About the property

Enjoy The Pond View From This Spacious 2nd Floor Gem

Palm Harbor is located between Clearwater to the south and Tarpon Springs to the north. Our condo is in the desirable East Lake section and more specifically, in the deeded community of Tarpon Woods. It offers 1,333 square feet of living space, but we measured it, multiplied length by width and came out to about 1,480 square feet in total. The point being, it's pretty big. There are two bedrooms and two bathrooms. There is a shower stall in the master bedroom along with double sinks and of course, the potty.

It is nicely furnished, very clean, with newish wall to wall carpeting in both bedrooms, the dining area and the living room, with the really cool view of the pond. At the other end of the condo, which is kind of far, there are no other condos in our complex. Instead, you get to watch the comings and goings of the folks in the very nice gated community next door. There is ceramic tile in both bathrooms, the kitchen, the hallway and the utility room.

We looked at least 20 condo complexes in the Clearwater / Palm Harbor area and this is one of two condos where we actually went in. There was a lot of WOW factor, so we bought it.

Tarpon Woods is a very stable community, and my Home Owners Association (HOA) is in keeping with that point of view. Hence, the $ 165 application fee for background checks and the three month minimum stay. The good news is I include $125 worth of actual electrical usage, a 50 inch flat screen with HBO and Cinemax, good WiFi and jacks for the plug-in type of computers. The washer and dryer are right off the kitchen, which has plenty of space for two or more. The breakfast nook which is part of the dining area, takes full advantage of the 1,333 square feet of living space.

If you have a school-aged child, he or she can attend the highly rated schools assigned to this neighborhood. There is a school bus stop directly opposite the driveway closest to the condo.

Please feel free to call us for additional info on cleaning, length of stay, payment terms or anything else. 1 631 665-5743.

Longer term guests preferred.Nice people required!

Best wishes, and please read my reviews and the notes. The notes can be found out the very bottom of the tab marked "rates."

Very nice place. Lost of room, and nice view. Had everything we needed. Ken was a great landlord - very accommodating and available whenever needed.

Great long-term stay!

  • 4 of 5

I stayed at Ken's property for two months. It is in a great, central location in Pinellas County - a quiet, residential, very walkable neighborhood. Grocery market, gas station, banks, restaurants within 1/2 mile of the complex and Countryside Mall is about 10 mins away. The condo complex is quiet and well-shaded with mature trees (real forestation, not palm trees) - there's even lots of wildlife in the area (something you don't expect in the middle of Pinellas County). Take a walk on the cart path of the golf course in the neighborhood and see over 20 deer grazing the course in the early evening! The unit itself is very large - about 1300 square feet! Plenty of room to move about with 2 very large bedrooms - you won't feel cramped at all. The beautiful picture window overlooks the pond so you can sit in your living room and watch the egrets and heron hunt in the pond. For practical matters, the beds are very comfortable, LOTS of storage space, large kitchen with all the appliances, dishes, pots/pans you could need, in-unit washer/dryer! The unit is very clean and well kept and Ken was very responsive at all times. Oh, and the assigned parking space is directly in front of the unit - always a plus!

An Excellent quiet and friendly condo community near most anything you love about Florida.

  • 4 of 5

The reasons for my staying at this property were different from the usual vacation rental. I needed temporary housing while I found housing in the are due to my job transfer. I thought it would be a difficult experience.

But then I found this property on VRBO and expected it to be too much out of my budget for the amount of time I needed. Then I connected Ken Barrett the owner. That made all the difference.

Through out the whole moving and transition that my family endured in move down to the area, Ken was there to work with me on what ever changes my schedule required. That's what you want when you plan to stay in a VRBO-not someone who will take your money and tell you where the keys are. Ken made sure the place was up to our liking.

The photos on the website don't really do the condo justice. It really is a pleasant, well stocked condo with everything you need in it. If you're short staying there, you only need your clothes and tooth brush!

The complex itself is in a more mature area of Palm Harbor meaning more mature shade trees and full time residents that take pride in their homes so it's quite lovely just to simply walk around the grounds and enjoy the pool and meet some of the neighbors. Good People!

I really can't recommend this place more if you want a pleasant, quiet, friendly place to stay that is a close drive to things you want to do. Ken is the guy you want to deal with. Ken will be my first call for any extra visitors we have when they come to town.

Fantastic Hidden Gem

  • 5 of 5

This is our second stay with Ken and Nancy and we intend to return next year. The unit is located in a quiet, beautifully maintained complex in an upscale East Lake neighborhood. The unit itself overlooks a pond where you will see an eclectic assortment of wildlife. A short walk away is the community pool which is well maintained and heated to the mid 80s. Neighbors are friendly and helpful.

Inside the unit, it is functionally furnished and decorated. The photos that are online accurately reflect what we found here. The large screen TV is great for watching golf and other sports events. The cable package has every channel imaginable and a PVR. Internet is quick and reliable.

Close by are a variety of golf courses, restaurants, movie theatres, beaches, shopping malls, sightseeing, entertainment options and the list goes on.

Ken is a great host who is only a text or phone call away. He makes it clear that any deficiencies will be corrected immediately and his actions correcting a minor problem during a previous stay bear this out. In our opinion, his prices are fair and represent good value. The best recommendation we can give is the fact that we will be returning next winter and hopefully for many years after that.

Perfect solution for an extended stay.

  • 5 of 5

My wife and I spent 4 1/2 months in this condo. It is situated in a central location convenient to the beaches, Clearwater and Tampa. There are all kinds of shopping and restaurants in the area. The unit has two large bedrooms and two baths. It also has a dining and living room. The owner even provides HBO and cinemax. The kitchen is fully supplied with all pots, pans and utensils necessary to cook your own meals. There is a covered parking space that goes with the unit. The owners name is Ken and we found him to be as helpful and cooperative as you could ever ask for. All in all this is a great place to stay on Florida's gulf coast. I highly recommend.

I stayed at this property for 3 months from May to July.

The place was clean and well maintained with all the amenities; which made a very comfortable stay for my Wife and I. The place to local attractions including restaurants, beaches, malls, supermarkets and especially the gym.

The place was very spacious and located in a great neighborhood.

Ken was very responsive and always responded quickly to questions, request e.t.c.

The neighbors was kind and very helpful.

My Home Owners Association requires a three month stay.It does not need to start or end on the first or last day of any given month. The cleaning is on the honor system. You can do it yourself including doing the laundry, making the beds, etc. or I can have it done for about $75. Check out time is 11:00 AM, check in time is 4:00 PM. As far as that goes, with the cooperation of incoming and departing guests, these times are not written in stone.

I can lower the monthly prices by $50 if you don't want HBO and Cinemax. I include $125 of actual electricity usage. By that I mean it costs me X amount of dollars to have the service. That's on me. If you just make believe that you're paying for it, it won't be a problem. You know, if you're going out for a while, close the blinds to keep out the sun, set the thermostat to 78-80 degrees and weather permitting, open up the windows and let the winds blow! The A/C unit works very well, was replaced in 2012 and is being properly maintained. Very energy efficient.

There is a $165 application fee for the HOA's management company. They do a criminal background check, so if you have any outstanding warrants, I would advise that you do not fill out that form.

We don't ask for a security deposit but the insurance policy offered by HomeAway/ VRBO/ is part of the package. At the time of this writing, it costs $59 for the duration of your stay, up six months.

Thank you for reading my listing! It has literally taken me days to write this.
