Peaceful and Revitalizing

  • 5 of 5

Nestled up against an apple orchard out the back windows with the Sandia Ridge in view to the East, I found the casita tucked back on a dead end street with speed limits set for 15mph to be extremely private, tranquil and beautiful. My dog, Libby, accompanied me on this trip. There was a bowl of cool water set out for her and the minute we walked into the casita, she immediately went to it for a long drink and I knew she felt right at home. This was particularly important to me because Libby was recovering from an illness and my hope was to allow her a restful time to recover. And, I am happy to say that our stay there brought revitalization to her. She left stronger than when she arrived. She was fed eggs from the chickens who peck away in their compound at the edge of the property. Who doesn't like a freshly laid egg in the mornings?

While Libby slept on the cool tile floors, I set up my easel in the back patio where there were images of cottonwoods, flowering shrubs, and distant mountains to paint. The added benefit made the casita ideal for my retreat with Libby.

Gary, the host, was responsive from the beginning to the end. My decision to travel to Corrales was made the day before I wanted to stay. To my relief, Gary got in touch within 12 hours and my lodging was secured. Many of my questions were answered in the handbook guide to the property. The kitchen was stocked adequately and this was essential to me as I wanted to prepare all of my meals during my stay. However, I did noticed many good choices for restaurants within a short drive if i wanted to dine out.

The AirConditioning was welcomed considering temperatures were typically hot for July in Corrales. This plus the ceiling fans made for a very comfortable stay. The beds were comfortable and every room was nicely cleaned and fresh.

The casita is spaciously laid out with a courtyard in the front and a back patio for seating outside. The interior was tastefully accented with a southwestern motif which I felt was charming.

To my delight, I discovered the Rio Grande within a short walk with lots of trails. It occurred to me that bringing a bicycle would be fun in the future since there are numerous paths to bike.

I totally enjoyed my stay at the Casita Near the Bosque and hope that in the future, for other reasons, I might return to this haven of peacefulness. It was what Libby and I needed. Thank you, Gary!

It's snowing in June

  • 3 of 5

We were there the second week in June thru second week in July. It is a beautiful area, the dog and my husband loved walking every morning, however, the cottonwood trees make it feel liked it is snowing. Gary is a great landlord and if something breaks he is quick to fix it but the house could be cleaner. The air conditioner only cooled half the house. Everything considered this would be a beautiful vacation rental another time of year. New Mexico is truly the Land of Enchantment.

Owner's Response: The cottonwood trees can be quite a mess during this time of year, when it gets windy it blows every where and can be hard to keep up with. During your stay, we had the hottest weather of the year with several days over 100 in a row. The master bedroom is the furthest from the A/C. Thank You for your review and hope to see you again

Winter Stay In Corrales

  • 5 of 5

We once again stayed at this wonderful house in Corrales. This time we stayed for 3 whole months! It was great to be away from Michigan during the bitter cold months. We enjoyed spring there, watching everything green up, leaf out and bloom. The house was perfect for us to have visitors, my brother came for 5 nights. We were able to take a couple of trips, one to San Antonio and then to Ojo Caliente. We also did a bunch of day trips and sight seeing. The house is perfectly stocked with kitchen, bedroom and bathroom essentials. Anything we needed or asked for Gary provided, he is a perfect host. We made good use of the outdoor spaces including the BBQ grill and portable fireplace. Walking in the Bosque and being in the country atmosphere is lovely, yet you have all the big box stores and restaurants within a few miles. It was wonderful being close to our daughters who live in ABQ, we were able to spend a lot of quality time with them. It was a nice reprieve from Michigan and we plan to be back next year!!! You cant ask for anything better than this casita!!!
