I am currently living with my husband of 51 years in the Detroit area.
We have our own business a flower shop & greenhouse, which we are very active in. We have 4 grown children and 8 grandchildren. We love our life and our family.
Sally purchased this cabin in 1982
My parents had a cottage on Higgins Lake. I grew up spending my summers there. My husband fell in love with the lake. When we had enough money we purchase this piece of property. We plan to retire here.
Sits on a bluff with a private but beautiful view of the lake. Lots of trees. Just sitting on the patio and watching the lake is restful way of spending your day.
When you are rested there are plenty of things to keep you busy. Swimming biking, boating, walking.
If you bring your boat you can moor it in the your own private 100ft of lakefront
Perfect for all activities and children. Perfection personified!
This was the first time we stayed at The Sparr Cabin and we were there for a week. This is the perfect cabin for four people. The cabin was clean and nicely decorated. We loved the fact that we were right on the lake with a little beach area and dock. This is a pretty secluded spot which we also loved. The cabin is also very close to the walking paths (literally right across the street). It is also about 2 miles to the new paved bike trail at the camp grounds to the Dairy Queen. We visit Higgins Lake every other year and hope to make it back to this cabin in 2019. Sally was quick and responsive to questions regarding the initial booking and then directions for two weeks prior to us arriving. Mike was helpful explaining the cabin itself and grounds. Thanks for letting us stay at your retirement home!
Our family had a great time. The cabin itself is well kept and fully stocked with everything you need. The location is wonderful, hidden from the road and right on the lake. We played on the beach during the day and had bonfires every night. We will book this cabin again for next year. Mike, the grounds keeper, made sure our stay was very enjoyable, he even took us on a boat ride!! Between the hospitality, the cabin itself and the location, it was one of the best family vacations we've ever had!!
Clean rustic cottage on Higgins Lake. Nice pine furniture throughout. Kitchen works well, with good pots and pans. Mattress was comfortable. Large family room area for group gatherings. Bathroom needs updating, but was adequate. The owner is very nice!
We spent 3 full and two full days here and would recommend this cabin to anyone. If you're looking for a place to unwind, relax and just get away, look no further!!!
We had a great time at the Sparr's Cottage. It was our second stay there and we can't wait to have a third! The lake front access is unbeatable! The neighbor and caretaker, Mike, is a huge asset and always available for questions.
