Located on a private estate in the North Carolina foothills with wonderful mountain views, this lovely 1940's guest house has been completely restored and offers an eat-in country kitchen, separate dining room, large living area, two bedrooms each with a queen bed and two full baths. The home sleeps four comfortably and arrangements can be made for two more. There is also a large wrap around porch complete with rockers. The home has central heat and air, ceiling fans, original hardwood floors, big screen tv, outdoor gas grill, and washer and dryer.
We built a house on the estate and have lived in the area about 10 years. We restored the rock guest house while we were working on the new house
Bob & Jo Ann Bailey purchased this farmhouse in 1994
We loved the property, the mountain views and laid back way of life. Its a wonderful place to live or visit

Thank you for the wonderful hospitality! We really enjoyed our stay here. The house is really special with its charm, peacefulness and feeling of home. We really felt blessed to have stayed here. We couldn't get enough of the beautiful views and watching the deer. We look forward to our next stay at your guest house. Thank you again for making our stay special!
We went to Tryon,NC to go to a horse show for my daughter. We loved our stay at this wonderful home. The Baileys could not be nicer. The house is immaculate. We were greeted with a fresh loaf of cinnamon bread. The house has great internet connection which my daughter needed to work on an online summer class. There is enough room to spread out and have some privacy. We were close enough to the horse show to get there in a timely fashion but far enough away to "get away" each day. This is a great rental and truly lived up to it's billing.
We were in Barn 7 (yes there is a Barn 7, waaaaaay out there) at Tryon International and it was nearly 100 degrees ... this was a really challenging show for us, but this house made it so much more comfortable and we were really able to stay organized and recharge our batteries! My daughter achieved a personal best at this AA show. Wonderful hosts, beautiful home, down to the tiniest details. Parking spot right next to back door and kitchen made it easy for us to navigate, and we slept better than ever in ANY hotel. This house feels like my Grandmother's home and was so welcoming it made me happy cry. Many thanks to Bob and Jo Ann and we'll see you soon!
Our family of 5 stayed for Memorial Day weekend in this fabulous house. Highlights:
- This is a charming old house that has been beautifully renovated and furnished to an extremely high standard
- In particular, the large kitchen and dining area is extremely bright , clean and classic. It is straight out of a magazine
- The hosts, Bob and Joanne, live just a stone's throw away on the same property. They are warm, friendly and considerate
- The surrounding neighborhood is filled with sprawling estates, beautiful homes and horses
- The wrap-around patio is perfect for outdoor dining, and offered us mesmerizing sunsets over Hogback mountain every night
Our two weeks at the Rock House was one of our best vacations. The outdoor views and the look of the old farm house brought us back to a time when life was not so busy. The interior had been restored and updated to today’s most convenient appliances, wide screen TV, etc. It is the perfect place to be quiet and relax or to visit the many interesting places nearby. We visited downtown Hendersonville, Flat Rock Playhouse (highly recommended), Tryon International Equestrian Center, and a few other exciting places. The mountain views from the front porch were spectacular. Bob and Joanne, the owners and hosts, couldn’t have been more accommodating and friendly.
Ray and Dot Marra,
The experience was wonderful. The hosts do a great job of making the home feel cozy and inviting. It was clean and well maintained. I hope to stay here again and would highly recommend it.
Our county has a population of abour 20000, so getting around is easy. Shopping is mainly in our shops in the three towns in the area. However, Spartanburg and Greenville S.C. are about 45 minutes away. Ashville N.C. is about 55 minutes and Charoltte N.C. is 1hr and 20 minutes. There are great hikes to falls or mountain trails, fly fishing, picnicing, shopping and more all within a hours drive. Please come and explore.
