About the property

Large 5 Bedroom Victorian, With A Third Floor "hideaway."

Perfect for a large family gathering! This historic 5 bedroom, 2 bath Victorian has a bonus third floor that the kids can make into their hideaway during the course of your stay. The third floor is perfect for kids to nap, play games, etc...

The kitchen and dining area are open-concept, with a double oven, 6 range gas burner, and plenty of counter space to enjoy family-style cooking! The dining room seats 8-10 with ease, and an additional 5 can eat with the family at the kitchen counter on bar stools. (See photos.)

The dining area opens to a wonderful, 550 square foot patio with a built-in fire pit. There is plenty of seating outside on the patio for the family to gather, mingle, and grill, while enjoying the fire! On either side of the house there is a large yard for the kids to play. The home sits on a double lot on a very lightly traveled corner.

There are two bedrooms downstairs, one is very large and one is smaller. Both have a queen bed. The large bedroom has a fireplace and two built-ins.

There are two full bathrooms, one down and one up. Both are very nice and large. The upper bathroom has a shower and a whirlpool tub.

The living room is large and has two full-size couches, a love-seat, and a large round chair that seats two people. It has a 47' brand new 1080p smart tv.

There are three bedrooms up. All are large. One has a king bed and a twin bed. One has two double beds. One has a queen and a twin.

On the finished third floor, there are four twin beds, a table and four chairs, about 6 bean bag chairs, some games and puzzles, and a TV with a play station 3.

All told, 14 can sleep in beds in the five bedrooms in beds. There is "bonus" space that can sleep an additional 2 adults, and an additional 2 to 4 children.

This is a lovely home where family can gather and enjoy a wonderful week in South Haven! If you enjoy family cooking, dining, and enjoying time outdoors on the patio, this home is for you!

It is a 7 bedroom, 3 full bath, with the option to rent the "outbuilding," which is an open-concept, multi-purpose game room/living space with a full bath that is perfect for rinsing off after the beach, watching movies, or hanging out at the custom-built bar after the kids go to bed.

About John J. Frost

I live in South Haven approximately one block from this home. You'll see me riding my bike and walking in the neighborhood with my kiddos during your stay! I have even been persuaded by certain groups to stop in for a refreshing beverage, if I happen to ride by while they're out on the patio enjoying the fire pit!

John J. Frost purchased this house in 2014

Why John J. Frost chose Southwest

It's beautiful, the yard is wonderful, it's plenty big to host large groups, the neighborhood is quiet and peaceful, and the location is great--only about 3 blocks to town and about 6 to the beach!

Perfect location, great kitchen

  • 3 of 5

This house is in a great location, nice walk to downtown South Haven. We had people in our party with knee issues and one 85 yo so we also did some driving and parking (we always found parking). What makes this house great is the kitchen. It is very large, updated and could accommodate many people working in it with plenty of space. Two bathrooms with 17 people was a challenge, but we managed. Very helpful to have the toilets separate. One toilet had a broken chain, so our "handy man" of the group fixed it. It could use some mirrors in the bedrooms and hooks to hang towels. Also, we had some ants to deal with-but that can happen anywhere. The kitchen table was perfect for eating or playing cards with a large group. The third floor (it had 6 twin beds) was too creepy for our little kids and even our adult "kids" only spent one night up there. Several bedrooms were big enough to accommodate air-mattresses (which we brought). Great fire pit and a good amount of outdoor chairs. Charcoal grill, although the owner had told me gas. The house itself looks like a "work-in-progress" and is definitely not perfectly rehabbed, but it suited our multi-generational group very well for a 3 day weekend.

We had a good time.

  • 4 of 5

We were very pleased with location and things to do in the area. The house still needs some remodeling. Especially the outside. We enjoyed the large yard, and set up net for badminton, volleyball and a corn hole game. The beach was within walking distance, but too far if having to carry chairs, towels, blankets, etc. The bathrooms could have been a little cleaner, especially the floors around sinks and the laundry machines. Otherwise enjoyed the Victorian atmosphere of the home.

Beautiful Home

  • 5 of 5

Our family and friends met in South Haven this August for a special get-together and this was the perfect place to do it! The home is beautiful...large, open, clean. We had adults, teenagers, children and it's also pet friendly. There is surround-sound music inside and outside, which was very nice for everyone. The various size bedrooms and layouts were perfect for our stay. The kitchen was huge and everyone was able to gather around while cooking and enjoying meals together. The restrooms were large and some enjoyed the whirlpool tub. The fire pit outside was perfect for our cookouts - so relaxing. We brought bikes so everyone could either walk or ride to town and the lake within minutes. John, the owner, was very professional and friendly, and answered all our questions. This was a fantastic place to stay for our South Haven vacation. Thank you!
