Why Emmanuel chose Boston

It is less than a hotel and it offers more: parking, fully equipped kitchen, large living space, and a washer and dryer as well as a yard.

Visit Green Spaces: Jamaica Plain, often referred to in the 19th century as 'the Eden of America,' is one of the greenest neighborhoods in the city of Boston. The community contains or is bordered by a number of jewels of the Emerald Necklace park, Olmsted Park, Leverett Pond, Willow Pond, and Ward's Pond... Jamaica Pond has 60 acres (240,000 m2) of surface area and is the largest and deepest body of fresh water in Boston... Arnold Arboretum is a 265-acre (1.1 km2) world-renowned plant collection maintained by Harvard University, and contains Peter's Hill, the highest elevation in Jamaica Plain at 235 feet (72 m)... Franklin Park is a 527-acre (2.1 km2) park (the largest in the city) and holds the Franklin Park Zoo.

Public transportation: Bus service continues along Centre Street, and South Street to its terminus at the Forest Hills Station. The Orange Line rapid transit train line runs below street level through the middle of Jamaica Plain, with stops at Green Street, and Forest Hills. Buses connect Jamaica Plain with West Roxbury, Hyde Park, and suburban Dedham and Walpole to the south, and the rest of Boston by street routes. Forest Hills Station is a major transportation hub and is within walking distance of the Arnold Arboretum and Forest Hills Cemetery.

The house was nice and in a beautiful neighborhood . The house needs some furniture upgrades.

  • 4 of 5

Overall it was good. The house needs different furniture in living room as the sectional does not fit the room well.

The beds also need replaced as they are not comfortable.

Owner's Response: Thank you very much for your feedback, I am glad it went well, the half moon couch in the living room is very unique and can sit many people, I wish the living room had a round shape to match the couch but the living room is spacious so space is not a problem, I will ask other guests to assess if it should be changed. As for the beds, they're all firm mattresses to please the maximum number of guests, I'm sorry it did not feel comfortable, I will have them checked to see if they need to be replaced.

Nice but not what was expected

  • 4 of 5

After arriving we notice a half eaten piece of drench bread on living room table and dried crusty food spilled on sofa. Several light bulbs were broken or burnt out. The one bedroom had lots of long black hairs all over the fitted sheet and looked rather uninviting. After my mother flipped out Emanuel calmly came down and explained that the family before was very messy and he'd been spending the afternoon trying to get the house cleaned up and ready. The dishwasher was not working right due to the previous renters using far too much soap. No wash clothes only bath towels. The house in general was clean. Floors were emaculate and after our initial issues we got quite comfortable and appreciated Emanuel fixing everything that was unpleasant. Great little shops in walking distance. Harvard Arboretum is also walking distance and very pretty if you like nature and a nice walk. $15 uber ride to downtown Boston. Overall a nice little place.

Owner's Response: Thank you for your feedback, first, the small piece of bread was underneath the coffee table (not  easily visible) and not on top of the table. I took care of it right away. The small crust of bread on the sofa was missed and I apologized and fixed it right away. Only 2 light bulbs were burnt out on 2 table lamps in the living room and I replaced them right away; unfortunately, the guests who checked out earlier in the day left the house in bad shape. For the fitted sheet, I replaced it and even offered to show the dirty sheets as proof that the sheets were changed. The guest was with 3 other family members and one of them seemed upset as if she was inspecting the place and looking for excuses to complain, she later calmed down and apologized.

Jamaica Plain House

  • 5 of 5

Perfect place to stay for my family visit in Jamaica Plain. Very nice, well maintained place and it was about a $10-15 uber to the Back Bay where we went out both nights we were in town. I've already recommended this place to other family friends in the area.

Tasteful accomodation

  • 5 of 5

We loved staying in this immaculately renovated house. The spacious backyard even had an apple tree. We encountered two problems. The first was finding our way to the house. It is set back on a peaceful one way street ( May.). which is accessible from Pond, a second right hand turn off one of two Rotaries on Arbor way, an extremely busy. However once one has learned to navigate this there is a charming business district with a Whole Foods Market and interesting shops. Our second problem occurred with a slow drain in the kitchen sink, however Emmanuelle came swiftly and tried to repair the problem.

Owner's Response: Thank you for your feedback, I am sorry you had a hard time finding the house at your arrival. I usually give extra directions the day before. For the sink in the kitchen, it was due to someone using the garbage disposal improperly. I was able to get it fixed the next day, thank you for your patience, I am glad you enjoyed your stay..

Fantatic location which met all of our Boston needs

  • 5 of 5

My daughter, son and I stayed here for 5 weeks while my son attended the Berklee College of Music summer program. It was a perfect location for us. My daughter and I found it to be a great home base for exploring Boston on foot, bus and subway and we loved having the Arboritum and Jamaica Pond so close by and convenient. My son found it easy and safe to get to and from the college by himself even after late night rehearsals. It is on a busy road but that did not bother us in the slightest. We found the selection of restaurants and shops on Centre Street to be fantastic and we did not get in our car at all except to drive to Maine and New Hampshire to visit friends. I think people who like doing a lot of walking would love this place as it is very centrally located. You are in the city but do not feel too urban. People who do not like to walk as much would be fine with this place too since it has lots of parking and, once you figure out the one way system, is easy to get in and out of. One piece of advice is that the GPS has trouble finding it and we had to put in an address on the street that leads up to the house. The owner is very nice and helpful and I would stay here again in a heart beat.
