We rest in the heart of exciting, beautiful Southwest Montana that includes the historic mining towns of Philipsburg, Anaconda & Butte, Yellowstone National Park, Glacier National Park, Georgetown Lake, Silver Lake, the Bitterroot Valley and Flathead Lake. Area activities abound all year long. Winter sports include skiing, kite-boarding, ice fishing, cross country skiing, snowmobiling and more. Summer fun includes fishing (both lake & stream fishing), boating, horseback riding, hiking and golf to name a few. There are 3 golf courses within a forty five minute drive, including Old Works Golf Club, a Troon built course designed by Jack Nicklaus, in Anaconda. Whatever you fancy, it's just a short drive away!
Georgetown Lake is a popular recreation area for boating, fishing, camping, kiteboarding and windsurfing. It is a large, 3,000 acre, high mountain lake above 6,000 feet. The lake is surrounded by the Flint Creek Range to the north and the Pintlers to the south. At Georgetown Lake, Kokanee salmon is the most sought after species, followed by rainbow trout. In winter, Georgetown Lake is used for ice fishing, kite-boarding and snowmobiling. Easily accessible from Montana Highway 1, the Pintler Veterans Memorial Scenic Highway, Georgetown Lake is located approximately 18 miles west of Anaconda and 15 miles south of Philipsburg, Montana.
Georgetown Lake has four public boat ramps, public rest rooms and easy access for swimming, fishing and playing. Camping is available around the Lake at a number of National Forest campgrounds. Access to lodging, restaurants, casinos and a beautiful marina make Georgetown Lake the perfect Summer, Fall, Winter & Spring playground for everyone.
Georgetown Lake is a mid-sized lake in the southwestern area of Montana. The lake features plentiful snow and nice hills on the north shoreline. The wind is usually side shore, coming up by 11AM and lasting till dark. The lake plays host to many kite-boarding events and welcomes anyone wanting to catch some air.
Georgetown Lake is one of Montana’s premier blue ribbon fisheries offering nearly year round angling for trophy rainbow and brook trout and Kokanee salmon. With an average depth of 16 feet, the lake is relatively shallow and much of the lake bottom is weedy. Whether you are fishing, sailing, jet skiing or boating, the lake is beautifully clear and clean. Fabulous any time of year.
St. Timothy's Memorial Chapel is an ecumenical ministry above Georgetown Lake. The Chapel is open for 12 Sundays each Summer. The magical views provide a wonderful venue for weddings. St. Timothy's also is the site of a Summer Music Festival.

The Flint Creek Valley abounds with summer activities for family and friends to enjoy. Whether you prefer hiking or biking over the old trails and roads through beautiful mountains and historic ghost towns, screening for sapphires indoors or outdoors, scenic driving tours, strolling along in historic downtown, fishing blue ribbon trout creeks and lakes or hunting the mountains, Granite County is the place to explore. Fascinating sites, interesting rock formations, and wonderful views meet the eye everywhere you go.
In addition to special events planned for most weekends of the summer, summertime offers all visitors the chance to relax and enjoy themselves. We invite everyone to visit the Granite County Museum, peruse the shops in Philipsburg or Anaconda to pick up that special gift or necessity, screen (mine) for sapphires, enjoy live theater productions at the Opera House Theater or movies in the historic Washoe Theater, concerts at St.Timothy's Memorial Chapel high above Georgetown Lake, and follow Philipsburg's Historic Walking Tour through the Philipsburg Historic District.
Whether for breakfast, lunch or dinner, local eateries fill, quench and refresh travelers with fresh-brewed beer from the microbrewery and tavern fare, BBQ, breakfast , burgers, hot dogs, sandwiches, old world-style pizza, steaks, and seafood. To top off all the great food, ice cream from an old-fashioned soda fountain and chocolates from the “World’s Greatest Candy Store” can fix any sweet tooth.
Stay awhile in comfortable rooms and suites at hotels, motels, bed and breakfasts, vacation house rentals, mountain cabin rentals, or a resort. For those seeking the fresh air of the great outdoors, RV parks and campgrounds surround Philipsburg, Maxville, and Drummond.
Philipsburg is right at the middle of the Pintler Veterans Memorial Scenic Highway - Montana Highway 1. Sightseers exiting off Interstate 90 in Drummond first enjoy the rolling ranch country near Hall and later, the creek side, canyon drive through historic Maxville, over Willow and Boulder Creeks. Closer to Philipsburg, the Flint Creek Valley opens wide, framed with majestic views of the high alpine Anaconda-Pintler Wilderness, soft ridges of the John Long Mountains, and Flint Creek. Further south of Philipsburg, the two-lane highway climbs Flint Creek Pass flanked by three billion year old exposed rock walls topping out at Georgetown and Silver Lakes. Following a fabulous lakeside drive framed by the magnificent Pintler Mountain Range, the scenic drive descends through beautiful mountains (watch out for the Bighorn sheep) to Anaconda and then Interstate 90 once again.
Literally hundreds of miles of roads and trails crisscross Granite County. Old mining and logging roads make for a four-wheeler and ATV paradise. Mountain tracks traverse past multiple ghost towns and historic mining claims spread throughout the region. Turn your wheels immediately east of ‘The Burg’ to take the Philipsburg Mining District Tour. Behold stunning vistas, hillsides and meadows just made for wildlife viewing, and high elevation lakes and streams brimming with trout. When four-wheeling, riding ATVs, hiking or biking, please always stay on established roads and trails. Respect both private and public property as well as the abundant wildlife in the area―bears, mountain lions, moose, elk, Bighorn sheep, and more.
Year Purchased: 2010
About: We retired to Forest Edge Inn back in 2010 to enjoy a relaxed, slower way of life. Quilting, cooking, woodworking, and welcoming our guests brought us such great pleasure. Hosting the Red Hat Ladies for the monthly meetings brought so much laughter and joy to our home that we began catering weddings. Giving joy to those about to embark on the most important event of their life made all the work worth it. The Honeymoon Suite set them on their way! Participating in the local craft co-op gave us the chance to sell our beautiful wood-turned, inlaid bowls in the Philipsburg retail location. That was fun too. We helped out in the shop once a week and got to meet lots of wonderful people. We loved sharing our home with others. We just loved the area and the surrounding communities.
Why Anaconda, MT, USA:
Our property began as a bed & breakfast in the most beautiful setting we could find. We love meeting people from all walks of life and retiring to our new venture was the best way to have fun meeting people, cooking and sharing what we found--a piece of paradise. The pristine lakes, streams, and creeks are such a pleasure for all water activities, all types of fishing, and wildlife viewing. The spectacular wildlife of the area includes bald and golden eagles, moose, bear, mountain lion and every small critter you can name. We just love seeing them all. The historic mining communities of Philipsburg and Anaconda offer all kinds of pleasure all year round. Summer events in both communities give you that home town feel that so many of the larger cities cannot offer. People are friendly and the events are family oriented. Golfing at a Jack Nicklaus Signature Course, sapphire mining, the hand-dipped chocolates and fresh-made salt water taffy at 'The World's Greatest Candy Store,' Montana's best barbecue, ghost towns, parades, art fairs, live theater, Shakespeare in the Park, Art in the Park, historic tours, the homecomings, and so much more make this place so very special. We love watching the ice fishing, as well as the snow and kite boarding on Georgetown Lake in winter. One of the best ski resorts in Montana, Discovery Ski Area, is just around a bend or two in the road. In summer, there are sail boats, jet skis, kayaking families, campers, and plenty of fishing boats on the lake. The views from Forest Edge Inn lets you take it all in. We are close enough to everything that any season of the year is filled with fun and activities.
The Unique Benefits at this House:
The spectacular 360° views from the property, the close proximity to all sorts of activities, and the sheer beauty of Georgetown Lake stopped us in our tracks when looking for a place to call home. The views to the west of pastoral lands and distant mountains, the views to the south and east of snow capped mountain grandeur, and the views to the north of Discovery Ski Area all make this property the place to stay for anyone's vacation. The sunsets and sunrises take your breath away. The proximity to any activity you can name in a pristine environment makes this property the only place to choose for a vacation of fun and adventure. Describing Georgetown Lake here seems so inadequate. Pictures do not do it justice. The beauty is surreal almost. The lake is a large jewel in the crown of Montana. It is the place to be for beauty, serenity, and peaceful reflection.
