the tip 7- Downstairs musty? Have never heard that. As for a mold behind the washer that must be new and we'll take care of it. Thanks for telling us. 8- The condition of the house has been widely praised and nurtured repeat renters. The House as others can see from the pictures is anything but sloppy. It's not brand new, nor is it unkept. It has had doors and floors replaced in the past 5 years, and is clean and pristine before and after rentals. It sounds like it's not your cup of tea and we're happy there are many other options for you in the future! You texted us several times that you could not find information we left when in fact it was always on the fridge and the same info about wifi etc is on VRBO under our listing. It's the same document you read that talked about removing linens, so that's how we know you read it. We wish you all the best, regardless!
