Beyond Our Expectations...
We spent the best summer we've had for years in this Tuscan villa in Encinitas. I should point out that the photos for this property don't do it justice; the property is as light and airy, as it is cosy and homely. The piece de resistance is walking from your front door, past the doors to your outside patio, through the expansive dining kitchen and straight out to a beautifully furnished, sizeable 'garden' which sits idyllically on the breath taking San Diego bluff - we were blown away when we saw it for the first time, we didn't want to leave two months later!
The owners have this property stocked fully. There is every appliance, crockery item and utensil in the kitchen. The layout of the open plan kitchen/dining/lounge is spacious and flows beautifully making for comfortable cooking/dining/relaxing/entertaining. The bedrooms are beautifully appointed and offer very user-friendly accommodation. In the garage you'll find boards of different sizes, beach chairs, bikes etc again, everything you could want is there.
In terms of the area, it is the perfect spot. You are a hop, skip and a jump away from the beach, the local strip has a brilliant range of shops and restaurants, there are a couple of hair and beauty salons etc Although the facilities are great, it still retains a really quaint feel to it. If you have a car, your access to a wider range of restaurants and shops is available within 10 minutes drive.
The owners are outstandingly helpful, they couldn't do enough for us when we were there, there were only a text or phone call away no matter the query we had. We have booked up for 2016 already, and we cannot wait to get back out there!
Best stay ever
My family and I were looking for a quiet retreat along the coast that still offered access to great food and entertainment. Not only was the location perfect (walking distance to the beach, Whole Foods and a nice strip of restaurants and shops), but the attention to detail in this home was amazing. We like to cook while on vacation, and the kitchen was fully stocked with high quality knives, a variety of of appliances, plentiful dishes, and all the pots and pans you'd ever need. The home offered high quality linens, comfortable beds, and a wonderful variety of seating. All this plus the most beautiful view in Encinitas! There were six of us so we appreciated the spaciousness of the property, and we never tired of the sunsets.
Joan was accessible and responsive to us during our entire stay, and we loved the home as our own! It's rare to find a property where your every want and need has been anticipated. Highly recommend. Just don't book when we want to :).
WORTH EVERY PENNY and then some...
I've been renting vacation properties for over 20 years all around the world. This property just took the GOLD MEDAL. We rented this property from mid January to the end of Feb. The property is so well done, so well maintained, and meticulously clean. (This is coming from a person who makes sure all her beverage labels are facing outward in the refrigerator. :) ) The view is over the top with amazing sunsets, spouting whales, pelicans, sea lions, dolphins, and surfers. Location could not better, as you can walk to restaurants, bars, and Whole Foods. Outdoor shower keeps the mess of surfers out of the house. The outdoor courtyard at first is confusing... "who would sit there when you have an ocean view?" But after one night you get it. It gives the house an amazing indoor outdoor feel. The sliding doors are GORGEOUS! The master bedroom bed is uber comfortable, and there is plenty of closet space. And the view will blow your mind. The master bath had the nice added touch of bathrobes, hair dryers, hand soap, plenty of towels, etc. It's a pleasure to cook in the kitchen as the house's open floor plan is set up to entertain. The furnishing are very comfortable and of very high quality (a rarity in rentals.) The fire pit was easy to use, and a nightly gathering place for sunset. The house has Sonos! YEAH! What a treat to be able to play our own music. The speakers throughout the whole house and outdoor patio are amazing! I have rented three other properties in this area, included a house right on the beach in Del Mar. Being on the bluff gives you a better view, less mess from people constantly dragging sand into your home, less wind and less noise (that ocean is LOUD!) Joan was a super helpful and super easy host...always available, extremely pleasant, never intrusive and made sure we had coffee for our first mornings there. After a long day of travel, that was just a nice added touch! She is just such a likable person that you are happy SHE is the owner of one of the best pieces of real estate in America :)
For newbies to the Encinitas area, shop for groceries at Seaside Market in Cardiff where meat eaters must try the "cardiff crack." Maurizio's (walking distance from the villa on main street in Encintas) is delicious higher end Italian food with a character of a host! Other favs: Moonlight, Biergarten (Encinitas); Waters for lunch (Solana Beach); happy hour/sunset pizza at Il Fornaio (Del Mar); Jake's and Sbicca (Del Mar); PCG (Cardiff)
THE BEST OF THE BEST
I have never written a review of a rental property before, but the Rubins’ Encinitas property is so astonishingly beautiful that I cannot remain silent.
My wife and I have rented homes and stayed in hotels all over the world. We know the difference between good and bad . . . and, more to the point, the difference between the spectacular and the merely good. We were privileged (and I use the word advisedly) to stay recently at the Rubins’ Encinitas property.
Everything about our stay there was first rate: the location, the view, the furnishings and amenities (both outdoor and indoor), and the weather. The experience was truly memorable. The only disappointment was the fact that we had to depart.
Personal touch: The Rubins’ warm (but not overbearing) welcome was indicative of our entire stay in Encinitas. We felt at home there, like part of the family. Without being the least bit intrusive, the Rubins were always available to answer questions, to give us directions, and to recommend restaurants and places to visit.
Location: Located in a quiet, understated residential neighborhood, the property is on a bluff overlooking the Pacific Ocean and the Encinitas beach. The bluff offers a number of advantages, including a fabulous view and (unlike a house located directly on the beach) complete privacy and quiet. The steps to the beach are only about half a block away. The “downtown section” (I use the term loosely) of Encinitas is only three blocks away, so that we never needed a car to walk to any of Encinitas’s hip restaurants.
View: Regardless of whether you are inside or outside of the property, the view of the Pacific – and the gorgeous evening sunsets – is not to be believed.
Spacious interior: Four of us stayed there. We never felt as though we were in each other’s way. I would think that a party of six or eight would have ample room as well.
Décor and Furnishings: The décor and furnishings are elegant and comfortable. I would call it “casual chic.” Every piece of furniture fits comfortably in the house. We never felt as though we were staying in a museum.
Patio: The living room flows onto an expansive patio overlooking the Pacific and populated with comfortable chaises, sturdy (but movable) umbrellas, a dining table for eight, and a game table.
Amenities: We never lacked for anything. The property has a well-appointed kitchen, a gas grill on the patio, internet access, and televisions in every room (or at least it seemed so).
Additional information about rental rates
The city of Encinitas requires an occupancy tax of 10% to be added on to the weekly rental price. Monthly rentals are exempt from the 10% occupancy tax and will be adjusted after initial quote. There is an additional charge of $50.00 per person per night for more than eight guests. Maximum of 8 guests.
