We grew up in this county and knew this is where we wanted to raise our daughter.
Alicia Hart purchased this estate in 2006
We built this custom home in 2006. We stumbled upon the property and once we engaged with the views overlooking the canyon, we fell in love and knew we wanted to take advantage of waking up and breathing in the fresh mountain air while gazing out at the incredible views
This Sutter Creek home is amazing! Not only is the property beautiful and private, the decor from the front door to the dining room table is just perfect for this setting. Our quick weekend getaway was made the best due to the way this home was set up. We woke up to deer on the front lawn, enjoyed breakfast on the front porch and even ate lunch on the huge back deck! There is no reason to leave this property, the perfect escape from life... Thank you so much, we will be back as much as possible!!
The house was the perfect size for our group of four couples. It is a beautiful setting among the trees, although a bit isolated. That was compounded by no cell phone reception and during our stay the WiFi was not working. So again, it felt kind of isolated. We were unable to figure out how to use the sound system to play music, and so instructions for that would be helpful. One of the bathroom showers was not available to use because the handle was broken off, so while we thought we had rented a house for everyone to have their own bathroom, that did not happen. The large upstairs bedroom, that was advertised as a second master suite did not have access to a closet. There was one in the room, but it was locked....so we had to share closets too. I would suggest that the owners use one of the downstairs closets for the personal items, so that each room does have a closet. The light over the kitchen sink was not working and the kitchen faucet has a major drip going on. We were unable to figure out how to adjust thermostat, and so the air was blowing the whole time we were there. I think you need to provide more instructions on how to use. The deadbolt at the backdoor was not operable, or at least we could not get it to work. Like some others said, the sheets did not fit some of the beds and so they were constantly coming off during the night. We did a fair amount of food prep while we were there and the cutting boards and serving bowls and platters were in short supply. These are all just notes to hopefully help the owners going forward and for the most part did not stop us from having a great time. We did thoroughly enjoy the house except for a few minor hiccups. This is definitely a great house for a large group, with lots of room for people to find their own space and quiet time.
The house was big and beautiful. The location was remote with trees and hills all around. We stayed for a week with 5 adults and 5 kids and never felt crowded. The kids (and the adults) really enjoyed the game room with air hockey and pool table. The Sutter Creek location was great. We traveled around and really took in the many attractions. The kitchen was well stocked with pans and dishes. The dining room had a really big table that seats 12. The master bed room was very large and gorgeous with a large Jacuzzi tub. Sitting on the patios in the morning and evenings was wonderful. If you want great pizza then go to Pizza Plus in Sutter creek it was the best pizza ever and good prices.
We reserved this home for the weekend of our daughter's wedding. Plenty of room for hair dresser and make-up for all the gals while the guys hung out in the lower level game room and porch. We had about 30 people over for the rehearsal dinner. Plenty of room for all. The gorgeous, extremely large, one of a kind dining table was very nice for those who wanted to sit inside.
The views are stunning. I woke up about 4am one morning and ending up standing at the huge bedroom windows gazing at the brilliance of stars over the the tree covered hillside.
We were so busy, I wish we had been able to stay one more night to enjoy a nice long soak in one of the large jacuzzi tubs.
Would love to go back.
This cabin is gorgeous and really does have amazing views from every window. The bar/game room downstairs was the highlight for our group; it felt like a real bar! The house was so spacious that our group joked that we should have played hide and seek on the first day, before we got to know our way around. It's HUGE. The five bathrooms were extremely welcome. The owner is very responsive to emails and promptly answered all questions.
Some tips/things to know when staying here (some are VERY minor but may still be helpful to know):
- Most of us had no cell phone service, just the wireless. The cabin itself is easy to find so the lack of, say, Google Maps on the phone wasn't that troublesome, but it's just something to keep in mind.
- There are windows in every bedroom and no curtains on any of them. Thus, when the sun came up at 6:30, it woke most of us up even if we had very late nights. Also, it's possible for someone using the master bathroom to be seen by somebody outside on the patio. Blackout curtains on some, if not all, of the bedrooms would be very helpful.
- The kitchen contents were hit or miss - for example, there were two very nice cheese graters, but no flat plastic spatula. There were knives, but some of them were very dull. The pans are stainless steel. Drinkware was great - lots of coffee cups, wine glasses, martini glasses, etc.
- The bedding/pillows were also hit or miss. The fitted sheet didn't fit my bed & kept coming off every night. The pillows are also very flat and squishy, so if you're as addicted to extra firm as I am, maybe bring one.
- The coffee maker does not have an auto shut off. Be careful not to leave it on like our group almost did.
- More cleaning supplies would be nice - even simple things like Clorox wipes, Swiffer, sponges, and something more heavy duty for scrubbing the aforementioned not-nonstick pans. We made do with what we had but felt bad we couldn't clean up a little better.
Again, aside from the lack of curtains, these are little more than nitpicks/things to know. Our stay was excellent and we would certainly consider staying here next year for our annual wine trip.
