Owners born and raised by the sea. We are academic professionals. We own this house at the beach that is used as rental property and for family time at the beach.
HH purchased this House in 2010
Why HH chose Emerald Isle
We have been visiting, sailing and enjoying every coastal area and every town up and down the East Coast for the last 30 years. After all these adventures, Emerald Isle was by far the prettiest Island of the coast with its natural beauty, pristine beaches, warm shallow water, maritime forest with old curvy Live Oak tree's. There is fine dining, miles of bike paths, a wide beautiful Sound for boating and so much more. We love the calm and serenity that Emerald Isle offers, gets us away from the hustle and bustle of academia. Just a relaxing getaway spot.
What makes this House unique
Fresh seafood that we can get directly from local fisherman. Clean, warm, shallow Ocean water with expansive, pristine white sandy Beaches!!! Pure Nature at it's best! The Island runs East to West allowing views of both the sunrises and sunsets. Just walk to the beach off your private deck. Sit and relax on the deck and watch the gorgeous views and fantastic sunsets and sunrises. If you get tired of the beach, go to the sound, just across the street, or go play tennis at the tennis courts. Down the road, you can go to the movies, play mini-golf or check out some of the quaint shops. Take the kids to the aquarium at Pine Knoll Shores or go to one of the fabulous restaurants and eat some great seafood. So much to do and so little time to check it all out!

Probably go back to using a realtor
We enjoyed our stay but it's been nearly 2 weeks since we left and we still haven't received our $300 deposit back. We left the house as good or better than we found it. Not sure what the problem is but I'm not happy about this.
Very pleased with this beach front house and the accommodations.
It gave my friends and I the needed direct beach access. The beach is right outside your door. Walkway straight from your deck, to the white sandy beach. There is always a nice summer breeze that keeps you comfortable when having fun in the sun. We have beach umbrellas, boogie boards, noodles, pails and shovels to keep you busy if you want to be active. A Bocci set and/or a frisbie if you want to take it up a notch. Others like relaxing on the deck, sitting in the shade of the overhang and watching the pelicans fly by or see the dolphins hanging out. During turtle season, you may even see a loggerhead. Enjoy a fully stocked kitchen. We even have complimentary k-cups, Hot Chocolate and cider to get you by until you make your grocery run. Do you like to grill at the beach? We have a gas grill all ready for your world famous burgers. We have board games, card games and books to satisfy the kid in anybody. Pirate stories, lighthouse books, shells and more, Roku Tv throughout! I love the layout of the kitchen, dining and living room---it's very open concept so your guests always feel included in what's going on. Oceanfront living just doesn't get any better than this.
We loved our stay. The sunrises were beautiful, you could hear the water from the decks and even inside with the sliding glass window open. We bought crab from the local fish market; went fishing with Cap't Stacy, and spent a couple nights hoping to see a turtle nest hatch. (We did see a couple dug out by the pros who weren't strong enough to dig their way out, but weren't lucky enough to see a "boil" where the whole nest is hatching. Kitchen was well-stocked with all the pots and utensils we needed. All if all a great vacation.
A great house for a relaxing beach vacation
The house worked very well for our family during our stay. While it is s duplex, no one was next door so it's like your own private house! The overall positives were: very well stocked kitchen, soaps/tp/paper towels/essentials already there, comfortable beds, great views of beach from deck, nice layout, accommodating owner(supplied a high chair, looked brand new), the grill and propane were nice and it's a short walk over the dune to the beach (some houses it's a real trek). I use these reviews when selecting a house, so if it were me, I'd appreciate knowing some things to be aware of. Linens and towels were supplied (you pay extra) and they were lacking in quality and quantity. One dish towel, no bath mats, sheets very thin. We've rented linen packages before for about the same price, and these were not up to par. It's not a deal breaker, but for the money, I would have expected more. The deck needs some repair. Boards sticking up in a few places didn't make me comfortable walking in bare feet. I know the ocean takes its toll on stuff like that.
Would I rent again? Yes. For the money, it's a great value. And you are at the beach!! But I'd probably throw in my own towel...and maybe a sheet.
Spoiled being on the ocean!
The property was clean and roomy enough for 3 couples, a dog, and an infant. We loved the convenience of being on the beach, especially with a baby...didn't have to lug paraphernalia too far...umbrellas, tents, chairs, coolers, and etc.; and could leave it to go in for a break or lunch. It was wonderful to see the moon on and hear the waves, taking early morning and late night walks. Also, it was only a short, 2 block walk to the sound side, public acces to see the sunsets! The owner was very friendly and easy to work with and met us when we checked in to go over the property. The fancy TV was a little complicated, I would have needed written instructions if my sons hadn't been so tech savvy. Having 3 full bathrooms with that many people was nice. We loved the covered decks overlooking it all. It was very comfortable, with a great location; would rent again.
Great location, views, and space.
We enjoyed our winter visit to Emerald Isle and this spacious, comfy home. The ocean/sky views from upper and lower decks couldn't be nicer and the home is amply stocked with all linens and kitchen equipment. Beds seem to be new and good quality--great nights' sleep.
We had some techno-frustrations but the owner was helpful and responsive and we were able to get things functional pretty quickly.
