What makes this House unique
Perfect for the fishing and boating enthusiast. Pine Island is a quiet inward island from Sanibel and Captiva, but a little more laid back! It takes about 30 minutes to get off island to lots of shopping and activities for a windy day.

Not what we expected!
The house was not what we were hoping for at all. When we arrived we were told that they had a leak in the master bath and there was a huge hole in the carport ceiling. We were told someone was going to fix it but it was a mess the entire time we were there. And the leak was still active. We were also told that carpet cleaners were going to come in while we were staying there! I said I would rather they did not as this was our vacation!! I thought it was crazy that they thought that would be ok for them to come in! The house is very old and needs major updating for the price charged to rent, and there are very little supplies to cook if you want to stay in. The island is not at all what we thought either. It is not a family vacation spot at all. It's basically a fishing village. We were a family of 4 looking for a fun vacation spot and that is not what we got at all. It was upsetting because we had told the property manager that several times and she assured us it was a good spot for a family to vaca. All in all we were very disappointed. So much that we left mid trip. If your just looking to go fishing and have a place to lay your head then this would work. If your a family looking for a beautiful vacation home on the water, keep looking.
Bokeelia is one of the last best old Florida places to vacation. In good weather, boating to the fabulous beaches and restaurants only reachable by boat is the way to go. But, if like last week, it is 62 degrees and VERY windy and you cannot get out on a boat safely; reading, watching old movies, playing board games, biking, wondering shops in Matlacha, and just relaxing are in order. (maybe an excursion to the mainland for outlet shopping and a movie for restless teenagers?)
We always try to accomodate early check-in, even if it is last minute. During season there are back to back guests arriving with only 4 hours scheduled for cleaning. A last minute early accomodation, as in this instance, may include, though, a request to come back to clean a spot on a rug, or allow maintenance to check where a leak caused a ceiling panel in the carport to fall that morning. In this case, the guest asked not to be disturbed. The owner takes excellent care of the home, and is very responsive if there is a problem. Having his guests be comfortable is very important.
It is understandable, that a relaxing island vacation is not for everyone, but if that is what you are looking for, Pine Island is a great place to be!
dated but nice location and comfortable
Had a good time. Water views with Manatees moving in and out of canal. People here friendly and helpfull.
Nice to have you stay!
We had an exceptional time on Pine Island.
Although we had seen pictures of our vacation home we were shocked at how spacious it is. This is such a lovely home. Bright and airy, clean and tranquil. The home is stocked with all the appliances and cooking paraphernalia that you would ever need. The neighborhood is very nice. Very quiet, but friendly neighbors. There is a new boat lift that was prefect for our 17' boat that we used quite a bit. Even on windy days there are nice canals and small harbors to peruse. This place is at the far north end of Pine Island, so there is no convenience of a store close by, but you quickly learn to adapt and love staying away from the crazy traffic of Fort Myers. We thoroughly enjoyed our 3 months of winter here and would definitely recommend it to others
Thank you for staying with us! Pine Island is such a great place to be!
