Welcome to the 1869 John Scudder House at 515 Howard Street. You are invited to visit lovely Savannah and our recently restored two story historic brick row house. This sweet home features two full baths, two bedrooms and sleeps five. You will appreciate tall ceilings with crown molding, beautiful chandeliers, unforgettable heart pine floors, four fireplaces, a memorable staircase, and a private patio. The kitchen is set up for creative cooking or for lounging with a cup of coffee. Find furniture throughout designed with comfort and a balance between antiques and modern conveniences. The living room features a comfy sofa and large flat screen TV.
We are located around the corner from world famous Forsyth Park on a quiet street a short walk from most of Savannah’s attractions. Though we encourage you to sample the rich diversity of our city’s dining opportunities, our home provides three eating space options; the dining room, kitchen and back courtyard.
Upstairs, the front bedroom features a queen bed (Tempurpedic mattress) and a twin day bed with a flat screen TV over the fireplace. The back bedroom has two twin beds. Closet space is available for hanging clothes and storing luggage. The upstairs bath is roomy with a subway tiled tub/shower and an attached stacker washer-dryer. The downstairs bathroom features a large walk-in shower finished with ceramic tile from floor to ceiling.
Our hope is to provide you with a comfortable stay in Savannah. When you make your reservation please tell us your preference for your welcome bottle of wine: red, white or rose. You will also find coffee and tea supplies to help you begin your morning. Upon arrival we look forward to answering all your questions and provide you with some recommendations on places to see, to dine and to walk.

Ken Zapp & Cindy Kelley
Ken and Cindy have lived in Savannah for the past six years after escaping the snow of the Midwest. During this time they have renovated three historic homes. One of their homes on Tybee Island (a short 20 minute ride from Savannah), received a Tybee Island preservation award. Their current home (two blocks away) was formerly on the Savannah holiday tour of homes. Ken is a retired Economist and Economics Professor who now volunteers at Score to help individuals start small businesses. He is also active in the civic affairs of Savannah. Cindy is the Executive Director of the Chatham-Savannah Authority for the Homeless. She has spent her career leading nonprofit organizations. Cindy and Ken are empty nesters and are world travelers. They have experienced hospitality all over Europe, in Asia, and the Caribbean. We hope you will benefit from their experience.

We selected this property because it is similar to our nearby home. It is on a quiet street and has all the features one would expect in a nineteenth century row house. We are enamored by the heart pine floors and the courtyard. Renovations maintained the historic character while an expanded first floor bath provides needed modern luxury with a large shower.
The home is located an easy walk to Forsyth Park, restaurant, pubs, museum houses, and twenty-two beautiful squares. Cable TV with Preferred Digital package and HBO.
Tastefully decorated with comgortable places to sit and relax. Comfortable beds and a nice, private outside patio.
This home had it all. Location, ambiance and every amenity one could think of. Met personally by the owner as we drove up, he took us through the house, provided recommendations for sight-seeing and dining and checked back with us after the first day to insure that we had no concerns or questions. Highly recommend this quiet, charming home within an easy walk to so many attractions for anyone's stay here in Savannah.
I stayed in the property 2 weeks ago during a girls weekend with my mom, cousin, and her mother-in-law. We were beyond impressed! I have stayed at 5 VRBO properties, 1 being in Savannah last year, and all pale in comparison to Ken's home. The pictures do not do it justice! Almost all of the furniture is antiqued so that it fits the home very well, everyone had their own bed, the patio outside was great to have cheese and wine before dinner, it was just blissful. Spotless and clean. There was not even a to-do list really to check out as exists with most rentals because Ken reminded us we had already paid our cleaning fees (score!). Ken was so welcoming, saying "This is your home while you're here;" he means that. He welcomed us with a bottle of wine, answered a million questions, and gave a great tour.
It is really going to be difficult to stay in any property through VRBO in the future that compares to his. The price is top notch too, just a stellar stay. Walking distance to historical areas. You want to stay here! Quit looking anywhere else!
Ken gave us a personal tour of the home when we checked in. He was very kind. The home is tastefully decorated and very comfortable. We enjoyed our breakfasts in the private courtyard. Savannah is an amazing city and this home was perfect!
I had 5 ladies staying here for the marathon. We were greeted by Ken and given a tour of his lovely home. The house fit us perfectly. Very spacious with two full bathrooms. The beds were comfortable and the linens were clean. Ken checked to see if we needed anything and gave us great food recommendations. We walked to 90 percent of our destinations! Loved the location. We will be back next year and rent this home again. If you can take the train to Savannah! Had so much fun playing cards with friends
This property is well maintained and comes with modern amenities. There is a washer/dryer if you are inclined to do laundry. The house is located on a quiet street within minutes of Forsyth Park in the historic district. Most attractions are within walking distance, but if you aren't inclined to walk, the Uber and Lyft rates are very reasonable. The homeowner provided a binder with information about the house and city, and locations of nearby restaurants and grocery store.
I will definitely recommend this place to friends and family if they ever travel through Savannah. The homeowner was very accommodating when we needed to adjust our arrival and departure times. We had a great experience.

Please remember that sound carries very well throughout Savannah, most especially in courtyards, porches, patios, and verandahs.
While “to-go” cups are legal in parts of the city, public intoxication is unlawful and may result in heavy fines and/or incarceration.
Savannah has very strict litter laws. Please be sure that all litter, trash, and cigarette butts are placed in waste receptacles. Help keep Savannah beautiful!
Household trash and recycling must be placed in City of Savannah collection carts specific to the property. Trash bags and recycling may not be left outside of the collection carts, left on porches, or left in lanes.
Laundry and towels must not be hung to dry on any exterior portion of the property, including, porch rails, fences, gates, or banisters.
