This extraordinary property features beautiful views of the Puget Sound, Olympic Mountains, and Narrows Bridge. The nearly 1/2 acre lot sits very close to Chambers Bay (and it's world famous golf course), University of Puget Sound, downtown Tacoma, nightlife on 6th Ave. Titlow beach and water park, Tacoma Children's Museum, Emerald Queen Casino, and an easy drive to Joint Base Lewis/McChord and Wild Waves water park. The entire property has been thoroughly and recently updated with modern amenities while maintaining old world charm.

The property is an entertainer's dream! Hot tub, pickleball and basketball court, horseshoes, corn hole, volleyball, in ground fire pit, huge dog kennel, stamped concrete patio and cobblestone walkways with plenty of dedicated driveway parking, and you can bring your RV! We offer RV PARKING, with full hook ups for the RV including water, sewer, electrical, and wifi for just $25 per day. Your rental includes very fast wireless internet (40 mbps), cable, streaming video services, kitchen utensils, bedding, and basic toiletries. Please bring your own soap and shampoo.

Outdoor furniture includes two patio sets with tables and chairs, four Adirondack chairs, two benches, and roughly ten standalone outdoor chairs.

THE MAIN HOME (SLEEPS 7): The main home living room features oversized recliner couches, gas fireplace, flatscreen tv, cable TV, Playstation 4, and fully functional bar. The home features keyless entry, is child friendly, has a fully equipped office (bring your own computer and printer), and a heat pump that provides both heat and air conditioning. We also offer optional daily maid service!

Upstairs in the main home are two bedrooms and one full bath, and on the main floor is a bedroom/office and another bathroom (including shower). Each room has multiple beds to accommodate multiple people if so desired. For a breakdown of beds available in each room, please see the amenities section of this listing.

BASEMENT APARTMENT (SLEEPS 8): The basement of the main home is a high-class, self-contained, 1 bedroom apartment with full kitchen, bathroom with shower, laundry, large living space, and a separate entrance. It is a great addition for larger parties or those wanting more space, and is attached to the main home, which makes for easy access while still retaining privacy. The basement is roughly 4x as large as the RV mentioned below, and sleeps eight people on three full beds and two twins.

OPTIONAL RV RENTAL (SLEEPS 6): The optional 2016 Keystone Passport Bunkhouse RV is a beautiful home located on the property and available for rental. The RV has full hookups (water, sewer, and power), which power a full kitchen and 3/4 bathroom with shower. Like the guest room, it features full streaming services, internet, and the following beds: 1 queen bed, 2 full beds, and 4 twin beds, sleeping up to 10 people. -Caretaker lives in a detached unit at the back of the property in case of emergency or to assist with anything, but otherwise keeps to herself.

We came to Tacoma for a gymnastics meet and had 6 families (19 people total). First of all, the House, RV, and cabin was not ready when we got there at 5pm. Check in is at 4:00. There was not enough actual bedrooms to accommodate the adults in the group. The basement apartment had one bedroom with one small window (not a legal egress window). The other sleeping space downstiars was a living room with 2 Foutons and no window. Fortunately we had no house fires to escape from! We rented the cabin along with everything else and that was supposedly no longer available for rent and not ready till 8pm. We also would have loved to sit in the hot tub during our stay but it wasn’t even warm. Thankfully, we have very understanding group of people and we made the most of it and had a blast.

Owner's Response: After years of rave reviews and great experiences with renters, Jami came to town. She spent her entire stay looking for ways to get money back, and her complaints made clear she hadn’t read the listing and didn’t care to. The whole reservation felt like a scam to stay somewhere nice for as little money as possible, and it’s renters like this that will force conscientious homeowners to stop opening their homes to strangers. I’ll respond quickly to the complaints in her review and hope potential renters will see through her antics. -if there were not enough bedrooms for her party, then she should not have booked the home.. -The basement window is legal for egress. The whole window comes out. -The room with futons is not included in the bedroom count. - The hot tub gets warmer with the push of a button. I asked frequently if there was anything I could do to make her or comfortable, she said nothing. All she had to do was ask. -The home was ready when she checked in. The cabin was not, because we no longer rent it. Nonetheless we cleaned it and made it available for free the same night to accommodate her. I’m glad Jami and her party enjoyed their time here. I sure didn’t. Some people you just can’t please.

Wonderful, adaptable spread with responsive owner

We spent a fun, relaxing week with our family, totaling 8 adults from 3 different states. We rented the upper and lower portions of the house over Christmas week. The owner, Philip, had placed a lighted Christmas tree and decor to add to the festivities, and made himself available via phone or emails as often as needed.

The downstairs could be rented separately, with a full kitchen, but would be snug for more than a few (2-4) folks, and best to not be over 6 ft plus tall as the ceilings were lowish (downstairs only). Beds were comfortable, both kitchens well-equipped, and the 3 bathrooms small but well appointed. The back yard had a roofed porch, hot tub, fire pit (we never used) and a court. There was plenty of parking. An RV was also available for rent on the property.

The house was in a nice, quiet, walkable neighborhood in University Place, and a short drive to gas and groceries (Whole Food, Safeway, Trader Joe’s...), good restaurants (Boathouse 19), downtown Tacoma and the beach or hiking. The view from the house was wonderful! We picked the location as it was close to our son’s post/home at Joint Base Lewis-McCord. Seattle was about a 40 minute drive (If I-5 was moving) and SeaTac airport about 30 min.

We would definitely rent again if our son stays put at Lewis-McCord!

A wonderful property with an exceptional host!

My huge family had an amazing time at this property! Philip was beyond helpful and the house was the perfect size to accommodate our party. Everything we needed was provided, plus some thoughtful extras. The house is much more spacious than it appears in photos. I would highly recommend booking this property for any event and hope to stay there again in the future. Thank you so much to Philip for a truly magical experience!

Set up for a good time!

The property was delightful, conveniently located near a ton of things to do. Easy drive from Seatac, close to the bay. The house is big enough for the 6 of us that stayed there, with big front room and dinning area. Check it out, don't forget to read the notes on the bedding situation, there is plenty of room if you add the basement.

Beautiful Property, Great Location

We had a large group stay at Philip's property this past weekend for our wedding and had a very nice time overall! Philip is lovely to work with and responsive, and genuinely wanted us to have a good stay. There are a few things that need to be addressed. There were signs all around the home offering $50 off our rental if we left a 5 star review - we found this odd and it made us question the other reviews. Be advised that the inside of the home is much smaller than it appears in photos but it worked for our needs. The hot tub was a great addition and enjoyed by all, but was cold the last evening even though the cover had been secured every night. The glassware in the cabinet is heavily scratched and needs replacing. The bunk bed in the upstairs bedroom is very wobbly and two of our ladies mentioned that it didn't feel very secure. Finally, although it was fixed during our stay, the biggest issue was on the second evening at 3am when the head of the bed in the master bedroom collapsed. My new husband and I frantically tried our best to find somewhere else to sleep. The reason we are not taking off a second star is because Philip was so quick to respond and came out with the contractor to fix the problem the following morning. We really appreciated the kindness and urgency shown in taking care of it. We definitely do recommend staying here because overall the property and owners are wonderful! As much as we'd love to write a 5 star review and get $50 back, we just felt that it would be incredibly dishonest of us to do so.

I’ll get the glassware changed and bunk bed secured right away, and wish I had known about the hot tub duing your stay - sometimes when changing the temp, people change the heat setting to “economy” which is what I suspect happened here. And while we offer $50 for referrals, we don’t offer $50 for reviews, because, as you suggest, the only good review is an honest one. Thank you for staying!!
