Built in 1890 and bursting with character, including a real port hole in the upper bedroom, you'll feel at home in our comfortable and very clean home. We get a nice breeze from the river. We have central air conditioning(new in 2017), fans and river breezes. Every bed has a duvet cover and is washed fresh for each visitor. We now have two bathrooms and had the underground plumbing replaced in the winter of 2015. Wifi is provided but unfortunately we are at the mercy of comcast thus it is not 100 % guaranteed. A patio set and grill are also available to enjoy the outdoors.
We are located behind the saugatuck center for the arts and have a small river view. Once you arrive you can ditch the car and walk everywhere...easily. If you have a large group we have a second 1 bedroom cottage that sleeps 4 located on the same property.#726273

Bedroom 2-Queen bed
Bedroom 3-queen bed and a daybed
Bedroom 4-Queen bed

About kimberly Jacks
We currently live in Ann Arbor but always loved vacationing on the west side of Michigan. I'm a former engineer and finance manager that decided to toss in the towel on corporate world and open a yoga studio.. My husband is an engineer.
kimberly Jacks purchased this House in 2014
Why kimberly Jacks chose Saugatuck
The house wasn't loved for many years but it had an interesting history being owned by a maritime captain. We spent the first 4 months we owned it cleaning and bringing it back to life. Now we want to rent it a little and enjoy it a little.
What makes this House unique
It's a stones throw to the best of saugatuck and seriously spacious for a big group.
Nice Family Vacation
Nice location - walk to everything in town. Decorated nicely with an open layout with lot's of light and air movement. We used the outdoor deck for several meals. Our family of 7 fit just right.
Fantastic Saugatuck home
We had an amazing time at the cottage. Plenty of room, all the amenities we needed and close to all the things we love to do. Would definitely return!
Great location, plenty of space, would not stay here in the summer it is wayyyy too hot!
This house would be decent to rent any time but summer - without AC it was miserable.
The positives: the location is great for walking to town, and 3 of the 4 bedrooms were very good size and the bathrooms were nicely updated. Owners were reasonable responsive (sometimes took a day or so though).
The negatives: no AC was unbearable in the heat of summer (and I'm one who's usually freezing!). Fans were provided but it just wasn't possible to make it comfortable, and many of the windows were painted shut. Those that did open we were afraid to do so because we have small children - one of the kitchen windows slammed shut when no one was there, and they are all the perfect height for small fingers. Which brings me to my next negative, that this house would be fine for older children but not young ones. The stairs are very steep (as the advertisement says it's a very old house), and the railing at the top of the stairs was wide enough for my youngest to fit her whole body through. Also the bench seats at the table are very thin and easy to topple over. We were also looking forward to use of the outdoor area but it was not well maintained (stringy weeds everywhere), broken bottle in the driveway area and hornet nests in the back yard. The only place we could catch a breeze was the front porch steps, we couldn't even sit at the table in the back to eat.
I really wanted to rate this a 2, but any other time of year the location and space would make this a decent rental to consider. But we were disappointed with our experience.
House is in a great, convenient location for Saugutuck, also jumping off spot for Holland, S. Haven
Older home with nice character, great Saugatuck location.
Charming house/Great Location
We rented the Mariner's Cottage for a girls weekend and it worked out very well! The house is very conveniently located close to downtown Saugatuck which made it easy to walk to shops and restaurants. The home is very well decorated and the beds were comfy. The main bedrooms upstairs have ceiling fans and there is a brand new bathroom upstairs in addition to the main floor bathroom. We only used the kitchen for breakfast and happy hour, but it seemed to be well appointed. We would definitely rent this house again.
Wonderful house and great location.
The house was right in town. We walked to restaurants and shops. There was plenty of room for 7 of us. Would definitely rent this house again. Owner responded quickly to my questions.
